I had always heard that the holidays can be hard on the older members of your family but this year, it became very clear to my own family exactly how much stress the holidays cause. Without going into much detail, I’ll just say that we realized that a member of our family had had a serious decline since our last visit (over the summer) and needed some extra help. During Christmas 2013 we hired Home Instead to help with light tasks and cleaning but we just called again this year to increase the care hours and tasks. Fortunately, we got the same caregiver and we appreciate how accommodating they were to our changing needs. Home Instead has been a blessing to our family. We trust them and know that they’ll do right by us. Their prices are competitive for the level of care you receive but don’t expect them to be the cheapest because they are a good quality company with licensed staff. That was important to us!

This agency is the worst. I worked here for 3 months, the staffs are very unprofessional — one of the girls called me stupid. There is a lot of discrimination too. The company does not care about the patients, they just want to have «respectable» reputation. The caregivers in this company have had many complaints, especially about the two Filipino women in the scheduling department. Do not consider this company. It’s very bad.

When you’re loved ones start to get older and are unable to care for themselves, it can be really difficult to choose the right type of care for them. I have been helping a friend make these choices for his mother over the last month and lemme tell you, finding Home Instead Senior Care really helped take the weight from his shoulders. We checked out many care at home providers and some assisted living options, as well. Ultimately, we felt it was best to have someone come to his mother’s house and take care of her.
I learned a lot in our search. There are different levels of caregivers at Home Instead, from nurses to respite staff. Also, there are many reasons that you might have a caregiver at home, either permanently or short-​term.

So why did we finally choose Home Instead Senior Care? Home Instead has two sets of caregivers that will work with my friend’s mother. They have an assigned caregivers for daily or weekly duties and a case nurse that checks in with your loved one every 30 days, to make sure everything is up to expectation. They also do extensive background checks on all hires. But what sealed the deal for us was that they are the only care at home provider we found that trains all of their employees in a special workshop, during the first few weeks they’re on the job. The owner, Phil, actually built a little school in their center so that all new hires are trained in their first weeks on the job. A lot of agencies just hire people and throw them in your loved ones home… why take that kind of risk?!
