Short hair can be sexy, especially if you have Meghan by your side. After a surprise haircut back in London which took off all the hair I’d lovingly grown out for five years, I headed back to SF for a color pick me up, and found Meghan at Ladies & Gents.
I lucked out on getting an appointment but didn’t luck out on the traffic. Late, I’m greeted by Meghan, smiling, stylish and mellow — even though she could have simply wrapped my head in box color and banished me off to the purgatory of Those-Who-Don’t-Understand-101-Traffic-and-Make-Good-People-Wait.
Instead, Meghan’s mix of meticulous eye to detail and mellow, warm manner translated into amazing care in layering different techniques (balayage, foils, and toner) to give my locks some welcome home love. I trusted her completely. What was surprising was this: when we were almost done and drying my hair, now a pretty golden blonde, she suggested going for another toner and look. While I was already happy, I’m so glad she did; the second toner added a unique layer to the color that was unexpected — from golden honey to a delectable silvery ash in minutes that made me feel like a superhero. It was surprising and lovely, and just the right touch.
That’s Meghan. She can triumph over gridlock and whisk you into hair heaven before you know it.

MEGHAN MEGHAN MEGHAN MEGHAN
Wow, is she amazing. Absolutely amazing. She turned my brassy, out of control mess into some silky looking blonde perfection. Meghan used two different shades for the highlights, AND also a toner, AND also she painted on some subtle streaks towards the end while it was covered in foils. Essentially, she is a hair guru. All I did was tell her I want it a little brighter, and she worked magic.
I can not wait to come back to her and try out a haircut next time. I have so much hair that it took a while to do this today, but she painstakingly separated each piece and foiled it to perfection.
To top it all off, she is a sweetheart, and you’ll feel like you’re talking to a new, very cool friend. Highly highly recommend her! I’m somewhat of a hair trollop, flitting from stylist to stylist, but you can bet I’ll be going back to her exclusively from now on!

I got my hair cut and color done my Vincent. And I must say my experience was horrible.
My hair got damaged after coloring. It was not done correctly obviously. Now it is extremely dry and dull.
Second thing was he pulled my hair so hard that my scalp hurt throughout the process and couple days afterward.
I told him that he was hurting my scalp by pulling it so hard. He still did it continuously. Of course, my scalp hurt in the next few days even after I have washed my hair.

My first ever Unilocal review goes to Vince at Ladies and Gents. It was my first time coming in for a haircut and I absolutely loved the way Vince cut my hair. I only wanted to cut a small amount and he transformed my limp and dry hair, making it looks voluminous and beautiful. I’ll be coming back :)

So glad I went here and had Vince work on my dried ends/​mophead! And so glad it’s walking distance from my home! Finally found my go-​to hair salon (only took me 6 yrs!!).

Meghan is a awesome hair stylist. I’ve been seeing her for over 4 years and I’ve always left the salon happy with the results.
I like that she takes the time to understand what I want and then does her magic. It also helps that she is super friendly and easy going.
I would (and have) recommend Meghan with confidence, your hair will be in qualified hands.

Vince does my hair. And has for 4 years. And I cannot explain how amazing if a stylist he is. He has taken me to dark and to blond and everything in between and I always look fierce. Ladies & Gents is {by FAR!} the best salon I’ve found in SF! The décor is unique & vintage, the location is perfect (right in Washington Square Park!) and what other salon will serve you a bourbon on the rocks?
My personal stylist has been Meghan for 3+ years now and I’ve followed her to several different salons — she’s JUST THAT GOOD! She’s thorough, she can make your vision come to life and she’s super easy to talk to (normally I hate making small talk while getting my hair done, but she easily became not only a stylist but also a friend). I’ve been a blondie for most of my adult life and have dabbled in the brunette pool a couple of times, but no one’s been able to actually color my hair the exact darker shade I’ve wanted. I’ve gone back and forth for a couple of years with Meghan about giving the darker side another whirl and she finally talked me into it last September and I couldn’t be happier! I even recommended my then boyfriend/​now fiancé to see her too and now we’re one big happy hair family!

I was Meghan’s FIRST SF client and haven’t gone to anyone else. I’d follow her anywhere (not east bay… jk). She always makes my mop presentable. Very professional and an all around great lady. The shop she works at currently is my favorite so far. Her coworkers are equally as awesome and the complimentary bourbon corner always gets me to my appointments early. Thanks MegHan!

