History
Established in 1994.
For over 19 years, I have been an owner/operator of a custom sewing and pattern making business in San Francisco. I learned about sewing and began making garments with my mother starting in 1982 at her sewing business in Los Angeles. The types of garments/items I like to create are one-of-a-kind ranging from costumes to fashion wear, art wear, interiors (pillows, bed, couch, cushion, and window coverings), wedding dresses, and vintage recreation items as well as alterations. I specialize in pattern making and draping creating what my clients want.
Meet the Business Owner
Hester M.
Business Owner
Hester Michael is a fabric artist specializing in custom sewing and pattern making living in San Francisco since 1987. Growing up in L.A. Hester started sewing and making garments as early as 12 years old. She studied fashion and costume design in San Francisco at FIDM and Louise Salinger Academy of Fashion earning her BFA. Since then she held positions of Pattern Maker in the local fashion industry, Fashion Instructor at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) and the Art Institute of California, and designed for local couture designers. In addition to her love of all things fabric, Hester continues to be creative with textile weaving, art to wear, painting, and pastel drawing. Truly an inspiration.
