On the hunt for a new dentist it would seem…
My experiences at this office have been underwhelming, if not bad or uncomfortable.
My first cleaning and visit with Dr. Bhuva was fine, but this is the sort of dentist’s office that really tries to make you feel bad and paranoid about your teeth — heavy handed scare tactics and strange grading systems. They are very judgmental — the hygienist asked me why the backs of my teeth were stained, and I told her it’s because I drink coffee/​tea through a straw to keep the front of my teeth from getting stained… she then told me she assumed I was a smoker or something, which is just rude to say (I’m not).
For my second cleaning, six months later, I wasn’t even seen by a dentist. They told me that I only need to see the dentist once a year. I do NOT buy that and, in 27 years, I’ve never not been seen by the dentist after a cleaning. Also, the hygienist that I had on that second visit made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. Spent a lot of time touching my face, telling me to always wear sunscreen (I do every day… and also, I’m not at the dermatologist), and told me the staining on the back of my teeth (these are surface stains that they buff out every visit) was «cute»…what?
I’m also very annoyed by their billing policies. I’ve literally never received a bill from a dentist — my insurance has always covered it. This place bills you immediately, making you feel like you need to pay them even though your insurance has already covered it… THEN, they send you a follow-​up bill for ~$ 10 for the portion that wasn’t covered by insurance. It seems a little tacky. I’ve never had a dentist bill me for such a tiny amount… especially a dentist that’s in-​network. I mean, fine, whatever… but if I’m not being treated awesome-​ly like I was by my old dentist in NYC who ALSO didn’t bill me for such tiny copay amounts (or whatever this is), then it seems unusual to me…

This practice is amazing!!! The staff is super friendly. The dental hygienist that worked on my teeth was very knowledgeable and explained a lot of things about proper mouth care that I did not know.
My husband recommended Dr. Bhuva to me after I had gone to a dentist that I did not like. The previous dentist wanted to do an unnecessary root canal that Dr. Bhuva said I did not need. The office even sent my husband a bottle of wine for recommending me as a patient! Best dentist ever!

I found Dr. Bhuva on Unilocal in 2011 and I have been going ever since. Great staff, convenient location for those of us that work in the Financial District and great Dentistry overall. I will likely be going here for the remainder of the career in San Francisco.

Dr. Bhuva and her staff are great! It’s so difficult to find medical offices that offer great customer service and her staff do a great job of helping you figure out your out-​of-​pocket, etc. Everyone at the office is friendly and honest with you.
Dr. Bhuva herself has great bedside manners and explains everything before she does it. I recently switched dentists since I moved to another neighborhood and I’m really glad I did. I’m glad I found my dentist!

Love this dentistry group! Wonderful dental office all the way around. Dr. Bhuva helped me out in a pinch, with masterful work done on a moment’s notice. I really appreciate her and her staff (very charming) for their consistent hard work and dedication. Great team!

Dr. Bhuva is a fantastic dentist! A friend of mine recommended her and I have had an excellent experience with her and her staff. I went in a few weeks ago for my yearly check up and a cleaning where they discovered I had a cavity that we need to be filled. During my initial visit Dr. Bhuva and one of her assistance were super informative, telling me the best toothbrush to use for my gums, the best mouth wash and how to floss with a permanent bottom retainer that I have.
When I came back two weeks later to get my cavity filled I was really nervous (unnecessarily so) it was only my second cavity and it has been years so I’d built it up in my head. Dr. Bhuva was super nice and gentle, the whole process took about 20 minutes and was 100% painless.
I would absolutely recommend Dr. Bhuva to anyone looking for a stellar dentist in SF. She is located right by the financial district/​SOMA so it’s convenient to go during work. They also are very timely, both times I was brought back to a room within five minutes of sitting down — very efficient!

Dr. Bhuva is an excellent dentist, and I am glad I found her!
I had a bike accident in which I badly chipped two of my front four teeth (#9 and #10). Dr. Bhuva put crowns on both teeth. She takes a lot of pride in her work. She would not cement anything unless it lives up to the highest aesthetic and functional standards.
For what its worth, my mother works for a dentist in New York (who had been my dentist my entire life before I moved to the Bay Area this year). He is not one to give compliments, but even he had to admit she did a great job.

Dr. Bhuva is hands down the best dentist I have ever had. She is very candid yet caring and she does incredible work. She is unlike many in the industry that rush and don’t take the time to explain conditions — she on the other hand is extremely patient. I would recommend Dr. Bhuva without any reservations at all!

Dr. Bhuva is awesome! I have had 5 dentists in my life and Dr. Bhuva is far and away the best. She is extremely professional and friendly and does a great job making you feel comfortable while you are undergoing any procedure. Her staff is top-​notch and they always brighten up my day when I come in. They get you in and out in no time and are very flexible for cancellations or rescheduling. Location is ideal if you work anywhere in downtown SF. I cannot recommend her any more!