Meghan is fantastic. I’ve been going to her for a couple of years now and good to see her at Ladies & Gents, located in one of the best neighborhoods in the city, right in front of Washington Square park. I always come to Meghan when I need a cut, either to freshen up or before an event.
For a men’s cut, she begins with shampoo and conditioning then proceeds to deliver on the look you want. She’ll see if you have any feedback on her work as she cuts your hair to make sure it’s what you want and she delivers. She’s also great to chat with while she works her magic.
She is great at what she does and works with you to give you the type of look you desire. I highly recommend to other guys out there looking for a cut to contact Meghan, you’ll be satisfied with the look she leaves you with.

Jenny is the best! Ladies and Gents is oozing with charm and talented staff.
I’ve been going to her for years, from salon to salon, because she’s the best hair stylist I’ve had. She’s great at listening to what you’re looking for and improving it. Amazing woman with an amazing business. Couldn’t be happier to have found her.

Vince (Vincent) Garcia is bat shit fabulous! He is like a unicorn that shits rainbows, and rainbows! Not only is he a great stylist, but a really great educator!
I’ve learned so much from him in 45 minutes about styling hair more than anyone! He is kind, and a sweet human being.

Meghan is the bees knees!
I never had one hairstylist that I would go to in my life before Meghan. Now I won’t let anyone else do my hair, not even a trim. She really listens to what you want and then delivers. As a dark brunette, I had always wanted to try and go blond but never found someone I really trusted. Meghan has helped me go from brunette to red to blond and now more ombré. She is truly an artist. Not to mention that the products she uses are much healthier than many out there that fry your hair. She is professional, easy to talk to and well priced. She always delivers!

Vincent Garcia is both professional and friendly. He makes magic on your hair. I am so lucky to find him. Been with him for yearzzzzz now and I am very picky with real sucky unruly hair. Just tell him what u want and he will do way better than u had even imagined yourself to be :)

Vince is the best! I’ve been going to him for 4 years now and couldn’t be happier with how fabulous he ALWAYS makes me look. I love that I can go in and trust him to do his thing and come out with a color and style that are expertly executed as well as fun.
Seriously, my platinum is always perfect with perfect toning and accents of fun colors (purple, turquoise, you name it!). He is the queen of color and balayage.
He’s a magician with scissors… he helped me grow my hair out from an asymmetrical cut with buzzed undercut sides to a perfect bob without ever having an awkward phase. Seriously, every step was a haircut I wanted to rock. That’s talent!
He’s also just f-​ing awesome as a person — nobody I’d rather chat with while getting my hair done:)
I love the fact that I don’t go a day without getting a compliment on my hair — usually from complete strangers. I’ve recommended him as a stylist more times than I can count!

I have been going to Jenny Moya for 5 years. In that time she’s dyed my hair, black, blonde, brown, and red. It’s been pixie short, stacked, bobbed, and long and flowy. No matter what I want she can do it and make sure that it looks stylish and fits my face.
Not only that, she makes great conversation and remembers details about my life, which is incredible considering how many clients she must have!
Ladies and Gents is a wonderful salon– I always feel comfortable and welcome there. If you drive, be sure to get there a little early since you might have issues finding street parking.

This is my second review for Ladies & Gents. I’ve been a happy client of Jennie’s for a few years now and have been playing with the idea of going lighter for about a year. It took me 6 months though to get up the courage to let Jennie add a few balyaged highlights. They were great and with summer approaching now, I was ready to go all out.
Being that this was kind of spur of the moment for me, Jennie was booked up until September. I was able to snag an appointment with Vince though and it turned out fantastic! Definitely recommend!

Vince did my blowout tonight and it was so good! I love it and will totally come back. Can’t wait to get a Keratin treatment!

Two words… Jenny Moya! She is amazing. She did such a great job on my hair. I have the typical asian hair that can easily come out orange if not left in the right hands. I was desperately wanting to get my hair balayaged with an ash blonde look. She added in highlights and lowlights and totally nailed the color I wanted.

Jennie!!! You did it again, I love my color and cut, and everyone stops me to say how much they love it. Everyone thinks my color is natural. One time someone said to me, «I think we are the only natural blondes here» –sucker.
For everyone else, the reviews are true. I’ve been getting my hair colored for the last 15 years-​really high end and lower end and jennie is the best. She told me «ok this is going to be a process» when I first came to her. She didn’t want to bleach my hair to a crisp, so we started by bringing it back to healthy, so we could start a new base. Please note, it still looked awesome. It was sort of the ombré that everyone wants, but what she did was bring some low lights down, rather than do fewer highlights at the top.
Now it’s 3x later, and you be the judge. :)
Plus she cracks me up and has whiskey and wifi-​everything you need.
