Have completed an eye exam here after many years of not being back. Had had Kaiser and that was a horrible place to get contact lenses dispensed from; the optometry department doctors are great and professional-​just the contact lens dispensing tech. is a jerk. Also the lenses I got through Kaiser were both (two different brands tried) ill-​fitting and so thin that one lens just tore with no effort suddenly. Was a thorough waste of money and a great deal of aggravation dealing with an unprofessional person.
However, my current visit to LensCrafters was not 100% perfect hence the deduction of a star. The assistant who administered my tests and checked me in and out was really nice and friendly. Only sad thing was that the eye pressure test was done on each of my eyes six to seven times. Now I hate having this test done just one time per eye as it’s like getting a shock to one’s system. So having it done 6 – 7 times on each eye was extremely uncomfortable.
Doctor was fine especially since she was able to prescribe my lenses accurately and gave me a great pair of extremely comfortable lenses to try out.

Horrible service!!! I walked in looking for contacts and there was only one lady working. She doesn’t even acknowledge that I’m there, even though I’m standing right in front of her. I understand that she’s with a customer, but when she looks up at me, she says, «what do you need». She doesn’t ask me, «how can I help you, or do you have a question I can answer for you»! Horrible!!! What kind of people do they employ here??? She couldn’t even tell me the price on a box of contacts! Don’t come here ever!!!

Unfortunately, I have not been able to get a new pair of glasses in a number of years. I needed glasses quickly and went here.
I saw their doctor, and waited a few hours, and got the glasses.
Bad move. The doctor was flippant and didn’t take any care to make sure the stuff he was flipping around in front of my eyes worked.
They told me that the fuzz would go away after my eyes settled down from the exam.
While driving a car on a freeway in another state a few days later, I noticed that large highway signs never unfuzzed. And I have to squint all the time, but I still can’t see right. It’s fuzzy and I can’t focus well now. It wasn’t like that with the old glasses.
I got back and had a lot of work to get done. I contacted them. They told me to get in there by a certain date. I couldn’t.
They redid the prescription, and I STILL can’t see right out of them. They have given back my fee for the eye doctor (part of what they said they would send) and I have to get a new prescription for them to try. Not sure I want them to — now the screw fell out of the right temple while just standing in Starbucks, two months later.
DON’T EVER GO HERE — unless you like throwing money away. Terrible doctor.
He kept flipping but just a few choices and what he gave me was the best of the few he did. Nothing like my previous private doctors. NEVER GO HERE.

The ONLY people you should deal with here are Arlene in sales (studying to be an Optician) and Norm in the lab. Friendly, conscientious and will correct anything at no additional charge. I had a hassle with a pair of eye-​glasses and they fixed them twice then gave me ½ off another pair. These two associates couldn’t be any nicer and more professional. Located on 2^nd floor in the back (not listed in the directory.)
After an awful experience at City Optix these people were a dream in comparison.
All your info is kept on file at any store location. Just make sure you ask to get your original lenses back just in case.

I’ve always gone to private optometrists and since moving from San Jose to across the street from Stonestown; I decided to give Lenscrafters a try so that I could save myself from driving down to my old optometrist.
I came in a few minutes before my 3PM scheduled appointment. I check in at the front and the girl asks me, «Have you been here before?» Which I thought was an odd question because I was just there last week. I’m pretty sure they can see my records and know that I’m here for a follow up appointment to check on a red eye. Better customer service should have been: «I see that your eye is a lot better. I’ll let the doctor know. Meanwhile, have a seat and we’ll call you when she is ready.» I excuse this lack of sensitivity because it is a chain location of Lenscrafters after all.
But, the terrible customer service doesn’t end there. I take a seat and there is one woman waiting, on her phone, clearly trying to ease her boredom. In walks Dr. Kao, at 3PM and I wonder how long I was going to have to wait. Meanwhile, one more person checks in, immediately goes through the pre-​checkup but he still ended up in the waiting area with me.
I had no qualms in waiting. I understand that appointments do run late. I do have a problem with the lack of customer service in acknowledging that things are running late. I saw Dr. Kao a couple of times running in and out of the exam room. No acknowledgement. The front girls at the check-​in counter were either gossiping about «who ate the pizza» or they just simply disappeared. They were probably running DNA tests in the back to solve the mystery of «who ate the pizza.»
I realized in my time of waiting that I didn’t really want to give my business to a company that doesn’t value their customers. During my wait, a couple of people came to the front with issues about their glasses or prescriptions. One guy came in asking if they could fix his glasses. The girl couldn’t fix it but suggested he try soldering them. When he asked, «What is solder?» The girl had no clue… and said exactly that. He walked away, probably thinking to himself «WHY DID I WASTE MY TIME?»
Which is exactly my thought process on why I peace’d out of my scheduled appointment and called a private practice on Taraval.
They did, however, call me back to apologize and refund me half of my fee. Arlene stated that Dr. Kao’s 2:40 appointment took longer than expected. SO… YOU MEAN TO TELL ME, THAT DR. KAO WALKED IN AT 3PM FOR HER 2:40PM APPOINTMENT?
No wonder why it ran longer than expected.
Never again.

bad service. told me a week to get my replcement glasses and im now going into week three, still waiting. if paid nearly 500 bucks for my glasses, i expect them to be replaced very promptly not whenever they feel like it. i call almost everyday and they tell me the same thing, «bunch of boxes came in and we still need to go through them, we will call you leter tonight», never have gotten a call from them. allthewhile putting up with my migraines i so desperately need my glasses for. whenever this gets settled, i will take my hard-​earned money elsewhere.