Dr. Bhuva is the BEST! She is so sweet, and such a pleasure to visit when going to the dentist. I decided to do Invisalign, and she has been nothing but amazing through this whole process.
The whole office is great. I dread Dr appointments as they usually suck up your day, but I’m always able to get in and out.

Dr. Bhuva has done a good job on most of my dental work, but her prices are exorbitant. Her staff is pushy and inept and they hassle you more than a patient should be hassled when it comes to payment. It’s in a very convenient location if you need a place to get work done near fidi, but make sure you have the appropriate insurance benefits

What a great experience! (think about the last time you heard that about a dentist…) Everyone at this practice is super friendly — I wish I remembered everyone’s names, but the receptionist Jenny (?), the hygienists Mary (?) and Yvette (?), and Dr. Bhuva herself were all super warm and welcoming. The cleaning took a bit longer than an hour but I’m OK with that. X-​rays and Dr. Bhuva’s exam were super efficient. I’m glad I finally found an awesome dentist in SF!

I’m on month 9 of 12 on my Invisalign that I got through Dr. Bhuva. Everything is looking great! Usually i would have considered this way too expensive, but the awesome front office staff has worked with my PPO insurance, my FSA deadlines, and my own pocketbook to get it down to much more affordable price.

I love Dr. Bhuva! I found her through ZocDoc originally and have been seeing her for the past 2 years now. My husband also goes to her and loves her. I’ve had some bad experiences with dentists in the past and when we moved from the south bay I was really sad to leave a great dentist we had found down there. So much so that I was considering making the hour and a half drive just to keep with him. But, now that I found Dr. Bhuva I don’t have to!
She’s been great for regular checkups and the real test came today when I had to get 3 fillings done. She was a pro, I was in and out of there quickly and with no pain. The office staff is also wonderful and they always ask to see pics of our daughter. They really take the time to get to know their patients — calling everyone by name.
If you need a new dentist, definitely see Dr. Bhuva and her team. She’s in the financial district, but also really close for Soma residents.

Best. Experience. At. The. Dentist. EVER. I went for my first visit last week for a check up since I hadn’t had a dentist appointment for three years (Yeah, horrible of me I know) and my employer just awarded me with Insurance. Bad news, found out I had two cavities and one possible root canal. Dr. Bhuva was very meticulous in explaining everything to me and what options I had. She was not pushy whatsoever and helped me stay calm throughout my experience. Today, I went in to get my fillings done for the first time in my entire life, and it was surprisingly not painful at all. It turned out that I did not require a root canal procedure even though she said I was close to it. I appreciated her honesty and dedication in making sure I was comfortable and satisfied with my experience. This is coming from the chick who absolutely hates going to the dentist.

I had a loose crown (#8, super annoying and made eating a chore) and under 3 hours I had an appointment, was signed up as a new patient and my crown was back to normal. I spent the whole weekend freaking out and Dr. Bhuva and staff put my worries at ease.
Went based entirely on Unilocal reviews and was not disappointed. Staff is ridiculously friendly and made me feel right at home. I was so impressed I voluntarily scheduled a cleaning… and hate going to the dentist.

I had been looking for a good, permanent dentist in SF for a long long time. Here are some things that I was able to accomplish in a smaller amount of time.
–Grad school
–Lived in 4 different neighborhoods
–Met, dated, got engaged to, and married my wife
I’ve tried numerous dentists. Some didn’t seem all that competent. Others gave me «hot box”-like high-​pressure sales tactics, trying to convince me that I not only needed new work done, but that all my previous dental work needed to be RE-​done.
Dr. Bhuva is smart, friendly, and gives you the genuine sense that she actually cares about you and your mouth. She actually called a day or two after a routine cavity filling, just to make sure I was ok. SOLD!

Definitely a win. I have referred three people to her office now. Perfect location and Dr. Bhuva and her staff do a great job.
If you need a new dentist, definitely go here before you starts filling up.

I just came from my cleaning with Dr. Bhuva and it was easily the best experience I’ve ever had at the dentist. I (like many people) have a ton of anxiety about going to the dentist. Dr. Bhuva totally made an effort to calm my nerves. She explained everything she was doing and made me laugh with her sweet personalty. She was gentle, calm, and did extremely good work.
I am very happy with my cleaning and high recommend Dr. Bhuva to anyone in need of great dental care.
As an added bonus, she’s centrally located in the financial district. I went in during my lunch hour and was done in no time.

Dr. Bhuva is fantastic! After moving to San Francisco last year I was worried about finding a new dentist, but as soon as I found Dr. Bhuva all my worries were gone.
She is extremely professional and explains everything she is doing every step of the way, putting it in terms that are easy to understand. I never feel like I am being taken advantage of, like I do with some other dentists who are just trying to make you pay more for work you may not need.
She even called me after I got my cavity filled to see how I was doing. Do yourself a favor and go see her!
