History
Established in 1981.
El Burrito Express’s lineage runs deep. Its roots are found in Jalisco, Mexico, where Dona Celia and Don Perfecto met and were married. They both had a passion for life, especially for food and were destined to pursue the American dream together; they moved to California.
In California, they both worked two jobs at a time — saving and planing. Once they had enough, they opened a small café called Celia’s, still located on Judah in the aves. Within years, the café turned into a full blown Mexican Restaurant and for 50 years it has remained.
The daughter of Mr and Mrs Lopez, Mila Lopez Havlicek, grew up working at Celia’s, learning the tricks of the trade. Applying what she learned from her parents along with a passion for cooking, taste, quality, and health — El Burrito Express was born, where it stays true to those values today.
