Handy Moe

Well I’ve learned my lesson: don’t call handymen to fix a leaking water heater connection. What happened was pretty much the same as the other handyman I contacted, except Moe at least picked up the phone. I told him about the leaking pipe and he asked me to take a picture of it and send it to his phone. I did as he requested and then… no response.
I waited a day then called him back. He told me he didn’t get the picture and to try sending it by email. I did as he requested aaaannnnndddddd… no response.
I waited yet another day and tried to call him, but he didn’t pick up his phone. I didn’t bother leaving a voicemail.

Moe is completely professional and knowledgable and without question the best prepared repair person I have had the pleasure of working with. He comes with a set of tools and stocked van for any contingency, works fast and efficiently. He installed a shower head, a new facet and security camera in no time, all with ease and confidence. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

Moe is the best! He is so professional and comes well beyond prepared, very friendly and easy going and knows a ton. He did such a good job mounting our TV I called him directly when I needed another task, will use him always going forward! Cannot recommend enough, he’s your guy!

I haven’t written a Unilocal review in over a year, but Moe was good enough to bring me out of retirement. A completely professional TV/​sound bar installation (hidden wiring) from start to finish. Moe was responsive, friendly, and accommodating while scheduling and even better in person.
I’m reasonably sure his comprehensive equipment was from the future complete with multiple laser levels stored in his 4 boxes of tools (yes he has 4 large boxes of tools). In all seriousness though his demeanor, knowledge, and professionalism all made this a seamless experience from an incredibly friendly guy.
No complaints and very much recommended.

I hope Moe gets a ton of more work, I’ll just start off to say. In a city infested with companies, contractors, and plumbers who don’t take the time to respond to a voicemail, or who want to wait a week to send someone out to do a 10-​minute job, Handy Moe is the complete godsend. I left Moe a voicemail and he got back to me within 30 minutes. I had a glass sliding shower door that needed to be put back onto its track, but the weight and the awkwardness put me in the hospital last night, so I needed a professional to take care of it. (Don’t worry, I’m totally fine.) Moe was able to correctly assess and understand how long it would take to do the job, as I told him it was roughly a 3 – 5 minute job – to convey its utter simplicity, and he was able to give me an affordable and reasonable estimate. Moe provided a time that was best for him and was punctual and communicative. He actually cared about my situation. The job was done in less than 15 or 20 minutes, and he was hero for the day. A friendly chap, you can see the natural eagerness and enjoyment he has for fixing things. This is definitely his calling, and by far stands out from any other company I contacted in SF today. He’s my go-​to for certain.

Moe is AMAZING! I can not praise this guy enough. He arrived on time, was very polite and easy to talk to as well. He did the wiring the way I wanted and was very knowledgeable. He is a superstar handy man! He also showed me how to take the TV down if needed. My roommate and I have officially decided to only use Moe for all our home repair needs.

I finally got the right kind of TV, a 70in Bravia. It features a headset plug; however, the TV itself is large-​ass heavy. You happen to need a headset plug if you want to plug your non-​home theater Bose sound system or if you want to plug your… headset into the TV.
Fry’s, of course, would be the best option for finding the right kind of wall mount, I thought. This meant I would have to drive all the way down to Palo Alto and so I did. I was wrong –their wall mount area was shady, literally, and full of knockoffs or apparent knockoffs or knockoffs altogether and looked underground-​ish, under construction or under something. It looked like it as about to be remodeled (demolished?). The only one clerk that I could find was scared to talk to me (like I’m the only 6’2″ 220lb Hispanic that buys gadgets, in Fry’s, in Palo Alto) and I ended up feeling out of place.
But Fry’s wouldn’t beat me, I thought to myself, I would buy a mouse pad or a cable or something so I grabbed an HDMI cable and headed to the registers till I came back to consciousness and realized that is is not like I ‘have to buy’ anything. Aborted Fry’s and Unilocaled for… Best Buy.
Best Buy. The clerk was not intimidated by… my human persona and actually offered to bring back from the warehouse a wall mount that was not in display. You know, like a sales person. It happened to be exactly what I was looking for, a large ass slick 40lb 2-​arm, adjustable wall mount that spins and tilts and extends. I was not a fan of the price tag though but guess what, he offered a 10% discount after hearing my funds concern. It was not like I was gonna start arguing about a discount huh? As a side note, he was gracious enough to honor the fact that he was taking care of my transaction when another guy randomly interrupted our conversation about wall mounts like I was not there, like I was not talking, like 6ft and 220lb of large brown meat are not visible. It is not the 20s, brown people are also entitled to courtesy, yes? Back from the rant, yes, I got what I was looking for. This only meant that I would need a professional installer since my tools wouldn’t be enough this time.
Moe showed up in time. Punctuality = courtesy. He brought the most professional toolset, including a room-​wide laser that perfectly aligned the wall mount with the horizon and with the vertical. Amazing. He found the studs with yet another tool (that I need to buy myself) and perfectly installed the wall mount, cleaned-​up and even helped me to mount the TV in no time. I mean, really fast. No, I’m not overusing ‘perfect’, it is accurately being used.
Hiring Laser-​Moe, along with my choosing the right TV wall mount and buying my headset-​enabled TV has gotten me really happy. Hellooo Netflix, I’ve missed you. House of Cards, anyone?
As an engineer, approved. As a tools aficionado, approved. As a perfectionist, approved.
Moe was also fun to talk to. I never underestimate the cool crowd. Never.
