Kuk Sool is elegant and powerful, «hard» (hand striking & kicking) and «soft» (throwing & joint locks), and integrates body, mind and spirit. As part of our practice, we develop strength through forms, and learn self-defense techniques, and traditional weapons.

We are a black belt school for adults and kids. Our mission is to develop internal power & mental focus, increase fitness, build self-confidence, and reinforce positive values through physical training and the lifetime practice of martial arts.

History

Established in 2008.

Kuk Sool Won of San Francisco was originally started in the 1974 by Kuk Sa Nim, the grandmaster of Kuk Sool Won, and for many years was also the home of the World Kuk Sool Association. It was taken over in by Master Sung Jin Suh, the eldest son of the grandmaster, when the WKSA was moved to a ranch near Houston, TX. In 2008, Master Suh also moved to the WKSA headquarters in Houston. The school is now run by Masters Leora Goren and Susan Wootan, along with a number of high ranking black belt instructors. We are dedicated to training in the art of Kuk Sool Won, and we would like to pass on our passion and knowledge of this wonderful martial art to you.

Business Owner

Masters (5th Degree Black Belts) Leora G and Susan W are the co-owners and chief instructors at Kuk Sool Won of San Francisco. We are both 5th degree black belts (Master level). We joined Kuk Sool Won in November of 1994, earned our black belts and began teaching in addition to continuing our training. When our master left, we did not want to see our school close so we decided to take it over and keep it going. It is truly a labor of love, as we both have separate careers and families that keep us busy when we are not training or teaching at the dojang.
