He operated on my right rotator cuff several years ago from a sports injury. My outcome was perfection. I did precisely what he said to do to ensure full recovery. I was back doing push-​ups, weights, lifting, everything and more I did prior to surgery, and only with a magnifying glass can to see 3 pin scars, basically no scarring.
Further, my right shoulder hurt, I had to see a shoulder doctor close to my location. He recommended PT 10 weeks 2 X a week said it was a complicated, rare injury intimating surgery if PT didn’t work. I saw Dr. Halbrecht today, he gave me a cortisone shot, would Not recommend PT, said I may need another shot would be fine back to training!

I have seen Dr. Halbrecht over the years for several things – knees, shoulder etc–
every time i thought i needed surgery, he was very cautious and wanted to explore physical therapy and alternative routes to getting healthy, which i really appreciated as surgery should be a last resort. I also found that refreshing considering surgery is a surgeons bread and butter.
I had a torn rotator cuff – partial – and was certain i needed surgery and we spent 6 months back and forth on it – and we took one more pass at the PT and i was able to get rid of 95% of the pain – i am very grateful to Dr. Halbrecht for being prudent about surgery, especially since rotator cuff surgery takes a long time to heal and i have a 4 year old – it would have been tough.
When i did finally get surgery on my knee – he did an awesome job, and i recuperated very quickly – the entire experience was top notch and i would highly recommend working with Dr. Halbrecht.

Dr. Halbrecht is a fantastic surgeon. I went to him for a second opinion and I was so impressed by his precision and remembering everything I told him when 10 minutes later he spoke verbatim everything I had told him into his recorder. I also valued his opinion and decided to have my ACL surgery by him because he spoke «as a matter of fact» and wasn’t pushing me to have the surgery.
I had my surgery in late March and 7 months later, I am back in the gym and exercising.
Had a few issues with some of the ladies running his front desk, but they have since been replaced. The only advice would be to get a handicapped parking permit prior to surgery and no one ever informed me of that. Otherwise, Dr. H is your man. Great surgeon, I healed very well and quickly and the scars are barely visable, I think he can do surgery in his sleep he’s so good. I highly recommend him.

I am one of many people (aging athletes) I know in Marin who have had the good fortune to have Dr. Halbrecht as a surgeon. One evening, while standing outside Belvedere Tennis Club, my husband and I ran into an old friend from Williams College. He was on crutches — just had a very complicated mid-​body reconstructive surgery after a very bad fall from his racing bike while competing. We let him know that my husband had achilles tendon surgery (skiing), shoulder reconstruction (rugby) and knee surgery (years of great use) in the last five years, and that I was on my 6^th month of recovery from a shoulder surgery after tearing my rotator cuff playing in a tennis match. Then, out from the club doors came a woman I know who was also on crutches after having knee surgery (tennis injury). Soon after we all started bragging about what a wonderful job our surgeon had done, did we realize that we were all patients of Dr. Jeffery Halbrecht! We all sought out the very best doctor we could find because the results were so very important to us so that we could maintain our active lifestyles. It’s been a year since that encounter, and all five of us are mobile, pain free, and back to playing the sports we love so much. Dr. Halbrecht is extremely talented, and I recommend him highly to anyone who is an athlete and wants to remain one for many, many years!

update: had surgery last week. It was the easiest of my 10 and I’m already feeling fantastic. One week out, I already have the range of motion some other docs said I’d never get back. Couldn’t be more grateful.
I literally consider him a life– saver since the life of not knowing what I was going to be able to do that day was not one I could stand. Go see Halbrecht if you’re feeling lost or overwhelmed by other docs and let yourself listen to a very level headed doctor come up with a great game plan. Thanks Dr. Halbrecht!

Dr. Halbrecht and staff represent an excellent team of healthcare professionals. The office is clean, organized, and welcoming. Maria and Francis are quite helpful with organizing appointments and surgery situations, and Lauren and Dr. Halbrecht are caring healthcare professionals who are respectful, efficient and informative.
Specifically, Dr. Halbrecht saved my bacon after being discharged from Stanford’s emergency room the night before. They missed a major health issue after a bad bike accident. Dr. Halbrecht caught it on our first consultation and sent me right back to the hospital for what ended up being a several day hospital day. Yep, Stanford’s team missed it, Dr. H caught it. He called several times from his cell phone to check in on me, and then we scheduled a time where he patched me up with some plates and screws. Today he continues to support my recovery.

Dr. Halbrecht is a fantastic surgeon who totally repaired my rotator cuff! He answered all my questions pre and post surgery and I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Halbrecht is great! I like his friendly, professional, and direct to the point style. He is knowledgeable and experienced in his work. Dr. Halbrecht reminded me of Sherlock Holmes when he was recording his thorough analysis of my troubled hip joint. He also recommended me for a second opinion after reviewing my MRI result and that made me trust him even more.

I came to Dr H as a workers Comp case. The staff here from receptionist, to Medical assistants, to X-​ray tech to the Physicians Assistant to Dr H himself all rock! They take the time to explain things in laypersons terms and make treatment easy.

Saw Dr. Halbrecht for severe shoulder pain. He reviewed my MRI and suggested a cortisone injection. I was very grateful for that, as the MD I had seen previously offered me a shoulder replacement. Although the wait was a little long, I was not anxious .His assistant was kind. Dr. H is respectful, kind, gentle and very open. My pain is gone tonight! I hope it stays like that!

