2 firsts in one night!
First first: I got my own Unilocal ELITE socks! Wheeeeee!
Second first: I tried my first FRESH coconut. Wow. So delicious.
Another fantastic party.

What a nice and cozy event at Glaze. Had a sweet, wooden house party vibe, with beers in the cooler, cookie crumbs everywhere, and a long line for the bathroom.
I felt like I learned a lot about the history of Seattle and how much I freakin’ love salmon and pot stickers.
The owners and all the staff working the even were super sweet, nice, and super duper social. Shout out to HAZEL! WHAT UP GIRL!

SOLD. I tried it and it was good! I never knew it existed and I was hesitant at first but hey… what’s living without trying new things?
This Unilocal event had a lot of other new things too… like my brand spanking new Unilocal Elite tube socks, the restaurant’s walls filled with SF landmarks, and new connections with fellow Unilocal Elites! It was truly an awesome event to be at. Glaze was a small restaurant but it had a patio for us to get some fresh air so it could actually fit a good amount of people.
There were lines for food at times but the owner would bring some dishes to the tables so we could all get something to nibble on. Thank you for that :) It was also great to hear about the story behind Glaze. The owner is from Boston where they have a large population of Korean immigrants who make a special teriyaki sauce — they glaze the sauce on. Yum. And this is their spin on it. It’s pretty good!

Well I waited too long, and now there are already 19 other people who have written eloquent, «useful», «funny» and «cool» reviews of the night. And I’m sitting here twiddling my thumbs trying to figure out how my review will actually add anything.
Having come up empty, I’ll just say that this was my first elite only event, and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to meet people. Everyone was super friendly, which was especially important because we had to share the food coming off the grill. Nobody got a chopstick to the eye, even though we all wanted a bite of that brown rice, beef, and teriyaki sauce bowl.
It was nice to hear the story of Glaze from the owners — it felt like a «friends and family» soft opening. Drinking out of coconuts and getting red Unilocal elite socks sealed the deal :)

Awesome party. Loved the terikyaki but not the meats so much. The beef and chicken were well-​cooked enough but the salmon really wasn’t my cup of tea. I did enjoy the soba noodle app and the gyozas. The shishito peppers were OK, nothing special. But, the ninkasi brews they had were delicious. As were the wines. The coconut that was brought out though? Simply amazing. Perhaps I was a little tipsy at this point, though. I gotta say, I really like these little events where you can sit and just talk all night with people. Definitely better than waiting in line.

House-​made/​Hand-​made Teriyaki sauce, loyalty hole punched cards, fresh and organic ingredients, and sizzling grilled meat = AWESOME! I loved the story told on how it all came together for the owner Ian and his business partner. Farewell, Johnny Rockets! HELLOOOOOOO… mom & pop style restaurant!
PS: Niners will come back on your Seahawks, Ian. Just you wait! The season had just begun!

Yet another fabulous time at an exclusive event with fellow, active Unilocalers over food!
The sweet, rich teriyaki sauce that they consistently stir at the open kitchen, was definitely top notch. It was served over rice with selections of different kinds of meat, such as chicken, beef, salmon, ribs and veggies. The ribs were my favorite!
The opening starters were gyozas, cucumber salad, edamames and crisp, salted shishito peppers!
I love the fresh coconuts that they served as beverages as well as Jones flavored soda variety! You can taste the pure cane sugar instead of the corn syrup that is ideally found at other soda machines, bottles or cans!
A fun fact that I learned about this place is that it use to be Johnny Rockets and they saved 4 of their 20 plus year old stools in the back patio! Cool to know!

Red wine, grilled meat and free socks; my three requirements for a great party, all satisfied at Glaze.
Filling in the old Johnny Rockets space (how did that joint last so long?!), Glaze offers tasty bowls of grilled meats and vegetables in a beautiful space. Jesse, the owner, did a great job renovating the space, tearing up the white tiles of its predecessor to unveil beautiful, aged wood beneath. The patio was redesigned to be more open and accommodating to guests. All in all, they did a great job.
This was one of the best Elite Events I’ve been to in awhile. Great job, Jon!

