She is currently in full time clinical practice at Azzolino Chiropractic Neurology & Integrative Wellness in San Francisco specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of various neurological and musculoskeletal disorders. She has extensive experience working with children and adults with ADHD, anxiety, degenerative disc disease, depression, developmental delays, dyslexia, learning differences, sciatica, tic disorders, vertigo, and many more. Dr. McDermont grew up in the Midwest and completed her undergraduate education focusing on Kinesiology at University of Illinois with honors. There, she was President of McKinley Health Center’s Special Populations Health Concerns Committee. Through this role, she organized health fairs for over 4000 people, gave health education workshops for special populations including minorities, LGBT, international students, etc., and did other community outreach volunteer work in the health field. She obtained her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University where she graduated Cum Laude and received the Contemporary Scientific Paradigms Award for her graduating class. She has over 1000 hours of functional neurology training and is a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (DACNB). She serves the community by doing volunteering in classrooms, teaching workshops to teachers, and teaching exercise classes for all ages. She appreciates any opportunity to do health education.

It is funny that a self-​promoting chiropractor, who has never been in medical school, never done a neurology residency … calls herself a «Neurologist» and ranks higher that all UCSF and Stanford and all community (CPMC, PAMF, etc) REAL neurologists in Unilocal!
Good Job Dr McDermont!
If you remove the «Neurologist» from your title, your title will be not misleading. If you really wish to be a neurologist, you may consider going to medical school, doing a residency, etc. but I don’t see anything wrong with being a Chiropractor and as long as you help patients it does not matter.

Dr. McDermont has done wonders for my neck pain. I had been dealing with the pain on and off for about 2 years. I went to see her during one of my painful episodes and she not only took care of me but she gave me hope that together we could get rid of the problems ailing my neck issues.
After about 8 sessions, she got rid of my neck pain and she actually helped the root of the problem: my posture. My posture has totally changed after 4 years of rounded shoulders! I still can’t even believe it. I had gotten so used to having the mental note of «shoulders back» throughout the day and it never really making much of a difference. I’ll never forget the one day that I told my self to pull my shoulders back and they were already there. Still so happy about that.
She was also very clear on explaining why my at-​home exercises were going to help the process (instead of just telling me to do them) and it made me want to do them instead of it feeling like a chore. That was huge because I never really followed through with at-​home exercises before.
I put my trust in her recommended protocol and she delivered and then some.
Everything from her demeanor to her professionalism was on point for my time with her. I feel so confident recommending her that I would send my mother :)

Dr. McDermott is awesome. She helped me with a vertigo problem and in a few short weeks my balance, memory and reaction time were back to normal. Dr. McDermont is highly qualified and I would recommend her to anyone that is experiencing any of these symptoms.

Dr. Katherine knows what she is doing. She is not your basic Chiropractor. She is very detailed orientated, focused and gets results. If you have migraines, she can help with that too!

Absolutely phenomenal!
I’ve been to a few other chiropractors from Palo Alto to Napa and by far, Bria is my favorite!
Instead of describing the pain then getting adjusted, Bria took me through a whole assessment first. She asked me questions about my body’s entire history, did a variety of tests to pin point the cause and then proceeded with the adjustments.
I’ve been with her now for almost four weeks and I’m loving the progress with how much better my body’s feeling! I know everyone will enjoy her radiant personality! She always walks into the room with her signature smile ready to give you her undivided attention.
The staff here is friendly, attentive and well organized. The location is quiet and parking is a breeze! On top of that all it is very reasonably priced for everything you get.
Overall I’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences here! Highly recommended and will continue to come back!

As most folks on here have expressed their experiences visiting Dr. Katherine McDermont, mine isn’t vastly different. I am the type who believes in (If its not killing me, I am not going to see a doctor). Not too long ago, I woke up with paralyzing pain in my lower back. The sort of pain that was beyond incapacitating and unfamiliar. Surprise, I am a human after all.
I went in to see Dr. McDermont and was rather impressed with her professionalism. It was my first time visit at a Chiropractic Office and didn’t know what to expect. She took the time to get to know what my problem was, stressed-​tested few scenarios of what might be causing this pain before making any treatment recommendations. I knew right away I was in the right place.
Dr. McDermont is well equipped both with wealth of knowledge in Functional Neurology and the type of equipment needed in order to be help patients. I walked out of her office feeling great physically and knowing that my pain issues have been fully addressed rather than just an adjustment.
I would recommend Dr. McDermont to anyone seeking a true long-​term solution to their pain. She is a gifted Dr. with healing hands who can help fix physical ailments by re-​wiring ones brain to overcome almost any type of pain. She truly is a miracle worker.

Since a severe case of encephalitis and cancer, I have been on a health journey which has included some non-​mainstream approaches. After three long years, I knew some issues never subsided or would wax and wane, especially my POT (autonomic dysfunction/​dystanomia) which caused much cognitive issues. Being referred to Dr. McDermont and after being analyzed and starting my brain based therapy program, I have made huge, huge steps ! She was never afraid of my difficult case and she has truly been a godsend. Her tests were accurate, her personalized program has kept me exercising my brain both at her office and at home. Her chiro treatments began later, knowing my brain could not handle too much too fast. She explains the body and how it correlates to the brain (and vice versa) and she informs me of what is happening at all times. Love the office staff and they are very very caring as well.
There have been only a few people I can say have really saved me these last few years and Dr McDermont is one of them.
Ps. I love the fact that she trained at the Carrick Institute too!