Dr. Halbrecht and his team are super nice and easy to work with. The doctor is thorough and thoughtful and seems to really know his stuff. Highly recommend. Just beware that parking can be tough around the building but they do have underground parking for vehicles under 7′. Found out the hard way about that and was late to my appointment as a result. That’s about the only negative though!

Wonderful attentive staff. Very sensitive to time and handling patients efficiently but not rushed. Dr. Halbrecht is the consummate professional, extremely knowledgeable of standard and leading edge treatments for the knee…

Dr. Halbrecht is excellent. I had a really bad work related shoulder impingement injury and was unceremoniously bounced from hospital to clinic, doctor to doctor for over three months. I finally landed with Dr. Halbrecht and that man is a saving grace. The staff is on point: professional (but NOT stiff), courteous and friendly. Dr. Halbrecht was kind, a little funny, and very helpful; and he fixed me! So if you ever have the misfortune of being placed in medical care, especially for joint or musculoskeletal pain for any shoulder related injury, this guy knows what he’s doing and he will help. I’m very thankful to that staff for getting me back to work. Dr. Halbrecht is excellent, so if you’re in the Bay Area looking for a shoulder specialist, go see Dr. Halbrecht. You absolutely won’t regret it.

Dr Halbrecht and his staff are great. Surgery on my shoulder was flawless. With a completely torn Labrum I was concerned that I would not have full range/​strength back, but I’m almost 100% in only a few months.

Dr Halbrecht is stellar! If you want the best surgeon to operate on you and take care of you, from start to finish, Dr Halbrecht is the best! Without any hesitation I wholeheartedly recommend him! My 22 daughter had torn her meniscus her junior year in high school. Then, she had an unsuccessful surgery and was left with only a ¹⁄₃ of her meniscus and bone-​on-​bone results. Her condition had deteriorated over the years and there was no way I was going to send her back to the original surgeon. In fact, our original surgeon recommended a meniscus transplant but stated he did not have much experience doing this procedure and would not want to try. In fact, he told us very few orthopedic surgeons could actually do this successfully, and thus, recommended Dr Halbrecht and one other doctor, but he was located in Colorado.
By the time we had come to Dr Halbrecht, my daughter was walking bone-​on-​bone and she had ground a divet into her bone. She lost her once active lifestyle and her knee was constantly swollen and in pain. She was too young to be so «crippled.» I needed the BEST surgeon to operate on her and give her years of active life.
Our initial consultation with Dr Halbrecht was impressive. He exuded confidence and knowledge and I walked away from that meeting fully trusting he could take care of my daughter. I was ready for surgery that day! It turned out that not only would she need a meniscus transplant, but also a cartilage transplant, both procedures he was fully capable of doing. This is amazing. I don’t think there are many orthopedic surgeons who can do that.
Our insurance initially denied the surgery, but Dr Halbrecht went to bat for us, submitted necessary paperwork and proof, wrote a strong letter, and in the end, my daughter was granted permission. We did nothing but wait. He made everything happen. We are extremely grateful.
It has been 6 months after my daughter’s surgery. She is walking proof of Dr Halbrecht’s skills as a surgeon. She is working 40 hours/​week, doing physical therapy, and walking normally. I am confident in her full recovery and her future. Dr Halbrecht continues to take care of her, and I have absolutely no complaints. Our experience with him, his staff and his wonderful PA, Laura, was and is stellar!
A side story: when my daughter was sitting in a restaurant a few months ago, she met two orthopedic surgeons. She told them about her surgery, showed them her knee and they both took the time to examine her, right there in the restaurant. Both surgeons exclaimed «Wow! This looks great! Your knee looks amazing!» Dr Halbrecht is the best!

Dr. Halbrecht, his PA and his whole team are great. They’re professional, helpful and make you feel like you’re not «in a doctor’s office». When life happens and you have to change an appointment, it’s seamless. TEXT MESSAGE REMINDERS ARE GREAT! If you forget to text back yes or no, they’ll call you anyways.
My father is a very well respected surgeon in the Seattle area; he vetted Dr. Halbrecht before I got surgery for my meniscus (he wanted to make sure I was well taken care of) The care and concern put into the decision to actually do surgery or not is a difficult one and one that Dr. Halbrecht takes very seriously. I hope I don’t have a reason to go back to him but if I do I definitely will.

I received excellent care from Dr. Halbrecht and his staff. My surgery went smoothly and follow-​up care has been excellent. My rotator cuff repair has gone much more smoothly than I had anticipated. I highly recommend Dr. Halbrecht’s office.

very surprised by some of the negative reviews here. I had a really great experience.
It was pretty smooth getting an appt. I waited maybe 2 minutes in the lobby after filling out my paperwork. the tech who did my fluoroscopy was very nice, fast and professional. Once in the exam room, the doctor came in within 3 minutes. He was very professional. He performed an ultrasound on my shoulder and read the fluoroscopy with me. He was able to diagnose me on the spot for one problem and I have to get an MRI for confirmation of another. He was very patient, gave me detailed explanations and answered all my questions. I asked him lots of questions. He spent about 30 minutes with me, which is unheard of with other doctors I see. This was just an initial consultation, and will meet with him again after follow-​up and update the post. l
