Sitting in the center field bleachers the other night at AT&T Park, I decided to try out the Forty-Four Barbecue stand below the scoreboard. Having been to McCovey’s in Walnut Creek several times, I had high expectations. Thankfully, this stand fulfilled them. I ordered the fried chicken dinner, which came with 4 pieces(breast, thigh, wing and drumstick) and 2 sides(mashed potatoes with gravy and cole slaw). For $ 14.75, this was the best deal in the park for the amount of food I got. And the chicken was freshly fried, as it was still hot when I bit into it(and not under-the-heat-warmer hot, either). The gravy on the mashed potatoes was really tasty, but the cole slaw was just OK. I still ate everything, but wasn’t hungry enough for any other ballpark food(a very uncommon feat). Overall, the meal was great. But it was tough to eat, as it was pretty messy. Thankfully, the seat next to me was unoccupied, so I was able to put the food down. Next time, I’ll try the rib dinner, which I’m sure which will be delicious, too!

Hands down, the best food stand at AT&T Park with some of the best food plus the best value for the dollar found anywhere inside the ballpark. I’ve had the BBQ ribs, southern fried chicken and the hot wings. All excellent, and the BBQ ribs and southern fried chicken dinners are excellent values too. The ribs dinner comes with six ribs and two sides(coleslaw and mashed potatoes) for only $ 15. That’s really not much more one would pay for a six ribs dinner outside the ballpark. The southern fried chicken comes with four pieces of chicken(leg, thigh, wing, and breast) plus the coleslaw and mashed potatoes. A complete meal for $ 14.75, not bad at all considering just a Crazy Crab sandwich at AT&T Park will set you back $ 16 just by itself. They also offer other BBQ items like Trip-tip sandwiches, baked beans, among other treats. This BBQ stand is located behind Center Field on the lower level BELOW the outfield bleachers. Highly recommended.
