The neurologist who saw me in 2014 when I was severely ill didn’t even think to order a B12 test. My symptoms which had accelerated after a surgical procedure were irritability/​depression, terrible insomnia, shooting pains in my legs, panic attacks. A good neurologist ought to know these are some of the symptoms of B12 deficiency. He certainly ordered lots of other exotic tests, like Lyme, etc. Another issue (not his fault, the problem is the lab ranges used by Kaiser’s lab) is that the bottom cutoff for B12 deficiency is way too low and ought to be raised. In any case, I have suffered permanent nerve damage due to late diagnosis of a B12 deficiency and a good neurologist should have figured it out. It wasn’t until I was taken to the Kaiser ER in Santa Clara several months later where an alert ER doctor there ordered a B12 test.
I had continuing problems with my feet that were not getting diagnosed by the Kaiser neurologist I was seeing. I ended up going to Mayo Clinic (at MY expense) to learn what the real problem was.
For a neurology department in a major city the SF facilities are woefully poorly equipped. They should at least have a tilt table for evaluating autonomic and orthostatic problems (small nerve fibers). They do have equipment for EMG and nerve conduction studies which test the large nerve fibers.

Kaiser has Always been very good to me and has Provided the Best Medical Care! I Think that I will keep Kaiser for the rest of my Life they have a Good OBGYN…

Thank God for Obamacare in this country. Kaiser the gouger, that’s all I’m saying.

I know that some people don’t like kaiser but everyone has their own opinion. I like kaiser because of the vast options of care, doctors and variety of specialties and medical options. I’ve been with kaiser my whole life and have actually been their lab rat for a few items, which I don’t mind. Usually the treatment is really good but sometimes you have to stand up for yourself and demand what you want. 5 stars simply because I doubt I could get better care elsewhere. Had CPMC but bleh, everything there was so outdated and the rooms were just, yeah, I don’t know, just not my cup of tea.
