Business Owner

Jason Louie obtained his double major undergraduate degree in Economics and Legal Studies from UC Berkeley. He obtained his law degree from the University of Maryland at School of Law. Mr. Louie has worked for the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office, and the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office. Mr. Louie has also worked in small and large size law firms on both the east and west coasts. In 1999, Jason established his own practice in San Francisco. Mr. Louie serves on the board of many non-​profit community groups including a $ 20M senior housing facility for the poor. He has been honored by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, the Maryland Attorney General’s Office, and numerous elected officials and judges. Mr. Louie is a highly demanded public speaker and has spoken before AAA, PG&E, American Express, New York Life, Merrill Lynch, U.S. Small Business Administration, University of San Francisco School of Law.

Jason put together a trust for me last year — I was very pleased with the quality of his work and the turnaround time.
This past week I was in Maui and wanted to buy a timeshare. It was a deeded timeshare but I couldn’t remember the name of my Trust. I emailed Jason at 9pm Maui time (midnight PT) on Saturday night. I received his response within 10 minutes that included an attachment of my Trust.
That was extraordinary service!

Just prior to the saddest time in my life, I had been introduced to Jason, who out of the kindness of his heart, took over our matter from a retiring attorney. Shortly thereafter, my family experienced three deaths within 6 months time, my mother and her two sisters. Jason handled our probate, and he was upfront, no big lawyer talk. He held our hand and managed all aspects of the probate without a hitch, explained the process every step of the way and really made it easier, considering our situation. Just shy of a full year, my Grandmother died, and we decided to sell her home. Jason was again, right there ensuring we were well informed throughout the process, he always made himself available to us, promptly returned our calls & emails, and handled the matter with paperwork, and the Real Estate agent in such a matter, all we had to do was pick up our checks. I originally discovered Jason Louie through my company’s Employee Assistance Program so I could get a will written. Boy do I feel lucky to have had him recommended to me. The will process went just fine – pretty turn-​key. But then, years later when I started up my own business, he was instrumental in helping me develop all of my professional documents: contracts, agreements, etc. He continues to be incredibly helpful in guiding me through speed bumps along the way. The part that is so great about working with Jason is that he so effortlessly breaks down legalese into lay man’s terms. Jason is one of the most knowledgable probate attorneys that I have had the pleasure to work with. I worked with him to get through a really sticky case that dragged on for 3+ years. Before talking to Jason, I’ve consulted other attorneys and they were always beating around the bush — perhaps to get the most billable hours out of me.
Jason will set realistic expectations, give you a probability of how SF courts will handle the situation, and what the most likely outcome will be during settlement.
In addition to his knowledge, he provided me with all the tax accountants and appraisers that you will ever need.
I would definitely use Jason again if I had another probate case to mitigate.

I got referred to Jason through HR services at work. He was much more than I had expected. I never had to work with a lawyer before, so the task of finding one was unfamiliar and daunting. He returned my call just a few hours the same day and listened patiently as I explained my situation to him. I really didn’t know what I needed and what to expect. He was thorough in examining my situation and speaking to all of the relevant people on my end to understand our problems. It also helped that he can fully understand and appreciate the cultural aspect of it all.
He wasn’t there to push his services on us, instead he provided with great advice and the most economical options for us to try and resolve our problem. Back in the day, I was a big networker, so I came into contact with many people each month. I knew Jason from a business group, and he was considered the «go-​to-​guy» for estate planning among my colleagues.
My issue was on something else: hiring an intern. But he knew a lot about that, too. He taught me so much about the subject, that I totally rewrote my intern agreement and was much more careful of what duties to give the intern.
It might sound strange, but if I want to expand my business, I talk to Jason first. He helps me expand my business in a safer way (i.e., fewer potential legal pitfalls) and sleep easier at night.