In short: Lots of frames collection. Comparatively less expensive. Friendly employees.
For prescription sunglasses, order any brand’s frame online and bring them to store and they fit the lens to it. They repair your old glasses for free (Last time I had to fix the screw in my Glasses bcz it fell off and they fixed it for free and I believe one of the staffs was telling me that the repairs are mostly free). I have been to target opticals (Daly City) but they don’t have variety and I found it’s expensive over there. Also while they take the measurement for the frame size or other details for the glasses, they just give you a dummy frame to wear and measure everything manually (old school), which is why the glasses I got from there came out to be little bigger. But in LensCrafters, they have sophisticated measuring devices for all that matters for the glasses. I didn’t go for eye test at this location but I guess they will definitely have sophisticated devices for that :)
Also, fast delivery (I ordered a frame which was not in the store and got it on 3^rd day) again faster than Target Optical.
Next time Target won’t let me enter their store: p
Overall am satisfied with this branch of LensCrafters store at Stonestown Galleria.

Staff was reasonably nice, but failed to communicate to the eye exam doctor that I was driving myself home and therefore could not have my pupils dilated (I was very clear about this when checking in). I let them put drops in my eyes before asking why I was getting them and realizing that they had not communicated my request to the doctor. They otherwise seemed to have the usual machinery and the doctor seemed relatively knowledgable. However, I am annoyed that I can’t do more work today or actually drive myself home because they ignored my request. Seems unprofessional. Would try another doctor next time.
Update: the «doctor» told me I could drive home if I had sunglasses. As night fell, I saw nothing but huge halos and couldn’t tell where I was. Trying to drive slowly, someone hit my car from behind. Pretty sure I have a case for reckless endangerment against lens crafters.

I am back to liking Lens Crafters! Two years ago, I purchased a pair of glasses from this very store and the after-​sale care was negligent: the staff quickly gave up on trying to adjust my glasses properly and when one of the lenses popped out, nobody seemed to care to fix it either.
Today, I was surprised by a warm & genuine welcome from Arlene. Elaine, Retail Manager, was patient and helpful as I picked new frames (not pushy or looking for her self-​interest). Both were very considerate and when I attempted to get my 2 year-​old pair of glasses fixed, Elaine offered a solution beyond what I hoped for (and I wasn’t asking for special treatment). The staff today must be very different from 2 years ago, Arlene and Elaine were professional and very nice to deal with. I am perfectly satisfied with the products and service I received!

Great selection of frames at great prices BUT they get you when it comes to the lenses! They charge 3 times as much as the mom and pop store on my corner! End result is that you end up paying about twice at LensCrafters!

Five star for the professional OP and eye exam, she’s really nice to customer though. Another thumbs up for the employee called Arlene who help us through the whole process, amazing customer service.
However, the only reason why I give a three stars is because of the sale rep Victoria (the old lady who wear glasses as I remember). Since I end up not getting the lenses here, she started to talk shit at my back. Come on, you ruined everything good that in this store with your shitty attitude. I guess that’s the reason why they are having sale to attract customer. Overall, I do recommend you to come here for eye exam and buying glasses. But, get rid of that old women though.

One star for the doctor who was very sweet and seams to know her stuff. As for the rest of the experience, I’d rather have a root canal then ever go back here. They charged me $ 340 for lenses, without asking me any questions about the type of lenses I wanted. Then after telling me they’d be ready in an hour and a half, I came back and they said to return in 20 minutes. When I came back again, you guessed it, another 40 minutes. I purchased the glasses at 4:30, it’s now 7:00pm and I’m leaving empty handed after being told they «should» be ready after noon tomorrow.

