Okay, its been a few years since I’ve been there. And I’ve been holding off on writing this review because I wanted to make sure before I open my mouth on what they told me. I got 4 new tires at Leo’s, and it was alright. Service wasn’t fast, but it was decent. And yes, these tires lasted me for several years now, which I am impressed by. BUT, here’s the kicker. You know, you hear that some mechanics may want to mess with you, because they think you’re a woman and you don’t know anything about cars. Well, the dude told me my rear drum brakes were shot, and needed to replaced soon. I politely accepted his feedback, paid for my tires and then left. Now, my dad is a major car freak. He taught me a lot about cars. My car only had 45k miles on it then. I know for a fact that drum brakes can last up to 100k miles. So for him to make that statement, I was completely shocked. And look, its been a few years now. My car is now at 78k miles after a few years. I’ve changed my front brakes twice at my favorite HONEST mechanic in the TL since, and he has never ever told me that my drum brakes needed replacement. So Leo tire dude, you lied to me and you better learn that just because you have women clients, don’t mean we’re stupid. So maybe educate your employees to not be con artists.. . thank you very much.

I have been a long time customer of Leo’s and spent a great deal of money over the years at their shop in the Dogpatch. My coworkers have also spent a great deal of money at Leo’s as they are close to our office. Today, however, I limped into their shop with a nearly flat tire with a nail in it and asked if they could plug it… a 10 minute job. They were super rude to me and said NO… they could do it if I left it overnight. I reminded them that I was a long time customer and had spent a lot of cash in their shop and they rudely responded «thanks for the business» but they would not plug my tire. I asked if they could recommend another place and they said NO and that no one would plug a tire on the fly anyway. I drove away on my nearly flat tire and looked for another shop only to get a complete flat and had to change the tire. I went to another shop and they plugged the tire on the spot with no problem. I will never give my business to these rude people that don’t even care that they are losing a long time customer because they didn’t want to take 10 minutes to plug a tire for someone that has been coming to their shop for years. Unbelievable.

I got new tires here a couple of years ago. They had the best prices and service was fast. Last Friday, I had to take my car in for a flat tire to be fixed. They were really busy, but they repaired my tire in less than 20 mins, and didn’t even charge me. How nice is that! Thank you Leo’s!

Accommodating, polite, and good prices for tires. It’s convenient to where I live, so I have turned to them for new tires more than once. You can typically drop off your car there in the morning before they are officially open — someone is there early usually. And you can pick up after hours in the adjacent parking lot. Very convenient.

Came in here this morning and had a huge nail in my tire and it was loosing air fast. The nail was on the side of the sidewall so it was unfixable. They took me in with no appointment and had me back on the road after 30 minutes with a new tire.

Simple service, but no reason not to give five stars.
Very friendly on the phone and in person. They went straight to work on my flat tire. I walked to my apartment only two blocks away and ten minutes later they called me to tell me my car was done! Fast! It was just a screw in the tire, so no big deal. Leo’s charged me $ 30 for the repair, which seems perfectly reasonable to me. Thanks guys!

I would like to start off by saying there are still honest mechanics in this world! I took my 96 Jeep Cherokee to Leo’s auto and tire with the idea that my wheels needed to be aligned because of some strange wear on my driver side front tire. on the phone, I was quoted $ 95 for the alignment, or $ 50 if A repair needed to be made. The secretary was very polite, took my information, and said we would call you as soon as the car was ready. however, shortly after that a gentleman named Jim came up to me and asked what was the problem. after a brief description, and after showing him the unusual wear on my front tire, Jim simply said that it was nothing that they could fix, and that I should just take it to a regular mechanic shop that was capable of making the repair needed.
I have a very limited budget, and cannot afford to be giving out $ 50 for someone to tell me that they can’t fix my car, but Leo’s auto and tire save me the trouble of doing just that, by simply being honest with me!
I would highly recommend this place to anyone! thank you Jim, you’re a real gentleman!

