Kenneth L Wong, DDS

I have been going to see All three Wongs (it used to be Kenneth, David and their father) for probably about 15 years. Not only do I love their chatty, friendly personalities, but they have always been thorough, gentle and taken amazing care of my teeth. Also I love the swag bag you get every time with a great quality tooth brunch, toothpaste and floss. Oh and they will mail you an old fashioned post card every 6 months to remind you to book your next appointment (if you want). HIGHLY recommend!

Very friendly, caring dentist. Knowledgable. Was worried that I had to switch dentists since I moved neighborhoods, but he’s good. Very personable. He was concerned about my grinding and no other dentist cared that much previously.
They have Saturday appointments but those book up 6 months in advance! Crazy. Staff actually picks up the phone, and they send you papers via email to fill out before you come. First office I’ve been to that actually operates in the 21^st century and uses email.

Best dentist ever. I fly out from NYC to see him now that I have left SF.

Excellent service in dental care!

I have been a patient of Dr. Wong’s for over 20 years. I credit Dr. Wong for being one of the minority of people who look forward to going to their dentist. Dr. Wong does the teeth cleaning himself while carrying on a pleasant conversation (perhaps this is harder for me than him!). I have never had dental insurance, and find his fees very reasonable. I highly recommend Dr. Wong.

My entire family has been going to Dr. Wong for over twenty five years — he is simply the best… I have been to dentists all over the world and i trust him totally. He doesn’t, as some other review says, force unnecessary procedures on you at all.

Going to the dentist was a horrifying experience as a child, but I actually like going to Dr. Wong b/​c it feels so great afterwards, and I don’t feel like I’m being judged for the condition of my teeth. He’s funny and light-​hearted while he does the work, and doesn’t try to force unnecessary procedures on me, like so many others seem to do. I’ve been seeing him twice a year for three years, and have no plans to change this.

Apparently, Dr Wong is great.
However, to get to Dr. Wong, you will first have to get past an aloof receptionist. I asked the receptionist if they accepted Delta Dental. She said yes, as long as it was a PPO. I told her, I wasn’t sure if my policy was a PPO. She asked me with a snotty attitude, «well, are you a patient here?» Obviously not… I said, «no, not yet, I’m just trying to figure out if you will take my insurance.» Obviously put off, she said, «we will take Delta Dental PPO, but not HMO.» She wasn’t willing to look my info up and she was clearly appalled that I didn’t know if my dental insurance PPO or HMO.
Seriously, what kind of idiot doesn’t know that, right? Well, me.
All the receptionist had to do was spend one minute looking my policy up in her database, and I would be Kenneth Wong’s new customer, maybe even client. I live in Russian Hill, walking distance from his office. However, because his receptionist is a snotty gatekeeper, and not willing to go the extra mile (if even that), I will will never go to Dr. Wong’s office for a visit.
Btw I do have PPO coverage. I called another office, they were polite and they looked my policy up for me.

Dr Saeki is in this office on Fridays and Saturdays. She is great. (She’s a researcher the rest of the week)

Have been going to Ken Wong for about 10 years. Lovely Guy. Also Teaches at UOP School of Dentistry. Reasonable rates and only $ 50 for missed appointments!
Only downside is no gas… but that hardly matters for routine dental work, anyway. (He will send you to specialists for root canals, implants, etc., where you can get all the gas you want)!

Dr. Wong does his own cleanings and is very careful and thorough. I had braces for 3 years about 25 years ago and my teeth have moved a bit… some dentists that I have been to in the past try to sell me on braces again or oral surgery for receding gums, but Dr. Wong is upfront and super honest… you don’t walk out of his office (like you do other dentists) feeling like he is trying to sell all sorts of other services.

This is the first time in years I have been to a dentist that I want to return to. I recently moved here from New York, and I haven’t gone to the dentist for over 1.5 years because my dentist in NYC was so rough and vicious that I couldn’t bring myself to make an appointment with her. Ken Wong was not the most gentle dentist I’ve been to (that honor belongs to my all time favorite dentist — Dr. Irene Chang in Orange County), but he’s certainly someone who I will recommend and who I will return to. He himself cleans your teeth, which puts him in a minority of dentists who still do that — most people relegate that task to a hygenist and just inspect your mouth for a few minutes afterwards. This is great because he gets to spend a lot of time with your teeth and may see things that might be missed in a quick inspection. He also uses the old-​school manual pick, not that newfangled automatic instrument. In addition, he’s experienced, funny, personable and honest (even though my insurance company would cover them, he wouldn’t take full mouth panoramic x-​rays because he said they were unnecessary if he could get x-​rays from my previous dentist). It took over 2 months to make an appointment for a cleaning, so I recommend booking well in advance.

I used to have all my teeth. They were very pretty, in fact, after many childhood years of orthodontia. However, I ride bikes. I ride bikes often. I crashed one of my bikes the other day, and I happened to lose teeth 8 and 9. As the oral surgeon said, «You know those are your front teeth, right? You know you’ll have a giant gap, right?» Yeah, right. Anyway.
Kenneth Wong is one of the few people I’ve had in my career as a consumer that truly made me feel comfortable and at peace, even in the face of a multi-​thousand-​dollar (after insurance) bill due to an accident. I cannot recommend him highly enough, for skill or friendliness.
All I ask is that you not visit him in order to make my office visits easier to get. After all, Unilocal is not about finding dentists, right?

I first started seeing Dr. Kenneth Wong when I got my braces in junior high school and many years later, I still look forward to my cleanings with Ken. He is always very friendly and provides great service. He’s seen my entire family for years too. When my mom has a dental emergency (she has very bad teeth – I’m lucky I took after my dad in the tooth department), he always fits her in as soon as he can. I’ve recommended him to several friends and all of them think he’s wonderful too.

I’ve been going to Dr. Ken Wong since I was 4. My entire family goes to him — he’s great! He cares about his patients and spends a lot of time with us. You don’t feel rushed and his entire staff is very friendly. I recently moved to Palo Alto, but will still drive to SF to see Dr. Wong. I hope he never retires!

No matter what I’m getting done here, Dr. Kenneth Wong is an absolute dream! He’s super friendly and a great dentist. I wonder how my teeth ever survived growing up without him! No worries now! I’m proud to show-​off my pearly whites.
For those scaredy-​cats and those just wanting a change, I highly recommend Dr. Wong and his pleasant staff!