Dr. McDermont is wonderful young chiro. So far I have seen her for only about 3 visits and I am already seeing results. She suggested I download an app to complement with my visits and by doing the exercises I am seeing an improvement re my my memory.
I definitely recommend her. She is a professional and specializes in neurology chiro. 5 stars for her!!!

Dr McDermont is very professional. I was suffering from neck pain and back pain because of wrong position of breastfeeding. She helped me with neck exercise and laser treatment. After 8 visits or so, my neck pain is gone! :)
I will recommend her to anyone who is suffering neck pain or back pain.

Dr. Katherine McDermont is a miracle worker. I have been suffering from migraines for years. Dr. Katherine did a presentation in my networking meeting and almost everyone looked at me and said that I needed to have her treat me. Reluctantly, I met with Dr. Katherine. She really cares about her patients. After many tests, I was put on a treatment regimen. To my surprise, my migraines went from almost daily to twice or once a week. As I know they are brought on by stress and my jaw, I have been given exercise to assist in controlling these migraines. Unfortunately, I don’t always follow the doctors’ orders as often as I should. While I have not gone through a week with no headache, I believe with Dr. Katherine McDermont, I am on my way. Thank you for being my miracle worker.

I’ve been working with Dr. McDermont for just about a month now and the results have been beyond what I ever could have expected. I’ve been suffering with chronic migraines since I was 7 year old, and I am 24 now so that’s about 17 years. The migraines have been about twice a week on average. I’ve been migraine free for two weeks now and for me that is a HUGE accomplishment. Not to mention I’ve been migraine free through a pretty stressful time right now studying for finals. I feel like this is the first doctor I have ever seen who has taken the work to dig a little deeper and really find what the root cause of my problem is without just shoving a prescription my way or saying there is really nothing they can do. Dr. McDermont isn’t just here for only your chiropractic needs, she’s here to help you change the pattern of chronic neurological issues that people have been experiencing for years. I highly recommend you get into to see her if your are suffering from something as debilitating as I was, or if you know someone else that is.

More than a chiropractor! Dr McDermont treated my son post third concussion in high school sports. Many other parents from his high school take their injured athlete children here, too. She could be the unofficial team doc for our high school. She is patient with my son, did a full analysis and discussion /​review with him. I trust her opinion and care with him. The brain is a totally tricky thing but she addressed his injuries and recovery very effectively and competently.

I had heard Dr. McDermont speak about how she can work with children having a variety of issues by doing various assessments and test right in her office. I was initially concerned because I had heard a number of chiropractors talk about adjustments curing everything. My 6 year old son was having issues in school with paying attention and behavior in class. I figured I would give this a try and see what the results would be. For our initial appointment, Dr. McDermont spent about 45 minutes having my son do various test from balance, tracking lights, to smelling scents. At the end, she explained to me how the various tests told her the story of how the brain was communicating to the body. After the assessment, my son was given a small adjustment and a handful of exercises to perform. This was the part that blew my mind away. After performing these exercises (about 5 minutes, 3 to 5 times a day) for less than a month, we were getting notes home from his teacher about a complete change in our son in the classroom. While we did go see Dr. McDermont on a weekly basis for about a month to update his exercises based on changes in his «brain communication» I never felt like I was getting the come back three times a week for the rest of your life that I hear from many chiropractors. If you get a chance to listen to her speak at one of her many speaking engagements, go listen to what she has to say, you may find the answer to something you have been trying to fix.

I had a friend recommend Dr. McDermont to me when I was having some issues with anxiety. I started getting anxious about sitting in traffic, and it was impacting my social life because I would choose to stay home or cancel appointments if i saw any traffic on Google Maps. It was getting pretty ridiculous.
When I went and saw Dr. McDermont she was very professional and put me at ease right away. After talking with me, she explained in detail what she thought was causing the anxiety and how to fix it. She gave me a simple brain exercise to do on the computer 5 times a day for 3 minutes each time. I followed her instructions and did the exercise for a week. What was even better was that she followed up with me while I was doing the exercises to make sure I was doing them. I can slack off sometimes, so this was greatly appreciated.
By day three I noticed that I wasn’t having issues while I was stuck in traffic. By day 5 I was driving around the city like normal again. I can’t express how excited I was to get results so quickly! Thank you so much Dr. McDermont! It’s great to be in control of my life again!

Dr. McDermont is not your typical chiropractor! She is so much more. She made me feel so relaxed and comfortable. It only took me a few treatments to feel better! Dr McDermot is great. She really helped me to better understand what is going on with my back and what I need to do to help myself. Her adjustments were much gentler than other chiropractors I have seen. I was able to stay relaxed for the adjustments, in the past I have always tensed up at the crucial moment. The combination of adjustments and therapies relieved a lot of the back pain I was having. My problem is largely congenital and Dr McDermot readily recommended other practitioners that could further help me.
I would recommend Dr McDermot to my friends, many of whom suffer from Lyme disease and have neurological issues. It isn’t easy to find a chiropractic neurologist!

I first saw Katherine to help me with my knee. I wasn’t sure if I had torn something or what to do and didn’t want to go to my primary care Dr. After a few visits I started feeling better and was able to work out again in 3 weeks. She took the time to listen to my concerns and figure what was wrong. I even remember what was wrong but really who cares after your feeling better.
I saw her again when I slept weird one night and had issues with my neck. After one visit I was feeling better.
The office staff is very friendly and professional. The office has lots of equipment and is always busy.

I just met with Dr. McDermont, whose Chiropractic practice is in San Mateo. For being so young, I was impressed with her vast knowledge of the body, her speaking engagements about the neurological and musculoskeletal disorders, and her pleasant demeanor when working with clients.
