Hugh Anthony Levine has over 40 years of experience in all aspects of federal and state criminal law. White-​collar criminal defense and representation of professionals in licensing and disciplinary proceedings comprise much of his concentration. He has successfully, and discreetly, represented scores of professionals — doctors, executives, lawyers, including partners in several prestigious law firms — in criminal investigations and prosecutions and related professional disciplinary proceedings.

Since earning his law degree from Columbia University School of Law in 1971, Mr. Levine has tried over 150 felony jury trials in federal and state courts and briefed and argued over 100 criminal appeals, including arguments before the highest courts of California and New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals.

Having served as an assistant district attorney in both New York County and San Francisco for a total of 12 years, handling complex white-​collar crime and homicide cases. Hugh Anthony Levine brings to bear on the client’s criminal problem the insight and dual perspective of a defender/​former prosecutor.

Active in the criminal defense bar on the national and local levels, Mr. Levine has served as President of the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association of Northern California (1998 – 2000), and has served as vice-​chairman of the White-​Collar Crime committee of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (1992 – 93). He holds an A-​V rating from Martindale-​Hubbell, and is listed in the Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers.
