Jason Chapin – Wells Fargo

I originally found Jason through one of the real estate websites as a Below Market Rate (BMR) specialist and contacted him about 2 years ago for advice on how to buy a home through this program.

He was readily willing to share his time by talking with me on the phone at length regarding what was realistic and what I needed to do to prepare for this whole process. At that point, I didn’t have any sort of contractual relationship with him, so basically, he was sharing his personal, evening time with me for free — with no promise of eventual compensation.
Fast forward a few years. After some hard truths from Jason & some guidance, I was ready to make the leap into applying for homes. The BMR system is difficult & time consuming — and undoubtedly not very profitable for the mortgage broker. But Jason was helpful, considerate, and knowledgable. He even dealt with a couple of freak outs that I had pretty well.
All in all, Jason’s a good man to know if you’re purchasing your first home. I highly recommend him as someone who is committed and knowledgeable … and patient!

I worked with Jason to sell my Loft in the dog patch. He is a great guy and very knowledgeable. He took the time to fully understand what my needs were with the transaction and helped me put a solid plan in place to achieve my goals. I was impressed by his thorough knowledge of the various parts of San Francisco and his ability to speak about the particular advantages and disadvantages of each. Jason was constantly involved with the transaction and helped me to set an appropriate price for my neighborhood and unlike some of the other guys I interviewed, he didn’t just tell me what I wanted to hear. He also let me know what was realistic for my area and came armed with information about recent sales etc. The guy even helped the buyers of my place clear contingencies on the transaction. He recommended contractors and painters to me that were great, and was there at all hours of the day and night to ensure that things went as smoothly as possible. I was also amazed by the crazy amount of information he had about the entire transaction. Because he has worked on both the mortgage and the Realtor side of the coin he was able to explain to me all the intricate details that were involved in getting the transaction to close. At each step of the way he kept the transaction flowing smoothly and was able to head off issues before they blew up. His communication and commitment were great, I’ll definitely be using him again.

I worked with Jason a couple of years ago when I bought my first home in the Bay Area, which was my first home buying experience. We knew nothing about how to buy a house, how to get a mortgage, what we could afford, if anything. Jason walked us through everything before we even started to look.
Our mortgage was particularly complicated with th addition of parents on there, but he sorted everything out for us with great ease. Buying our first home was really pretty simple all in all.
Two years, to the day, later, my itchy feet got the better of me and we decided to sell that house and buy another one. Who knew that buying and selling in on transaction was not the Bay Area way of doing things. So now we had the challenge of 4 people on the mortgage, (2 of which are in the Midwest, 1 was in Asia), buying and selling at the same time, and making sure we were past the two year mark from the purchase of the first house. Not easy by all accounts.
Jason came to my rescue again and helped walk me through the whole process, even when I may have already emailed or called him with the same questions six times. He’s patient, professional, and incredibly personable, which when you’re signing your life away you need.
Jason seems to love what he does and as a result knows everything there is to know about the real estate market.
I’ve never had an issue with my mortgages, I feel like I got a great rate and good set up, and so will use Jason every time my feet start itching — if he’ll have me back!
