I’m probably going to jinx myself by saying this, but I’ve always found the ‘perfect’ gift here(and I’ve been shopping here for a year). The gal who runs this place has the most amazing taste — she has a small but perfectly formed range of jewellery for the girls(mostly of the metal/beaded variety) Lots of the pieces you’ll find here are trifari, which I have a major wallet-weakness for. But there are nice boys’ things here too like belt buckles, cool cufflinks, whiskey glasses, playing card holders etc. One of my top places to shop/browse in SF. Oh and I should probably mention that you won’t have to sell your car to buy that miniature pineapple brooch. Don’t forget to say hello to Josephine — the cute and friendly doggy who will greet you as you walk in.

Oh, how I adore this shop. She’s always getting new darling vintage pieces in worthy of a Great Gatsby era cocktail party. Not many jewels or stones, mostly silver and gold, lots of cute and kitschy animal pieces as well, including a monkey that I’m currently coveting. I have an adorable purple bird in a jungle tree from this shop around my neck as I type… Tottally chic and affordable(!) vintage necklaces and bracelets, cocktail glasses and bar pieces, candy dishes and other assorted tabletop deco, and a few ladylike change purses. Also a decent collection of funky All American belt buckles for the bored hipster with the handlebar mustache you just dragged in with you.

For a shop with so little in it(and such little items for sale) I was expecting big price tags. I was shocked when I found prices I agreed with. $ 30 for an owl necklace that looks like something my Aunt Gert would have cherished is a bargain. You buy something here and there’s a guarantee that no one else in the city will have the same one. I appreciate that the tags on things are always face-up. I cannot stand it when stores hide prices from you. The inventory changes frequently. If you don’t see anything you like the first time go back a week later and you’ll find something you«need.» Funny how I define the word«need»…
