Laurel Properties has been a great management company to work with. I’ve lived in my current apartment in San Francisco for almost 2 years now and they have been extremely responsive to the very few issues (maybe 2) that we have had since moving in. The application and approval process was thorough yet quick and I couldn’t be happier in my apartment, thank you Jessica!

Julie and Laurel Properties. I overall had a bad experience; poor customer service and lack of professionalism. Multiple points of contact introduced on their end made things more cumbersome. Long story short, they wanted to keep me on ice, while they tried to rent out to someone else first. Which is fair enough, but instead of being upfront. Their way of doing that was to act shady, purposely withhold information, make promises that they did not follow through on, and actively ignore calls (while I could hear them talking to the receptionist in the background lol). In the end, I felt cheated and it bordered on fraud, though I won’t go into detail on that as a sign of respect. My experience may be limited, but if they treated me this way, I would be wary of this company.

Laurel properties is the best property manager on the planet. We have lived in our apartment for 4 years and they have gone above and beyond to resolve any issues (not that we have had many). A+, 10 stars, two thumbs up.

Laurel Properties and Julie have been fantastic to deal with. They are upfront with costs and will work with you to get your deposit back from the owners if there are any problems. They have a quick response time, and they have been able to help out with any apartment issues by directing you to the right person. Julie has been particularly useful as she is available by her cell phone. Great company to work with, and if you are lucky to get a great deal on one of their properties, then you will not regret it.

Jessica Phad at Laurel Properties — and in fact the entire Laurel Properties team — are fantastic landlords and, more importantly, really kind human beings. They care about their tenants, and keep up a great building.
I’ve had only minor issues (typical of any building) and they’ve jumped on repairs within 24 hours each time.
If it’s possible to stick with a single property manager as we move apartments in the future, you can bet that I’ll be doing so with Laurel Properties.

Terrible property management. Extremely unhelpful. DO NOT USE! Our landlord stopped using the company (which we were never notified about) and after a housing issue which we needed resolved immediately, we contacted what we had thought was still our property management company to try and have this issue resolved. They REFUSED to give us our landlord’s phone number after multiple requests, even rudely hanging up on my girlfriend saying,“this isn’t our problem”. Never have I dealt with such rudeness and unprofessionalism in my life, and I hope to never have to again.

Laurel Properties is the agent selling the place I am renting, and sadly they have handled it poorly. They have disregarded our basic rights as tenants. They hooked up a sign to our front porch without our permission. I called them to talk about it to see if we can find a better place, but never got a call back. I ended up removing the sign and put it aside. I got home after work to see that they had drilled it underneath our window (again without permission). That just shows the level of professionalism this company has.

Best property managers I’ve ever had. In any city– hands down.
I’ve lived in my apartment for about 7 years, and Laurel Properties took over from the old management (which wasn’t terrible, but pretty unorganized & slow to respond) a few years ago. They have definitely changed the atmosphere in the building in a positive way– made improvements swiftly & efficiently. If you contact them with an issue, they respond right away & actually follow up with you to make sure things are OK. I used to go in to the office & pay rent directly, so I got to know the folks pretty well. They are such nice people, & really want everyone (landlords, tenants, & everyone involved in the process) to be happy with their home. Its no secret SF has a brutal housing market, & instead of trying to take advantage of that, I really believe that they communicate honestly– an ethical trait that is rarely seen in San Francisco property managers. Instead of being afraid to contact my landlord for a a repair, I feel comfortable calling Laurel Properties because I know I won’t have to justify «why» I need a plumber or «who’s at fault» for a malfunctioning garage door.
I once received a phone call from Julie, telling me that they had received an envelope from me (my monthly rent) that was open– the check was missing. At this point, it was already past due, but instead of calling to tell me I owed a late fee, Julie was just concerned about my check being stolen. Very cool.

I was excited to see about a prospective apartment managed by Laurel Properties and had been in great email correspondence with Jessica. Jessica had told me that I would be meeting Julie the day of the showing and she gave me her phone number just in case. My boyfriend and I arrived at the unit right on time and waited outside for Julie to arrive while it was raining. After about ten minutes, another person showed up to see the apartment and when they arrived we each tried calling and texting Julie and then eventually after a half hour emailed Jessica. No response from any one. We ended up waiting for an hour and with no response left. Julie texted about 45 minutes after that and said she was in an auto accident and Jessica would reschedule. It was horrible she was in an accident, but if she was able to text that she could have taken 30 seconds to excuse herself from the scene and make a quick text or phone call at the time she was supposed to be there. I did not hear back until a couple of days later from Jessica to see the apartment with no apology or offer to work with my schedule to see the place. It was disheartening and rude and I would not recommend looking for a place through Laurel Property unless you simply just want to be disregarded and left out in the rain.

Julie and Laurel Properties have been the most straightforward, honest, and motherly property managers we’ve EVER ever dealt with.
When our apartment was damaged in a fire last year, we were fortunate enough to find Julie at the other end of a Craigslist apartment offer. She was sympathetic to our uncertain situation (we didn’t know if we needed a temporary or more long-​term home, we also had two cats… turns out, she’s an animal lover, and has pets in the office!), and she was beyond accommodating.
We’ve since moved to another property, but whenever we begin another apartment search, Laurel Properties will ALWAYS be our number one go-​to.

I was dealing with Laurel properties regarding showing of a rental. Unprofessional and rude does not even begin to describe the agent’s behavior during our interactions. They need to understand this is a business.

I have totally loved having Laurel Properties as my rental managers. They are a family run business and it shows. They are trust worthy (a term not to be taken lightly) prompt, communicative and a pleasure to deal with when the usual things go wrong in your apartment. They have helped my roommates and I every step of the way. We had just move to SF and didn’t have the first clue as to how to find an apartment here. I found one of their listings on Craigslist and from that point on it was easy.
We ended up having some pretty severe issues with our neighbors. Laurel Properties has been super supportive in helping all parties involved resolve the issue.
I can’t say enough about how great this little family run company is.

I’ve lived in the same building for 5 years. The first four, we were managed by Hawthorne-​Stone, who was pretty awful. Then, we were transferred to Laurel Properties, and things got a whole lot better.
Julie Aviles (my contact at Laurel Properties) was horrified by the fact that Hawthorne-​Stone had refused to repair broken blinds because it was «not a health or safety risk,» and got the job done immediately. She also immediately got compost bins installed in our apartment (another thing I’d been requesting for ages), and followed up with me to make sure it had gotten done.
Unlike other landlords, who seem to cultivate an adversarial relationship with their tenants, Laurel (and Julie in particular) is alway very friendly and courteous. Adding my new roommate to the lease? No problem. Notifying her of my subletter during my 3-​month study abroad? No drama. Getting the graffiti on the building taken care of? Easy. My old landlord would jack the rent up by the maximum legal amount every year, but Laurel only increased it $ 1 this year.
The only reason I’m not giving them 5 stars is that it sometimes takes a long time for non-​essential repairs to get done. However, I think this is because their maintenance guy is flaky (or maybe doesn’t get the messages?), rather than willful negligence on Laurel Properties’ part. They’re the best landlord I’ve had, and I would happily rent from them again.
