My experience with Josh has been stellar. Please note, I have been seeing Josh not for massage, but for various energy healing modalities that, as of this date, he is a student of. Josh has met my concerns and presenting issues with compassion and patience, and I have always left our energy-​oriented sessions feeling clearer and more at ease.
He’s on top of emails and texting, and really wants to be there fully for his clients.

Joshua Alexander is a uniquely skilled massage and body work therapist. He is very bright, sensitive, and has outstanding hands. He was very helpful to me and his therapy is performed in a beautiful setting with comforting music in the background.

I just cant say enough about Josh and the work he does! I would send anyone I know looking for an amazing experience his way any time. He is professional, effective, considerate and well versed in a number of techniques that make for a great session.
When I first contacted him he took the time to speak with me on the phone, get an idea of where I was at with my body, what I was looking for and what I wanted to work on. It was so nice to have someone actually stop and listen and chose a course of action based on my needs. On the phone and during the sessions he is very focused and present and I can’t say how much I appreciate that.
I have since had a few sessions and my body is feeling great, I am doing much better at the gym, im recovering faster, feeling better with my body and I am able to relax like never before. My stress and tension is virtually non existent. I also love the fact that he will use a wide array of tools/​skills from deep tissue, to unwinding to cranial sacral (not sure if i spelled that correctly) and they are all very productive sessions. He also does a great job of communicating things he notices in my body and offering stretches to do between session.
I did purchase one of his packages, and for the quality of work that is done, it is an amazing deal, and very convenient. I just paid once for several sessions and when I go to my appointments I don’t have to worry about bringing anything. I just show up and receive amazing healing time after time.

I went to see Joshua for a massage and left feeling so well taken care of and nurtured. His style is gentle yet commanding and experienced. I was impressed with his checking in with me about my physical and emotional health. My only negative is that I should have seen him years before. I look forward to another session. Thanks Joshua.

So, where does a massage therapist go when she needs some work? An hour travel time from the East Bay, up a staircase I’d only imagined in my Washington DC nightmares, (but what a view) and to an unassuming home with an oasis of healing.
Joshua was able to get my chronically painful neck and shoulder to unwind, giving me rare relief.
His demeanor is professional without being clinical (note to self, be less clinical) and his presence is calming. I had a sense of space holding that allowed my body and brain to relax and allow healing in.
I also have to thank him for reminding me by example of a technique I don’t use enough.

Josh is very professional and very well informed about his art. It was a great experience and after the session he gave me recommendations on how to work on some of my problem areas to reduce tension. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great massage.

Josh is a god!!! I went to see if all the 5 star ratings were real and let me tell you they are! I have lived in this city for 30 years and hands down Josh is the best!

I am in town on business, and after a long day of holding meetings on my feet, decided I needed a massage to relax my sore body.
I found Josh’s website through Google. I liked what he had to say, and all that he stated on his site.
Josh is a professional and knows exactly how to figure out what his clients’ body’s need. During the 90 minute massage I went in and out of a state of being there and my mind floating away.
I highly recommend Josh. If I lived in San Francisco, I would definitely become a regular.

Joshua Alexander is by far the best massage therapist that I have ever been to.
He is very fantastic in finding out what it is your body going through, and then he makes sure that the massage he is giving you is the best for you.
His studio is very comfortable and makes the massage experience all the more spiritual. I would only say that for me it was too hot inside but I should have said so !!

As a small business owner, it’s all too easy for me to skip the gym in order to keep working. Stress tends to accumulate in my neck and shoulders. It builds up slowly causing headaches and reducing my productivity.
Josh is more than a massage therapist. He’s my guru of stress relief. On my first visit, I filled out an intake form detailing my symptoms and pain points. He took the time to learn about what I was experiencing and to build a customized plan that fit my needs. He also offered advice on stretching techniques that I could do on my own.
When it comes to massage, Josh is a master of his craft. I swear that sometimes I can actually feel him reach into my shoulders and literally pull out the stress. I always walk away from the experience feeling like I’ve just returned from a long relaxing vacation.

Yesterday, I saw Josh for bodywork. I’ve been dealing with a shoulder injury for several decades, intermittently. I can be pain-​free for a long while, and then some small thing will happen that will cause persistent pain sometimes for many months, more. It’s been hurting a lot since August, though less so in recent weeks.
We hadn’t intended to work on my shoulder, but that was what happened.
He called his method «unwinding». It was an incredible experience, and the results have been extraordinary. It’s 30 hours since the experience and I’ve been completely pain-​free, for the first time in more than 6 months. And, at the moment at least, I’m able to move my arm in directions I haven’t been able to move it, at least not without pain, in a long time. I’m able to reach. I’m being careful, moving slowly into those previously-​inaccessible places. The point is, I’m moving through them and not even coming close to hurting myself.
It feels incredibly good. Even if it doesn’t last, this is incredible.

