Horrible doctor. Spent a minute diagnosing me without bothering to take any tests or samples. When I asked for testing or suggested otherwise. He ignored me and left the room.
Dont waste your time and money on this doctor.

I have to concur with the negative reviews posted by others who had bad experiences with Dr. Kaminsky. I went in several years ago for a skin condition which I was explaining to the doctor, and he cut me off to remove a skin tag near my eye because he said it was distracting him. He did not even ask me or explain to me what it was before doing it. Ever since then I’ve had a scar there. After that I found another Dermatologist to see that worked in his office and shortly after started her own practice, but now she no longer accepts Brown and Toland Medical Group. I was searching for a replacement Dermatologist when I came upon this review and so I had to contribute my experience for others. Unfortunately, there are not too many Dermatologist who received good reviews with Brown and Toland Medical Group.

Let’s get this straight. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Kaminsky’s associate, Dr Hsaio, for 10:00 am, May 13. I relied on their representation that they are «in network» for Anthem Blue Cross. I carry Anthem Blue Cross. I took the morning off from work, and I spent an hour getting to the office on Sacramento Street (on my bicycle). I arrived promptly at 9:50 am only to be informed by the receptionist that they no longer accept Anthem Blue Cross. She said «we’ve been meaning to fix that.» I was not allowed to see the doctor. To add insult to injury, I later got a call from the office manager wondering why I «missed» my appointment.
If the competency of an office staff reveals the level of care and concern expressed by the physicians, then this place fails across the board. I have never been turned away from a doctor. I could have paid the guy with cash out of my pocket. To be treated like a deadbeat just because I choose to carry a high deductible is pretty insulting.
Bottom line. If you’ve got Anthem Blue Cross and a high deductible, DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME

If you want to be treated like an animal, go see this guy. I had an allergic skin reaction over this Memorial Day weekend which landed me in the ER twice. The ER said to follow up with my dermatologist, and so I sent a message to Dr. Kaminsky, who was on call. I had seen his physician’s assistant, Nikki, in the office twice, and she was lovely. When I went to pick up the prescription Dr. Kaminsky had called in, the pharmacist said the drug he called in was in no way used to treat a skin allergy, not even off-​label, and was not chemically similar to drugs used in this way. I texted Dr. Kaminsky to verify that he called in the right prescription, he responded with two words, «take it». I then texted him to ask if the drug he called in had an off label use to treat skin allergies, because the pharmacist said that it does not resemble anything used to treat skin allergies, and that it doesn’t even have off label use for my issue. Dr. Kaminsky texted back «then tell your pharmacist to go to medical school. take it.»

The front desk was friendly and efficient and when she said the dr would see me in a moment, she was being truthful. I was seen by Dr. Kaminsky at my appointment time and he wasted no time getting to my skin issues. I had a spot on my face that seemed unusual and he gave it a careful look and diagnosed a pre-​cancer and froze it off and told me what to expect in terms of the healing process. I also needed a new prescription for eczema condition I had since childhood and he looked at my arm and saw that the old treatment was thinning my skin and he prescribed a different ointment which would treat the condition and not negatively effect the skin.
I have found my new dermatologist in SF.

Nikki, the PA, is excellent! So friendly, helpful and takes her time. She told me to call her anytime with problems. Love her!

My experience with Dr. Kaminsky was extremely positive. He listened to everything that was bothering me and very kind too. Dr. Kaminsky was gentle and told me he would call me tomorrow for results. He called me and explained carefully what I needed to do. Dr. Kaminsky is one great Doctor!

I went to this doctor one time.. . and I will never go back to him! the office staff is great and there is a parking lot but this doctor didn’t even bother to introduce himself to me. he didn’t take any time to speak to me and gave me an injection in my face before I even could agree to it and I had to call the office the next day to find out what it was. he gave me an Rx that made my skin even worse i think because he really didn’t take the time to look at what was going on. do not go to this doc!
