We started with a small cabinet in a toilet room — we knew we needed a custom build for a small non-​standard space. We found Len on Unilocal.In the process of designing the small toilet cabinet, we discussed the need for bookcases and cabinets in our newly renovated living room. We thought the wall on which we were going to put them was fairly basic and weren’t sure that we needed to have custom cases or store-​bought. Len had some great ideas and as we discussed what to do, we realized there was no way, given our old house, unlevel floor, crown molding, etc., that a store-​bought Ikea-​type bookcase would fit — either literally or figuratively. Len had some great suggestions and we decided to have him build a wall of bookcases after the little toilet room cabinet. Len finished the small toilet room cabinet quickly (in about 10 days) — his work was precise and he knew exactly what the measurements needed to be in order to fit around the door frame. The bookcases took longer but he still finished quickly. We conferred throughout the process so that all the details were just right. Len is a perfectionist and we soon realized how valuable it is to work with someone who has high standards and a lot of experience. The bookcases completely changed our living room and we now can’t imagine what it would be like without them. The added bonus about working with Len is that he is a warm, kind person you wouldn’t mind just sitting down and sharing a coffee with.
Note: Len makes the cabinets/​bookcases but you’ll need to have someone else stain or paint them. Our contractor was still in the area after our renovation so he painted ours.

My partner and I recently bought a home and wanted a custom entertainment center and Len was very helpful in reviewing our initial concept, suggested space-​saving changes, and gave us general good-​design ideas. He made a built-​in-​wall unit to accommodate our new wide-​screen TV and pull-​out shelves for our DVD collection.