Pretty sure for the amount of food we got, for the price we paid (err…nothing) if anyone were to give it less than 5 stars, they’re jerks. Yup, I said it.
So this was my first elite-​only event… and I had no idea what to expect. I was somewhat fearful of sparse food, but was quickly put at ease. I also had survivors guilt of being granted access, when my friend was not. Curse you Elites that didn’t show!!! I walk into the joint, got my phone scanned, got my socks (Socks!?), a beer… and next thing I know a waitress crammed a delicious rib in my hands. Already winning here.
The space made me a bit nostalgic for the old Johnny Rockets. I don’t care what other folks said about Johnny Rockets being crap. Its HISTORY! Glaze does well at keeping old and new. The space is quite rustic looking, with awesome wood floors, and keeping with the roots of the space itself. The patio… I have no idea how they set that space up normally. It’s open air (which was NEEDED cause the room got so hot with all those Elites!), and they set up wine out there. Precious… alcohol.
Food itself:
Chicken, good but I had too much glaze on it. It was delicious glaze though.
Ribs, awesome. Like, down to the bone awesome.
Salmon, even better. It was legit PINK in the middle cooked correctly. Love, LOVE that. I was shocked. Like, utterly shocked. Imported 6x a week, I believe.
Peppers: I didn’t get a spicy one… just ate.
So someone decided to ask about the coconuts that they have sitting in the fridge, and next thing you know coconuts are floating abouts everywhere. Upon finishing the coconut water, they’ll crack that sucker open for you to eat the flesh too. Yum. Except… people needed to stop holding their hands in a cupping motion when talking about coconuts… or I have a dirty mind. But its easier to blame the cupping motion.
Thanks to Ian and Jesse for feeding a bunch of folks, with the only payment being reviews. I did my part…

My first intimate Unilocal Elite experience was awesome! There were about 40 – 50 of us there, including the infamous Jon A ( Unilocal’s version of Tom from MySpace). The night started off with checking in then getting cute Unilocal Elite tube socks! Name tags were already all squared away for us too.
Not stepping foot in this restaurant since it was Johnny Rocket’s, I was curious to try this new teriyaki joint. The first dishes were Japanese green peppers (1 in 10 are spicy!) which were well salted and flavorful. The spicy ones weren’t too bad, just a zinger. Gyoza was next, it was alright. Jesse and Ian served us teriyaki ribs, chicken and beef next. They also were grilling salmon — man what a night! The ribs were fatty, beef was slathered with teriyaki sauce, and I appreciated that the rice was on the dry side (not soggy).
Can’t go wrong with unlimited beer and wine either! Wahoo!
This was my 2^nd Unilocal Elite event (the other being Crocker Galleria) and I LOVED attending at Glaze. It was great mingling with everyone, so different but similar too. No plus ones was scary sounding at first but everyone just opens up like one happy Unilocal family.
I hope we can all be invited back to another Unilocal Elite event soon! ;D

So great catching up with old friends and meeting new ones along the way.
Special thanks to Ian and Jesse (along with their tireless staff) for being such gracious and generous hosts last night. From the Shishito peppers all the way to the salmon teriyaki (and all the yummy grilled meat action along the way), I left stuffed and very happy. If I’m not wrong, Jesse got coho salmon as a special order for the night. If I heard wrong, I blame it on the many Ninkasis drank. Thanks to Jon and the team at Unilocal for yet another great night of food, drink, and good conversation.
I mentioned to Ian that I think he has a smart concept. It’s fast casual dining in a neighborhood that doesn’t really have that much of it. They’ve also done an amazing job with the place from preserving the original wood floors to the laser cut wall panels. If I’m in the neighborhood I reckon I would stop by for some teriyaki chicken thighs and salmon plus try out that cold soba salad I saw on the menu. Y’all should too.

