Gateway Sober Living Environment (SLE) is a clean and sober living, family, environment where residents who are serious about their recovery share the responsibility in the care of the house. Residents learn to support and encourage individual growth while learning how to live without drugs and/​or alcohol. They assist and support each other in developing the ability to handle future stresses in everyday life. A house parent and an assistant house parent run each Gateway Sober Living Environment home. These individuals make sure that Gateway Sober Living Environment’s house standards are maintained and set a good example for others to follow. These people have been through sober living and are able to relate to any problems that arise in early recovery. Gateway Sober Living Environment homes are located throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. At Gateway Sober Living Environment we know the importance of a good sober living environment, and the impact it has on one’s life.

History

Established in 2000.

For over a decade Gateway Sober Living Environment (SLE) has been working with treatment centers, hospitals, and individuals to help innumerable people succeed in sobriety. Gateway SLE has continually maintained an excellent reputation with the treatment centers in the area and is frequently invited to do on site presentations on sober living. Our outreach representatives and district managers are in the field daily picking up clients and showing them our various homes. Once someone chooses to become part of the Gateway SLE family, they will learn to foster their individual growth while learning how to live without drugs and alcohol. Residents will also assist and support each other in developing the ability to handle future stresses in every day life. The entire staff at Gateway SLE wants to help our residents succeed in their recovery and we try to go the extra mile to do what we can to help in that process.

Manager

Since its inception, Gateway SLE has been fortunate to have John Wiles serving as our Director. John has been clean and sober since December 1991 and is an active member of the AA community. After living in a sober living environment, following his own treatment, John decided he wanted to give back to the community. Since 1991 John has worked with innumerable recovering addicts and alcoholics, placing them in sober living environments. John always takes time to listen and help anyone he can, even if Gateway SLE may not be the right fit for them. John has continually made the sobriety of each and every client the top priority for himself and everyone who works at Gateway SLE. John is an invaluable resource for Gateway SLE.
