Julie Baker Interiors

Julie Baker’s sense of color and design was apparent to me when i stepped into my friends newly remodeled home that she had designed. I was yet to meet her but could tell from her color sense that she was the gal for me.
My husband and I were going to step into the world of redesigning our living room and so we set up a consult with Julie. She was interested in how we used our space, what we loved and what we were drawn to. She set to work picking out colors for our walls, giving us ideas for furniture and bringing us bundles of fabrics for our pillows and soon– to– be reupholstered couch.
Julie was a pleasure to work with, collaborative and gave us so many good ideas. I can’t recommend her highly enough. She has a wealth of knowledge, relationships with so many vendors and contractors and understood and worked within our budget and gave us alot of bang for our buck!

In my experience working for a general contractor for over 20 years I have met and worked with a crazy spectrum of interior designers. From designers that literally cannot draw a plan, to designers that take a stab in the dark at things during the planning stage and then tear a bunch of items apart once the project is built because their stab in the dark wasn’t so great. To designers that only specify the most expensive items for finishes, figuring if it’s expensive it has to look good. Or worst — designers that want to mark up every item they have spec’d for a project by 20% or more for their own profit. I could go on and on and I should add I have worked with some good and great designers as well.
I met Julie while working on a project last year and would like to put her into the great category. Julie came to the pre-​construction meeting with absolutely no attitude, well prepared, listened to what the homeowner wanted. She prepared excellent working drawings including cabinet elevations, lighting plans, etc. All the while being attentive to schedule, possible structural/​mechanical conflicts presented by us the contractor, the homeowner’s changes, etc. The end result of the project was a remodeled kitchen/​dining/​family area that looked fantastic and was exactly what the homeowner wanted.
In my experience Julie is up there with the best designers I’ve worked with but what really sets Julie apart is her listening ability, her hardworking no nonsense approach attitude and her reasonable hourly rates.

Julie gets five stars for sticking with an impossible timeline, and for being exceptionally easy to work with when juggling variables like scope, scale, placement, color, texture. Levelheaded and realistic about budget, and yet inspired by a creative, fertile mind, she brings an assurance and confidence to our project that is resulting in exciting spaces. Julie is my go to person for all design decisions at my home and office. She has a wide scope of experience and knowledge. Besides being visionary, she’s one of the best listeners I have ever met. The end result of our home remodel is outstanding and after 3 years, we are loving it more and more.