Amazing night, party, and restaurant! This was my first Unilocal Elite event, so I had no idea what to expect in terms of how big it would be, how the food would be, etc. I got there right at 8pm and the place was already packed. For schwag, they were giving out Unilocal Elite socks and Unilocal mints — the socks are super cute (they’re those knee high ones!)
Glaze is a super cute restaurant that has taken over Johnnny Rocket’s. It’s well lit and they have a full area for sitting in the front with wooden tables and a kitchen that has a low glass wall that enables you to see them cooking. In the back, they have another more private feeling room that leads to the bathrooms. In the private room, there was a winery that was giving out free samples of their wine — both the red and white were delicious! In the front, they had a few different types of beer.
In the front where the main room was, they started with appetizers: edamame, pork ribs, chicken/​pork/​veggie gyozas, and peppers. Everything was absolutely delicious and it was awesome because you got to try pretty much all the appetizers on the menu! I was already stuffed when appetizers were done and didn’t realize that we still had the main dish coming. For the main dish, they gave out your choice of chicken/​veggie/​salmon with teriyaki sauce and brown or white rice. I tried both the chicken breast and salmon with teriyaki sauce and brown rice. YUM, especially to the salmon! Everything was super well-​cooked; my only complaint is that I feel like it was a bit heavy on the sauce. To top off the meal, they were passing out chocolate chip cookies from a place down the street (forgot the name of it), which I thought were okay– they could have been a bit softer.
Overall, the event was so much fun. I got to meet a bunch of fellow Unilocal Eliters and drink and eat my heart out! It’s safe to say that I was sufficiently full by the end and I think I’d definitely go back to Glaze. I liked the fact that there were no +1’s invited because it felt a bit more intimate and allowed everyone to meet new people. Thanks for putting on an awesome party, Unilocal

First of all, Rest In Peace, Johnny Rockets. You were awful, and really random, and an ancient relic of a time gone by pre-​gentrification. You will not be missed.
Now — GLAZE. It’s amazing how completely different the place looks. From the laser cut wall art to the vintage re-​sourced furniture and hands-​on owners, the only thing that has stayed the same is the incredibly affordable price points. It’s almost miraculous how cheap this place is. The teriyaki sauce is made daily from scratch, which is pretty amazing, and the meat was all pretty fantastic and delicious. Choice of brown rice or white rice, and they even offer locally made cookies from Bumzies around the corner! Very nice touch.
But what’s most importantly: JONES SODA FOUNTAIN MACHINE. NEVER IN MY LIFE EVER HAVE I EVER SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS IN PERSON. This is truly a miracle! UNLIMITED, STREAMING, FOUNTAINING, AND BEAUTIFUL SWEET SWEET JONES SODA.
Even if Glaze had exorbitant prices, mediocre flavor and rude staff, I would still come just for that! Thankfully, Glaze is the complete opposite — like I said, great prices, incredible flavors, and friendly/​amazing staff.

First and foremost, thanks to Ian, Jon, Glaze staff, and the rest of Unilocal staff for coordinating another amazing (selected 50) Unilocal Elite Only event. Truly allows us to really enjoy an intimate party with delicious eats. You guys are super awesome!!! After the 49ers defeat from the Seahawks, what a better way to make up for the hurt feelings with Seattle-​Style terriyaki!!! It literally was like a buffet for 2hrs. Left 10 pounds heavier.
FACTS
— The old Jonny Rockets on Filmore is now the new Glaze Terriyaki
— Ian is a transplant from Seattle and is a Seahawks fan
— Salmon is delivered several times a week from Pacific Northwest
— Artwork is amazing
— Complete a punch card, sign it, and be featured on the wall of punch cards
What more can we ask for on a Tuesday night… Unilocal Socks, Unilocal Mints, Endless Terriyaki and sides, Bottomless Beer and Wine, great company of other Elites (awesome to have met a good handful of you and share laughs over terriyaki). Beer and wine, no complaints from me. The eats were delicious and endless (salmon, chicken, beef, vegetables) and the sides were an extra compliment (shishito peppers, gyozas, cold soba noodle salad). Lets not forget about the Bumzy’s cookies… perfect sweetness to end the night. OH… AND… THE COCONUTS!!! Our table felt very special to have been served fresh coconut upon a very random request. Goodtimes, goodtimes.
IAN, from Seattle transplant to another Seattle transplant… thank you for bringing 206 terriyaki to 415. I never could find anything similar for a long time. Wishing you MUCH success. You are awesome and I’ll be back in for some more good eats.

Super fun event last night, especially since I got to meet a few new Unilocal Elite friends and try out some of the offerings from Glaze! Perhaps one of the best parts of the night were trying on the socks that were handed out at the event. And for the record, yes, I went home and tried them on.
The owners of Glaze, Ian and Jesse, were AMAZING hosts. From the crispy veggie or pork gyoza, the shishito peppers, and the rib/​chicken teriyaki samplings, they were incredibly generous in their samplings. Towards the end of the night, I discovered the fresh coconut water they were offering, and then splitting open to scoop out the coconut meat for the freaks like myself. The two ladies out on the patio serving the red and white wines were incredibly nice, and I definitely was that person who had no shame in going back for seconds or drinking red wine out of a water cup.
Absolutely great event put on by the Unilocal folks, I can’t wait for the next one!

