Kevin Chin Photography

My daughter got married just short of 3 years ago and I’m finally getting around to reviewing the day. We were so very lucky to have Kevin there to memorialize every detail of her special day. During the ceremony and reception Kevin and Haley were nowhere to be seen or so we thought. He was everywhere, capturing moment after moment. Jason hated to have his picture taken much less pose for them but Kevin put him at ease and by the end of the evening he was an old pro :) When the proofs arrived we were hard pressed to figure out which photos should be in the album much less which ones to frame and hang. I for one relive that special day over and over and can’t imagine anyone other than Kevin doing such a great job.
Fast forward to 2013… who knew that Kevin and I would have so much in common!!! We’re both avid & rabid Giants fans!!! Since meeting Kevin the Giants have won 2 World Series!!!

Kevin was absolutely amazing during our entire wedding planning process. His work speaks for itself, and everyone that attended the wedding had something sweet to say about the calming and peaceful presence he brought to the event. He said to me one day while we were in the throes of the negotiations, ‘your photos are one of the few lasting memories of the day itself’ and I am so pleased we have his photos to look back on. They are breathtaking and ones we will cherish for the rest of our lives. My ONLY regret is that I did not also include videography to our package. Brides to be– you never know how amazing your speeches will be until they are over. I would give anything to have been able to immortalize those as well.

I had a winery wedding this past July for approx. 200 people. When everything was said and done in July 08, I pondered back at this precious moment of my life and had to say that the best decision I ever made for the wedding was to hire Kevin Chin Photography to be my photographer. Honestly, when it comes down to it, it doesn’t matter how much you spend on your dress, the venue, the food, the flowers, and etc if the photographer can’t capture these images perfectly down. Hence, I knew that Kevin would be the perfect photographer for me when I visited his website and saw his sample portfolio book in person. His work is so great that I had to hire him on the spot. He definitely has a creative eye for capturing life’s most precious moments. I had 500 – 600 pictures to choose from and I am still having a hard time choosing the right pictures for my portfolio box. There were just too many good pictures to choose me. I go back and constantly change my mind.
Overall, if I could give Kevin an extra star, I would since he has been such a pleasured to work with. He is extremely professional and responded to my messages and emails ASAP. He is extremely artistic and produces pictures that are creative work of arts. They are definitely not the cheesy wedding pictures you will regret hanging up 5 or 10 years from now. To this day, I am so glad that I hired Kevin. Thanks for those wonderful memories!!!

Not only is Kevin a gifted photographer with an eye for beautiful composition and the insight to capture fleeting moments of emotion, he is wonderfully professional and such a pleasure to work with. I actually knew from his website that I wanted to work with him for our wedding. Besides the site being very well done and his beautiful photos, I knew that anyone who would take the time to have a page dedicated to «8 things you didn’t know about Kevin» had to be a great person.
John and I used Kevin for both our Engagement photos and for our Wedding day. The Engagement session was great and was a perfect way for John and I to get to know Kevin and his shooting style. We went up to the Botanical Gardens in San Francisco because that is John and my favorite place in the city. I was looking forward to the session because I have a tendency to be a bit of a ham in front of the camera and am used to posing, but John was a bit anxious. Once we met Kevin at the gardens and got to talking about what we wanted out of the shoot Kevin’s demeanor calmed John down right away and made us both feel at ease. Kevin had a beautiful spot picked out and John and I had so much fun with the shoot. The photos turned out absolutely amazing and Kevin was really able to capture that exciting feeling of new love between John and I.
I met with Kevin about 2 more times after that shoot to get prepared for the wedding. I was excited about the fact that he uses film, for I felt film was the perfect way to capture such a momentous day. I also felt it spoke to his true artistry as a photographer. He really has to use his talent and the camera to frame and capture the photo. With lighting, weather and other unpredictable factors, this is a talent that I think in the digital world we tend to take for granted. Our meetings were great and he really helped me feel prepared, organized and excited for the wedding day. Not to mention his adorable dog Chin Chin was a great accomplice in the decision making process.
For the wedding day you hire him and his assistant for the whole day. He is willing to go anywhere and do anything that you need for that entire day. He takes an unlimited amount of photos depending on your needs. Kevin arrived at the hotel after the bridal party got their makeup and hair done around 1pm and stayed until, I’m pretty sure, after 11 that night. Because of the repour we had built from our meetings before hand I was so happy and relieved to see Kevin on the wedding day.
The boudoir photo-​shoot was so fun and made me feel so beautiful. He captured beautiful moments between my mom and I, my bridesmaids and also my dad, the first time he saw me in my wedding dress. The excitement and nervous energy between me, my family and my bridesmaids was palpable, but Kevin was the calm beacon that kept us together. We were ushered outside to do the bridal party photos. John and I decided to see each other before the ceremony to do the photos so that we could enjoy the party. Kevin was great in directing everybody and again making us feel calm and comfortable as he was shooting.
For the ceremony and reception John and I did not have any specific requirements for the type of photos to get. After seeing his portfolio we completely trusted Kevin in capturing what he thought was appropriate. I don’t remember seeing him for the rest of the evening except for a few times during the crazy dance party that ensued in the ballroom. He was snapping away, capturing photos that I would later see to be beautiful, precious, sweet and some times hilarious moments from our friends and family. These were things that only a true professional would be able to do. That night before he left I gave him a great big hug. It was such a pleasure having him there that day and I just knew the photos were going to be amazing.
And, in conclusion, they were. When I met with him at his place to go over the proofs it was like I was reliving my whole wedding day over again. I was delighted by the images that he captured and could not have asked for a better visual diary of our wedding. You can talk for days about a photographer’s technical ability, but it takes a truly special person to do what Kevin did. I thank him so much and am so thankful that he has given us these beautiful images of our amazing day.