The guys at that shop were unbelievable fast and professional. I had a flat tire and needed to bring my kids with me to get it fixed, they said about an hour for the service but it was even quicker! They even recommended a couple of local places to eat while we waited. A positive experience from an inconvenient situation. Thank you!

I wouldn’t go to this place again, though it’s very close to me. The other day I got my battery replaced at this place and before that I was quoted higher than the other store nearby. I decided to bring my car to another place but that guy forgot his name told me they’d need to charge me $ 35 if I don’t replace battery at his place. I was not told about this charge before I left my car there, but okay I’ll just pay whatever they decided to charge me and stop spending more time going around.
The two technicians were quite nice TRYING to fix the the driver side window because it rolls slow. When I picked up my car, I noticed that the handle on the door inside was broken and those guys both said it was broken before and I was sure it was not. Ok I’ll let it go since they were nice to fix the window. My car was old anyway so I didn’t care that handle that much.
After I got home I realized that I was not able to lock the door and my car key got stuck on the door. I drove the car back and they were nice again to fix it. It was almost 5pm at the time and they were about to close. Not long after they started fixing the main guy who charges money turned off the light in the shop ignoring my request to turn back on. How could the guys fix my car without light.
They fixed eventually but I can tell that they are not very familiar with what they do. A few days later when I drove the car again the window stopped rolling back up so I’m not 100% sure if it’s related with their «fix» but they told me that I need to replace a part which they don’t have. I was asked to go to somewhere else. ugh!

I haven’t Unilocaled in a long time but this one might help some folks out there.
Asked Leo’s to put on two tires I had inside my car that a friend had given me. I told him I was local and could leave my car all day, get to it when you can. The guy flat out told me it was like going to a steak restaurant and bringing your own steak! I guess he’s never been to a restaurant because service is priced as part of the meal. He then quoted me $ 35/​tire. I guess this prick was hungry!
Went over to Big O on MacArthur which quoted me $ 20/​tire, then I heard someone say the place right down the street (½ block opposite side of street) is great for labor only jobs. Got them both balanced and put on with no wait for $ 10/​tire, only $ 20 out the door!!! Thx Leo, suck it. My deal was pure profit for you. Basic economics of a service business. Saved $ 50 and will be able to eat a big juicy steak at the nicest of places, if I was so inclined.
If you like buying jerks steak dinners, getting treated like an A-​hole bc you ask the tire guy if he can install tires, call Leo’s for a good time. He won’t disappoint.

Plus he took off an extra $ 120 because he said I «seemed like a cool dude». Gotta love Tom and the shop boys for fast and friendly service at better prices than the big companies. Thanks boys!!!

These guys used to be good. NOT ANY MORE. I went to get my brakes replaced. 6 weeks later the screeching was unreal. I went to Noe Valley Auto Works on the recommendation of a friend. Noe Valley guys told me the brakes were installed incorrectly.
They showed me the brakes that Leo’s put in. They were worn in such a way there was a rim on the brakes where the wear was uneven. It was a safety hazard.
I’m sad that Leo’s is awful now, but from a safety perspective I recommend you go elsewhere.

Got a nail through my tire, called Leo’s and they told me to stop by and drop the tire off. They took care of the tire, patched it in 30 minutes and put the tire back on my car. Really good experience, friendly local DogPatch merchant.

I had a flat and they patched it up cheaply and quickly. They proactively found a problem with another tire and also found a quick and cheap solution for me. Very easy to and friendly and I’ll be back.

Five stars, because the did exactly what they said they would do.
I needed to get two tires for the front of my 2005 Kia Sportage. 215/​65R16. (I found out that many shops cannot be bothered to look up the tire size by make and model — Leo’s did). As a grad student, used tires fit the budget better than new, which would have cost me around $ 100 — $ 150 each. I called all over the City and determined that my particular size was rather popular /​unpopular — depending on your outlook of the glass being half-​full or empty — because no one had them. Actually, I found a shop with one, but that did not help. Leo’s had them.
I told the guy on the phone (sorry, don’t remember his name) that I would be coming in the afternoon, around 1 PM or so. He said that they do not take appointments and that it might be a bit busy and that I might have to wait a bit. I came around 3 PM and was told that it was too busy, that I really ought to come first thing in the morning.
On retrospect, I should have clued into what I was told on the phone, because I could have saved a drive across town. I returned the next morning around 9 AM. Drove right in and had a pair of decently treaded tires, $ 40 each. No one tried to up sell me into purchasing new tires. The guy there was friendly, and seemed like he was happy to be helping me. I’ll go back in about a month to have the rear tires replaced.

