UPS damaged two tables and a vintage mirror with a painting on glass. J and L did a fantastic job eliminating all signs of the significant damage. Their service was on time and on budget. I highly recommend these gentlemen.

Jai and Lee are rockstars. I took a dresser that had been ignored, lived in a garage for a long time and they worked their magic — it came back looking like a museum piece. My sister and mother have used them multiple times as well for similar results. These guys are the real deal — I now live in Palo Alto, but if I needed something refinished, I’d drive to the city. Also pricing seemed reasonable to me, but I don’t price out refinishing very often — seems like a LOT of work to me.

I bought an antique end table online and surprise, surprise, it wasn’t packed well and arrived in splinters.
Did my research and decided to give this place a try. They are so wonderful and they really know what they’re doing. They told us what era the furniture was from and told us which part had been restored before. It took about a week to finish and I was blown away with how the end table looked like after they were done. It was even more beautiful than before. They refinished everything and even fixed a corner that was smashed in (I didn’t even know you can repair something like that). They’re super professional and gets back to you quickly. I’m so impressed and will come here when any of my furniture needs fixing.

John and Lee just delivered my antique cabinet for my crystal. It had broken glass, chips and was unstable from the last move. It looks wonderful! they matched the wood design and pattern of the wood where they replaced the chipped areas, you can’t tell. they gave it a sateen finish. precise work, and gorgeous. Thanks!

This establishment is the best I have come across in the antique restoration and refinishing business. Not only is Lee, the owner, extremely pleasant to do business with but they can have a quick turnaround for this kind of work if needed and the quality of the restoration work is phenomenal. Lee’s friendly nature is rare amongst people in this trade in my experience and his honesty and integrity are first class.

J&L did an absolute fantastic job restoring my parents-in-law’s side table from the 1920s — it looked stunning after they finished. And the price was reasonable too. I would definitely use them again for any furniture restoration needs.

OMG… I never give out five stars… but this place is amazing. really…when moving, my old chair’s arms and one leg were broken… I brought it to J and L… they said around 2 weeks… I get a call around then… it is as good as new… they even stained the wood to match the color… and the price was great. So completely impressive and nice guys there to. Not much of a storefront. but who cares… the quality is first rate.

J & L Refinishing are the the best! Just entering their location is a history lesson and these brothers do know their history. Upon inspecting the sideboard I wanted to get refinished, I received an intense capsule history of the arts and crafts movement in this country and why certain types of wood were involved. I was very impressed. One of the brothers, if not both, were sculptors in China. Their aesthetic sensibility shines through! I give my highest recommendation.

I inherited my great-grandmother’s mahogany dining room chairs and they all broke during the move cross country. I was devastated. The chairs were badly damaged, some of the backs had completely snapped off.
I was entertaining for Thanksgiving and needed to get the chairs repaired at the last minute.
I called J & L and brought the chairs in the next day. Lee agreed to have them ready by Thanksgiving even though it was less than two weeks away.
Lee kept his word and finished the chairs the day before Thanksgiving. I couldn’t be more pleased with the craftsmanship and quality of the work. It’s excellent!
I cannot tell the chairs were ever broken.
They also gave me a very fair price.
I highly recommend J & L.

Don’t let the dusty, cave-​like state of their workshop fool you. These guys are the real deal. We brought 3 chairs in that had been passed around my boyfriend’s family (beautiful bones, but quite abused). 2 ancient spindle sidechairs and an Arts and Crafts rocking chair in old oak.
After sanding and patching all the chairs, the two nice guys from J&L asked us to come back and pick the finish. They made recommendations, was sensitive to period-​appropriate finishes (color and shine), but weren’t pushy at all.
I just picked up the chairs this morning; I thought they looked like a million bucks, but that’s probably cuz it’s pretty pricey to repair and refinish three beat up old chairs.
When i brought he rocker to the upholsterer, he took one look and said immediately «This is a gorgeous lookin’ chair!»

I am very satisfied with the job done by Li Yan at J & L refinishing. He stripped, refinished, and repaired four dining chairs for me. He gave me a selection of choices and refinishes. They look like new now.