Long ago, I loved Edamame and then I found the best edamame ever in Tahoe at this little bar /​restaurant, soaked in chili and spiced up it was delicious. I then could not eat any other edamame ever again until today. Glaze has a delicious edamame.
Other food is good too.
P. S. they have fresh coconuts. Awesome hosts would cut some open for us.

Hi-Five…awesome night out with my fellow Elites, I started the coconut craze by simply asking Chef Jesse for one helluva cocount, woot-​woot! He hooked it up, and we sipped on this thing as if it had rum in it. Owner Ian sliced up the young coconut for us to indulge even further, one spoonful at a time. Immediately, there were coconuts everywhere like we were on our own Elite tropical island, but in SF. Food was delicious, love the teriyaki salmon and beef. Cold soba noodles were tossed right with the perfect amount of sesame oil. Endless gyozas (even vegetarian ones) and peppers. Wine bar in the back patio, unique space… thank you ladies for the generous pourings of Cab from Dry Creek. This venue was formerly Johnny Rockets, I’ve been coming here for my burger & shake fix for the last two decades. Ian has transformed this iconic landmark into another prime location. This part of Fillmore gets a lot of foot traffic, and Glaze will only see more along this strip — congrats! Desserts were homemade chocolate cookies from Bumzy’s, perfect ending to another well-​organized YEE. Many thanks to Jon, SF Unilocal Team, all the staff at Glaze, especially our gracious host Ian. I will definitely come back for more tasty foods and combo plates with my punch card in hand. Btw, Unilocal SOX rock!!!

Never ending bowls of teriyaki? Yes please! Oh, it’s so good to be Unilocal Elite!
I really love the atmosphere of Glaze Teriyaki. It’s cozy with the kitchen taking most of the front space. But that’s cool because I feel like you can talk to the chefs. They were really nice, and gave me a lid to take leftovers home.
And as for the food: delicious! I wish I got to try a fresh coconut, but I came kinda late, and had to leave early to catch my bus. I also liked the drink selections offered at this event.
And thanks for the socks, Unilocal!I will definitely use them now that our Indian Summer is almost over. :)

Not going to lie, I was slightly nervous on my way to Glaze. First elite event! What’s to be expected?
The event was awesome. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of Glaze, with its open space to walk around and the chance to talk to the chefs. Within 4 months of its opening, I’m quite impressed with their décor and how it incorporated ties to the original Johnny Rockets and highlights of Seattle on the walls.. Ian was such a gracious host and Jesse was so nice to let us try practically anything we wanted. I had the chance to try the actual salmon plate with salad and rice on the side and really liked the curried salad dressing.
Lots of care was placed into the terriyaki sauce, which is apparently created every day with different types of fruit juices.
From japanese pickles, gyoza, short rib to teriyaki salmon to soba noodles, the food plates were endless!!!
I absolutely loved the noodles and appreciated the fact that we had the chance to try some coconut water. :)
With so many different types of beers and amazing wines, it was hard not to have more than one drink. Also… JONES SODA FOUNTAIN MACHINE?! UHHHH. YES PLEASE!
The elite gifts consisted of lovely socks and mints to warm you up and keep you cool!
Everyone was super nice and friendly and I enjoyed meeting them all. I was also surprised to be able to find so many connections with everyone there. Such a small world! :)

Wow where do I start?
Location. Fillmore and sutter where Johnny rockets used to be. A leisurely bike ride from my pad. Short line upon arriving early.
Atmosphere. On the corner. Beautiful laser cut painted wood panels. Super artsy. Reps Seattle with pike market and sf landmarks.
Food. I tried everything. Roasted peppers, Cucumber (marinated), steak, rib, salmon, a cookie !!, and I couldn’t fit the marinated veggies.
Drinks. Kirin light. Total domination ipa. Ninkasi (same from somarts party) and some Cabernet wine.
Owner and chef. Ian is a tall friendly owner who really explained the whole 4 month old concept. Jesse head chef was personable and showed me the teriyaki glaze in the making behind the open kitchen.
Outside is a patio. Cheap prices. Definitely date worthy. I biked there. Bomb diggity.
A small personal quaint event for a Tuesday and loved it! Everyone was super friendly and I get to rock red Unilocal elite socks to prove it. Wooooooo.
