Cheap drinks, not a lot of seating, but good vibe.

this place is a classic in north beach. I think of ir as an anchor for the neighborhood. There is nothing fancy about this place, it has that old school charm, the bartenders are super friendly, and they usually have a good crowed. This is SF so parking will be a challenge, and I wish you the best of luck with that.

I really can’t imagine ANYONE giving this bar less than 5 stars. It’s absolutely PERFECTION for what it is – an old bar in the heart of North Beach. I like to visit during the day, particularly with my brothers — and we always have a good time. There are some characters afoot! LOL Play pool, watch sports, but mostly enjoy the ambiance and the locals. Good bloodys, good scotch, great guys behind the bar(owners are really super chill). I love it! Wish I were there right now…

Bartender was the sweetest old man, but the fight that broke out right behind me was not the best experience. Having wine spilled all over me… not cool.

I always stop in to Gino and Carlo’s when I come to SF. Way back in the day, 20 yrs ago I first popped in. Great drinks, good casual atmosphere. I give it 2 thumbs up. Plus Golden Boy is right next store. Yum!

Old school North Beach bar. One of the few places where there are still Italians hanging out. I liked the fancy little pool cue lockers.

Awesome spot for a cocktail or three when passing through North Beach. Don’t forget to have a slice next door at Golden Boy. In fact bring it with you to G&C and wash it down with a brewski or cocktail as you watch college football. Friendly staff, friendly customers.

Came in to grab a drink before dinner nearby bc it didn’t sound super loud. Low key locals bar. Seemed like an older crowd but everyone was friendly. Legit prices and drinks. From San Diego, I would return if it was nearby.

I admit I might’ve just gotten unlucky, but I really couldn’t stand to stay here for very long. A friend and I were attending an organized bar crawl which distributed drink tickets for discounted drinks. I sat at the bar for ages waiting on a bar tender who seemed to be deliberately ignoring me. When I finally got his attention, I asked what I would be able to use the drink ticket with. He immediately turned away from me and went to serve another customer, even though I had seen him serving other customers with drink tickets as well. I’ll admit, it was a busy night, but be straight up ignored in that way when he was willingly serving other customers? Makes it hard for me to give him the benefit of the doubt. Would be willing to give this place another chance, but my first impression definitely left me feeling disgruntled.

It is what it is… stiff drinks and low prices. Bartenders that don’t get on your nerves.

Gino and Carlo’s is a laid back North Beach institution. I love it! You feel more Italian just by walking in.

Like walking into the North Beach, Italian version of Cheers,. We were probably the only people the bartender didn’t know by name, and the only ones in their under 50. Everyone in there was just having the best time, joking with the bartender, playing dice at the bar. It really felt like there was a community that was based around it, and although we weren’t part of that community, I am glad I was able to witness it first hand. Downsides: All their pool cues were 21oz, and the mixed drink glasses were a little small.

Played pool and got drunk, what else can you want from a bar in the North Beach area. The place was packed with what looked like locals, the staff was friendly and I will be back.

This place is awesome. Such a divey bar but in the best possible way. It seemed like everyone here had been coming for years and they each had their stop at the bar. Nothing fancy about this place but that’s part of the overall charm.

Time: 6:37pm/56°F cloudy Purpose: This is my go to bar to be quiet and watch local sports on TV. BTW this is a bar were the local off duty SFPD officers hangout before heading home. Another reason why I come by to chat and laugh a little. Ambiance: Neighborhood divey bar were there are plenty of kith around. You don’t need to dress all flashy showing up in style and wearing you best clothing from the closet. Here it’s all about who you know and how you carry yourself. Don’t expect hipsters or gadget geeks to be around here. What it is about mostly 50+ crowd locals with kids in college or started their own family, plenty of time on hand. There’s really not much to say just your standard bar with jukebox, pool tables, flat screens everyone sitting at counter talking to Frankie sometimes he can bust out a joke from within. It’s probably onevbofvthe quietest bar due to it’s client lifestyle. Staff: I always deal with Frankie so I can’t say much only that he can get in your face if there are political issues arises. Cleanliness: It’s a divey place that has it’s time since the 1940’s so don’t expect neon color lights or any high tech gadgets around, if you do, turn around and leave. Eats/Drinks: I get numerous assorted drinks price range from $ 3.75-$ 6.50. My favorite cassidy mist is always my drink of choice made with maker’s mark. Pizza I just grab from next door GB pizza and bring it over. Apps are serve in sizes of medium only, may order two and combine it. Products: Full bar and finger food apps. Punch Lines: North beach, old timers, divey, quiet/average, pool tables, jukebox, ATM, TV, street parking, many different ethnic around, no hipster appeal. Tradeoffs: You come here for good laughs and to relax from a full day of hard work, leave the past behind you. Final Thoughts: Cheapest place in NB neighborhood to get a drink and share some good times with old buddy’s. You better be a local or else hard stares and slight pulse will be encounter. Italian nostalgia places and feel is getting less and less these days, this place stays in place through out the times and it shows, stop by find out for yourself.

I was not in Gino & Carlo’s long. However the 25 minutes in there warrant a review. Thank god there is a place which actually keeps the store hours that they post. 2 a.m. is actually 2 a.m. here. Sat down, got some drinks at the bar and went to town quick. Basic bar. Pool table and flat screens. Seems like a good spot to watch a sporting event. The prices are great and the people behind the bar are friendly. Its a good spot, nothing special but a solid place to grab a drink or two. As they started to ask people to leave, I was able to chug a friend’s beer(Not everyone can keep up) and went on my way at 2 o’clock. The way it should be. Thanks for staying open, as advertised!
