This special dish is prepared by submerging vegetables in a pot of boiling water or broth and swishing the thinly sliced meat, seafood, and/or other ingredients back and forth. Shabu Shabu gets its name from the swishing sound. Cooked meat and vegetables are usually dipped in ponzu or sesame sauce. After finishing the meat and vegetables, the soup is usually savored.
