Was there last night, crazy long line, ordered our favorite Fried Chicken over BBQ Pork Fried Rice and my personal favorite Beef and Scrambled Egg over Rice. We also ordered the J&E Special and Sweet and Sour Chicken for the kids. Food was awesome like always!!! Gonna miss Ray and his family, come Monday J&E will be under new ownership.

My favorite place to grab some food! I always order fried rice over chicken! The wait time is very little and they give you a very big portion of food which is great for 2 people! I definitely recommend this restaurant! You will also love how its family owned everyone is super nice and friendly!

Pretty tasty but a little on the greasy side. I’ve eaten here twice and will return in the future. The food is delicious even despite all the sauce. Will definitely return to try other items on their menu. A good mom & pop local spot in the area and not too pricey.

Their«Chicken Fried Rice» is actually — «Fried Chicken over Fried Rice» Ridiculously tasty and definitely enough for two to share! Service is fast(for those in a hurry) and it’s literally a block away from SFGH. It’s kinda hidden, so be sure to keep an eye out for the address!

I was going to take a photo… but the food looked too delicious and I couldn’t help myself. This place is the poster child of «don’t judge a book by its cover». Hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant with really yummy Chinese food(I swear). Really generous portions with fresh veggies and seafood. I LOVE their seafood combination plate, and it’s almost a crime that it’s only $ 8.25.

I live in the Mission and this is my favorite local Chinese spot. They’re the perfect Chinese restaurant: nothing fancy, really good food, awesome portion sizes. Recommend the seafood combination over rice, spicy pepper chicken over rice, or garlic chicken over rice. They also do fried chicken unexpectedly well — I get it on the side every time.

If you want inexpensive food… this is the place. Big portion but kind of salty and oily. The fried chicken with rice is very good. Also recommend the egg and shrimp over rice. Call the restaurant before 11am to order or else you will need to go there in person to order. Pretty fast so wait is about 10 mins. This one of the best Chinese place around SFGH.

I ordered the no. 1 Lunch plate. I should of ordered something else because the food was so disappointed. First the fried shrimp was burnt, the egg roll warm and the fried rice was warm. Only the sweet and sour pork was hot but too much flour. Waited for 30minutes no reason for it to be warm and no line.

It’s across from SF General and parking can be hit or miss. It’s lots of people going in and out. If you’re looking for your starches rice or noodles. This is like awesome huge amounts of homemade style. Someone posted a picture of their special order. Bbq pork fried rice with a chicken cutlet over it. So simple and so much. I could have just eaten the rice by itself LOL. It’s really very simple. Really good for picky picky eaters. Also got the Bbq pork chow neon and it’s huge and heavy. Again great for picky eaters. Though you may pluck the few pieces of broccoli off. Not enough to make a picky eater crazy. Yet not enough for a really healthy eater to get either. They have lots of really good dishes that are healthy. Burgers and Fries too!

I come here at least once a month when I work at SFGH. This place certainly lacks in ambiance and the waitress kinda throws the food at you, but the fried chicken/pork fried rice is really really good. Heaping portions and a menu that ranges from burger and fries to wonton soup to classic wok-style Chinese fast food. The rock cod with black bean sauce is also very good — strange shape to the fish(rectangular strips, which I’ve never seen before), and the peppers and onions are a bit raw, but the flavor is excellent. Prices are great and there’s always a crowd around noon, so come early or late but avoid the noon hour if you can.

Of course this is not meant to compete with Slanted Door or even San Tung. This is a hole-in-the-wall, family-owned business that serves lots of tasty food at a very affordable price. I am a huge fan of the pork fried rice. I’ve only eaten at the restaurant once(usually opting for take-out), but the conditions inside should not deter you from having a sleep-inducing lunch.

This is either the best Chinese Restaurant in the Mission or the worst, depending on how you look at it. If you like to be given a massive plate of food with so much hot greasy fat covering every morsel that after you take it home the food is still sizzling hot and frying in the hot grease, and so much thick breading covering the fried chicken and prawns that you will be full before you ever get to the meat inside, then this is your place. J&E probably has the most calories per dollar of any restaurant in SF. After eating an entire meal here, if you are not bulimic already you will probably wish you were, or find some other way to purge all of the calories and trans-fat you just consumed. I just finished a meal here and I can already feel my blood pressure rising from clogged arteries and I am feeling a little sleepy from total insulin over usage. I gave this rating of 4 stars by dividing my current blood glucose by 100.

Food is decent for the price but don’t expect any real atmosphere or service. It’s like eating at a home with the kitchen right next to the dining room. I went with my wife and son and after a few minutes of no greeting/service, I had to go grab the menus myself. No water was offered so we had to ask. They seem to only serve you your beverage if it’s one your paying for(soda, juice, etc) Everything tasted good/ok for the price except the sweet and sour prawns. SOBAD! They fry them until they’re burnt and hard then drown them in sauce. So gross and a waste of money. After all of that, I ended up having to walk to the counter to pay since they don’t check up on you or fill waters at all. Also there was only two other tables with 2 people seated, every other order was to go. I understand why.

Chow fun — great Beef with double mushroom– good Spareribs — okay I had to up my rating because I’ve grown SF street smarter and can now appreciate how cheap their prices really are. You won’t be able to find this much food for this few dollars in this neighborhood, or maybe anywhere in SF other than Chinatown. Also, the family that runs this place is very adorable and it takes repeat visits to appreciate that too.

I travel to Frisco at least twice a year and J&E is always my first stop. I’ve been looking all over L.A. for a spot that can match up with their sweet n sour pork but nothing even close. Best Chinese food I’ve ever eaten hands down!