This place is a serious rip off. Haha I went in to get a tire plugged that I thought was too close to the sidewall. Well it was. No prob Jim what’s the cost for a new one I asked. Well he came back with 225 bucks for a new one with balance and mounting. Hahah so I looked it up online right there and it was 75 bucks. And any local tire store will mount it for under 20 bucks. He got all mad when I called him out on the gouging price and he went on to tell me he didn’t want my service anyway. Hahaha seriously people this place is not worth the headache or gouging of price for one tire. Or any service of that matter. The manager Jim tries ripping off everyone. Definitely better places near by. Trust me.

We needed new tires. I’m not a car maintenance person, and not very versed on things like «tires». After doing research online, I found this place on Unilocal and saw it had decent reviews. Also, we prefer to give my business to smaller establishments rather giant corporations. I went to Leo’s and was helped by Jim, the manager. Getting a quote for tire prices, he wrote down on a piece of paper his quote with the specs, brand, and model number for the tires. When I mentioned that I must leave to confer with my partner, he asked for me to give the paper, with his quote, back to him. He then proceeded to write, on new piece of paper, the same quote… it was the same price, however he purposely left-​out the tire’s model number (just gave the brand). Well, Jim, that’s pretty freakin shady of you. Of course, I’m going to verify and compare prices, on my own, since I don’t know about tires.
I called him 20 mins later. I told him that we had never heard of this brand, that we would like a brand that was not the tire equivalent of «Pro-​Wings» shoes from Payless. He then quoted me another brand and model. Well I had my tablet in my hands, looked-​up the tires he just quoted. I guess he was too busy (though I had just come from there and there were no customers), but also realizing that I was checking his quote online right there and then, he abruptly had to go. No sooner than the millisecond after he had hung up, the search results popped-​up on my screen. They showed that he was quoting me $ 150 for $ 80/​$ 85 tires.
Hey Jim, you tried it with me and failed. It’s sad when I think of those unsuspecting people of which had fallen victim to your scam. I hope this review will keep many out of your clutches

I called over 15 different tire shops looking for tires for my car (all found on Unilocal). I was given some outrageous quotes for tires that weren’t worth that much ($ 800 for tires that only cost $ 50 each online — I don’t think so).
Thank goodness for Leo’s Tire & Brake. I called, he gave me a quote over the phone of $ 417 for 4 tires, tax, etc. He gave me the exact name and brand of my tire so that I could do my own research before deciding. I was so excited for someone who gave me an honest quote. Leo’s prices were actually cheaper than Sears and Walmart which worked out perfectly for me because neither of those places are located near me.
I came in during lunch, it took about 2 hours which worked out great for me as I ran errands with my boyfriend. Came back, grabbed a sandwich from the place around the corner, and picked up my car.
Leo called the next day to let me know that my brakes were running low and I got a postcard in the mail a couple of days ago! I felt really special :)

I had a great experience here last week when buying new tires. I did not have to spend an arm and a leg, I got good tires and they finished my car when they said they would!
I requested an oil change which includes a 50 point inspection checking all sorts of car related things. They ended up addressing a few issues at no extra cost which was super cool!

After a terrible experience elsewhere, I luckily found Leo’s. I have been back for new tires, break service, alignment and even a new main relay. I had called them for an auto shop recommendation and when I told them what was wrong they said they could do it themselves. One stop shop!
As a woman, it is hard to go into these types of places alone because some feel inclined to overprice and take advantage. Not Leo’s. When shopping around, their prices are always at or below the competition.
Doug and Jorge are very friendly and are guys you can trust!