Sorry just to be up front I’m not a 5 star kind of guy.
There really was nothing wrong with my visit to LensCrafters. I did get there when it was slow. I don’t think there was anybody else there when I got there. Maybe just after 5:00 pm on a Wednesday.
I went to see if they could replace the lens on some glasses I got back in March of 2014. The place I got them from is 132 miles away and I already made 5 trips there to get glasses that worked and did not want to spend $ 50.00 in transportation cost plus the 5 hours in travel time to let that place try to get them right again.
After telling the people «Amanda» at lenscrafters my story she said that they could make me new lens and if for any reason they didn’t not work the way I wanted them to I could get them replace or a full refund. This sounded like a win win to me. I didn’t have anything to lose.
She took all the measurements and we talked about some small adjustments to where the setting should be because I was getting progressive lens. (these seem to be a very tricky thing for my vision).
I was told that they should be done by 8:30 pm so off to dinner I went. I got a call just before 8:30 that they were done so back to lensCrafters I went.
I put on the glasses and was sorry to say it was not an OH GREAT I CAN SEE MOMENT. It was a well this is pretty much the same as before. My right eye feels very blurry. Holding the paper with the small writing I said you know the left side looks very clear and sharp but the right half of the paper is blurry.
She said well you just need time to adjust to the new prescription. (oh I’ve heard this since March but I thought okay I’ll give it a try). I told her I would give it a week. Bad thing was when I got to work Thursday and sat in front of my computer there was only about one inch that if I turned my head very far to the right that I could see clearly. The whole computer screen was blurry (this is not a wide screen it is a flat screen but the same size as an old 14 inch CRT monitor). I could not wait a week to try to let my eyes adjust I could barely get through 2 hours at work.
So back to LensCrafters to see just how this 100% refund if I was not happy would work.
It worked great. I walked in said «I’m so sorry Amanda but these are really not going to work out.» She said oh I’m sorry too and took my glasses with the and the old lens and put those back in my glasses and gave me a full refund.
I told her I felt my eyes at this point don’t know what to tell my brain and that in about 6 months I would get a new eye examination and then new glasses.
At the other store I had spend $ 867.00 and that did not include the examination so Spending another $ 800.00 Plus is just not in the cards right now.
So in Short they did give me a refund as they said they would. I do feel bad and wish that things had turned out where I got the new lens and put on the glasses and bingo I can see clearly but that was not the case.

I felt the staff was very friendly and helpful. The doctor sort of sighed when I asked her for a prescription for colored contacts, I mean I’m used to rude Asian demeanor but I decided to give 5 stars any ways because I am nice. The lady seemed like she really wanted to help me. But, what topped it off is the really nice Asian guy who fitted my lenses, he was super nice and caring about fitting my lenses. Just next time doc, give less attitude but I would give 4 stars to the quality of the eye exam.

No complaints. Fantastic eye exam (the O.D. was one of the most intelligent I’ve encountered to date: she knew her stuff and made me feel confident in her abilities) and painless frames+ lenses purchase. The sales associate was a doll *even* after I changed my mind about the insurance and made her take it off the total. I was considering getting sunglasses as well and with such great service, I’ll be back for certain.

So surprised about all the negative reviews! I’ve gotten glasses and exam from here a couple times, I find the staff extremely friendly and helpful, The Dr. professional and really knowledgeable about my eye condition, I felt I was in good hands with her. I would not hesitate to recommend this LensCrafters to anyone I know.

Came here for an eye exam last Tuesday. Made an appointment ahead of time, appointment was at 2:40. I arrived on time, however, did not get in until at least 3. But wait, that’t not all…
I was taken back for a few tests, not by the doctor herself, but by someone else that worked there. In my opinion, she was not very professional, nor clear in what she wanted me to do, and what she was testing my eyes for.
After a series of tests, I was sent back into the waiting area and told that the doctor would be «back» soon. Not sure what this meant, I sat around waiting for her to return from wherever it was that she ventured off to.
About 10 minutes later I finally get in with the actual doctor. She really wanted to talk. Very nice gal though. No problems here. She puts drops in the dilate my eyes, and tells me to wait 10 minutes until they are fully dilated.
I wish it was only 10 minutes.
Two other patients were taken care of by the time I finally went back there. I waited patiently for AT LEAST 20 minutes.
The doctor must have known the male that she was seeing before it was my turn again, because they were chit-​chatting like it was nobody’s business. At this point, there were 4 other patients waiting to be seen, not including myself. I felt sincerely bad for them, because I knew they would be waiting there for a long, long while.
So my 2:40 appointment, was stretched out to be a dreadful 2-​hour long appointment.

Unlike Thomas P. I loooove giving negative reviews, yet I’ve been planing to up the number of positive reviews. And then… Lenscrafters happened.
I don’t have the energy to do a full blown take down, but the gist is this:
If you order contact lenses, let’s say soft low prescription lenses, and you get home and open the box and see that they are hard contact lenses, the colored kind you might wear on Halloween, you cannot return them because you opened the box.
NOT, you opened the container of the lenses themselves, which, of course they can’t reuse them then, but you opened the BOX and could immediately see just by the lens packaging that they were absurdly not right, you are out (insert dollars you paid).
So, I won’t pick on this location too much, but really, I seriously don’t get how they could not get what I wanted right.
No, this is just idiocy on the part of LC as a company.
You know how you should NEVER, EVER go to Pep Boys for anything to do with your car (EVER!) and just find a local repair shop? Same thing. Go find a local private practitioner unless you just can’t get an appointment in time or the cost is vastly different.
But hey, I’ve got an extra box of useless contact lenses if anybody is interested!
