Kindred Nursing and Healthcare – Victorian

Kindred Victorian is part of a Fortune 500 company. Now i know first hand, how they are profiting on the elderly. what ever you do… do not place your loved one here!!! The ASPCA has better facilities and more humane care then this place! I opened the curtains in my mom’s room (they call a tiny room crammed with three people a semi-​private room), and the lining fell apart in my hands. Disgusting!!! The food is yet another nightmare. You would not wish this life on your worst enemy! Heartbreaking. Not one penny has been spent on this place since the 80’s. I’m sure Kindred’s board members are very happy about keeping all the money themselves while they provide sub-​standard care.
My mom was here for three months before their lack of caring for her bedsore sent her to the hospital where we almost lost her from infection! Maybe the head nurse (?) and the wound nurse (??) need a refresher course on bedsores. The patient has to be turned every two hours! They did none of this! She was never turned on her side. I assumed this was happening all the time. Stupid me. Part of me believes this was done on purpose to get rid of us. They did not want us around at all.
When we went to pick up my mom’s belongings (my mom said she would rather die than go back to that place!!!), they dumped all her things in a plastic bag, including an orchid. Who throws an orchid in a plastic bag with clothes and books on top of it? Ignorance!!!
This is how they take care of living things, including people. There are some lovely staff there, but they are so beaten down and they don’t stand up to the incompetance around them!!!
My heart goes out to the elderly who are stuck there. This is beyond shameful… it is criminal how the elderly are treated in this country by these for-​profit companies.
Kindred…you should be ashamed of yourselves.
I could go on and on. Maybe someone will read this before making the same mistake we did.

This place is great. My mom is a current resident. The entire staff is very attentive, caring and professional. My mom has been a resident for a year now. I visit almost every day and I have never seen one incident of anything less than professional and compassionate care. The residents are great too and a joy to visit. While the staff and the excellent care are far and away the most important feature, another plus is the location. On Pine Street, one block off the commercial corridor on Fillmore. So it is easy to take my mom, who is wheelchair bound, out for lunch or window shopping. Having an ill or declining loved one is difficult under any circumstances, but knowing they are receiving the level of care provided by Kindred Victorian is a great consolation.

My friend’s mother stayed here for one year and two weeks and during that difficult time, Kindred Nursing and Healthcare — Victorian provided such comfort and and loving care.
I would especially like to recognize Mindy for her leadership of her wonderful staff and their impeccably high standard of care, delivered with warmth in such a caring environment. My friend had great peace of mind knowing that her mother was in such capable and professional hands.