I have had several massages from Josh and an EFT session. Each time I leave my body is in pure bliss and my mind at rest. I’ve even had people comment more than once after a session with him that I appear to be glowing and light!
Josh takes time to understand not just what I can ‘feel’ going on with my body, but also what my day or week has been like. Taking time to review past work together and understanding my current circumstance I always know Josh is crafting a session that will give me exactly the work I need. His expansive knowledge and training are evident in his expert touch and I’ve often told him it feels as though his hands are listening to my muscles — sensing just how they need to work and which areas require their expertise.
I feel held by his presence in a way I’ve never felt with a massage and it’s this comfort that opened me to EFT. He clearly, patiently described what EFT was intended to do, what it could be, and openly discussed the reactions many people have had to this work. It was definitely more than I had bargained for, but his presence, warmth, and skill allowed me to open up to the work and discover myself in a way I haven’t been able to do on my own.
Josh always provides more than a massage, more than relaxation. He provides a place to rest, release, rejuvenate and even learn about my body, mind, and soul.

I’ve been going to Josh for a little under a year now and have to say he is one of the best massage therapists I’ve worked with. (And I’m certified in Swedish and Thai massage so I’ve got some experience.) He’s incredibly knowledgeable, very relaxing and has a great space! I recommend him to all my friends!

Josh set me at ease from the moment I entered his space. He asked all the right questions, encouraged me to discuss any issues that worried me, and answered any questions I had. He took a moment before he started working on me to clearly ask if he had permission to work on my body. I don’t recall having a massage therapist ask quite that way before, and it was somehow significant for me (in a good way).
As for the work itself, I don’t think I’ve ever had a better massage. He has both training and an intuitive sense of what’s going on with the body and how to work it all out. When I’m on his table, I can just tell him what’s bothering me and trust him to make it better.

Josh is incredible. How amazing to have an entire session where the practitioner is absolutely present for every second! Josh took some great time with me before the massage to talk about what was going on for my body and what kind of work I needed, where to focus, etc. He gave me the exact kind of session that my body needed; it could not have been more perfect. Josh is ready to craft each session to exactly what the client is looking for; he has a wide range of modalities and tools under his belt. He creates unique, personal sessions versus a cut and dry, standard massage that you might find elsewhere.
I felt very safe and comfortable in Josh’s presence. His massage space is tranquil and beautiful, with flowing silk curtains, beautiful art, relaxing music, a table warming pad, and nice lighting. He is a great resource for many different healing modalities; we spoke of Flower Essences and he also gave me some exercises to do on my own at home to further the effects of the bodwork. I felt he was truly present and supportive of my healing process, and gave me the rare gift of a session crafted just for me. If I lived in San Francisco, I would love to see Josh often for a truly healing and transformational bodywork experience! I think that he is a great person to see for true healing. Thanks Josh!

When I walked into Josh’s massage studio, it was like entering into a sacred space. Giant crystals were radiating positive energy into the room; there was interesting artwork on the walls, and peaceful music permeated the space.
Josh was professional and friendly. He showed an honest and genuine concern for me as he asked various questions about my life. Then he had me up on the table, which was warm and to my level of comfort (an unusual thing during massage sessions!) and performed what was one of the best massages I had had in my life. He asked questions to make sure that things felt the way they should; worked on the areas that I indicated and had a keen intuitive judgment about where to work, what techniques to use, and how much pressure to use.
During the two months that I have been going to him for massage, I have noticed a significant improvement in my chronic shoulder, neck, and back pain. The tingling in my hands has gone away, and my range of motion in my rotator cuff has improved as well.
For therapeutic massage, Josh would be the one that I would recommend to any of my friends.

Josh does good work. He is very intuitive about what ails me and often I find myself trusting that he will find the problem and solve it. Although he does several types of work, I appreciate that he manages to use strong pressure without any painful prodding. He is always able to work out the problem. Josh has helped me with some serious injuries (a nearly fatal accident in the ocean) and also day– to — day tension, which I hold in my neck and back.
That said, it may be who Josh is and not just what he does that makes him so special as a therapist. He is a kind and centered person and this shows in his work. I have used massage therapists for years and DO recommend Josh!!!

I visited Joshua on a friend’s recommendation because I was experiencing some rather painful tension in my back. The introductory interview is thorough, going to great lengths to learn of any medical or physical conditions that a massage therapist ought to know about ahead of time.
The environment is very relaxing, with soothing music, lighting, and décor. Even the massage table is heated. Between the relaxing atmosphere and Joshua’s friendly demeanor, I quickly felt comfortable and at-​ease, both of which are essential for an effective massage.
Don’t be fooled by his small frame; he has strong, capable hands. He was able to pinpoint the source of the tension in my back and spent a good deal of time using a variety of techniques to work it out. I felt remarkably better afterward.
Though I initially thought his rates were a little high, this is one instance in which you truly do get what you pay for. Well worth it, and highly recommended.
