Hattery

An amazing start-​up environment with a kickass staff! The Hattery cooks and food are amazing and definitely the biggest reason we chose this over other co-​working spaces we were looking at.
Lisa Anne keeps a tight ship and always willing to accommodate any reasonable requests our company had when we were there. Our year there was a great start for us as a company and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking.

I’ve been working from the Hattery since late 2013, in a somewhat unique context (e.g. primarily from an electronics lab set up in the basement, with a desk space upstairs). The general atmosphere is that of a well-​maintained, renovated factory space that has been (happily) subjected to interior decorating done in a clean, but not self-​important, fashion. I observe the following about the Hattery:
1) Well managed; e.g. requests or concerns are addressed promptly by the staff. This can range from desk configurations, to assistance with event setup within the space, to the more mundane tasks like getting printers and wifi connectivity sorted out.
2) Generally, your gear is safe inside. The building is monitored with Dropcams (which by themselves are little more than a novelty when it comes to crime prevention, but thats a comment for another thread ;)) in addition to a scheduled entry alarm system, and shatter-​resistant panels on the primary entry door.
3) The lunches are spectacularly planned and executed, every day. Definitely should be a consideration when looking at co-​working spaces; as the chefs here are thoughtful and consistently come up with creative menus (always including vegetarian/​GF options as well). A well stocked mini-​kitchen for snacks, coffee, and tea throughout the day, all included.
4) Generally friendly, interesting resident companies. People here like what they are working on, and are willing to tell you about it if you ask. On that note, there are regular resident «Happy Hours» where folks are able to share what they are working on.
5) An adequate number of available conference rooms of various sizes (anywhere from 3 to 10+ people), which can be reserved in advance.
All in all, very satisfied with the facilities. Worth checking out if you’re looking for a co-​working space in the area, or even a desk for the day with a great lunch :).

I have a start-​up company that has been working out of Hattery’s beautiful space in SoMA. After having tried other co-​working spaces, including RocketSpace and the Hub, we’ve found Hattery to be our favorite. The space feels open and it’s filled with soft, natural light. And it’s conveniently located for some of our employees who commute using Caltrain. There are several well-​furnished conference rooms with big screens for meetings and phone booths when you need a little privacy.
But the best things about working in Hattery’s space are the other companies in the space and the freshly prepared lunches. The other companies here are all interesting and helpful. There are also some people called entrepreneurs-​in-​residence who lend their expertise to residents. In particular, we worked with two entrepreneurs-​in-​residence who has previously had successful careers at Google and then running start-​ups of their own. The kitchen here is amazing and the chef makes wonderful meals for lunch every day. The communal lunches provide great opportunities for our team to catch up among ourselves and with other start-​ups at Hattery. All-​in-​all, a great place to work if you’re a single entrepreneur or have a small team and want to be in an inspiring environment on a daily basis.

What a cool space to house a combination of startup co-​working spaces and classes!
There are two floors: the downstairs has an open floor plan with a few offices toward the back of the room and two classrooms on one side. There is an office space hovering just above and next to one of the classrooms.
The second floor has a lunch area along with more workspaces and a classroom.
Overall, this is an industrial-​style renovated location (one of the classrooms has a garage door that opens up to Ritch Street. You can watch the buzz inside, or catch a glimpse of people walking by outside.)
They’re even pet friendly and allow people to bring in their dogs to hang out while they work or take class :)

Hattery is an awesome company with a cool space and even better employees. They have a great group of creatives, strategists and are able to come up with innovative, well designed and compelling solutions for their clients and portfolio companies. Plus they have a Matt Damon look-​alike with Will Hunting smarts working there, can’t go wrong!

Great space for startups in San Francisco. Super friendly people, fantastic kitchen, and some of the best office dogs you can fine!
