They’re closed.
No more margaritas on Fillmore. * sigh *

I can’t comment about the food at Leticia’s, having only munched on some chips with salsa and guacamole, but the margaritas were large and well balanced. When we needed to get a cab afterwards, not only did the manager offer to call one, but when he got a busy signal, he opened up the phone book to find alternative cab companies to call.
Years and years ago, back when Leticia’s was in the Castro, my wife and I went there and weren’t overly impressed by the food, but as a place for a hefty cocktail, it wasn’t a bad place to go to escape from the rain.

Who the hell makes nachos with pizza sauce? No lie: It was sweet tomato sauce with oregano.
It’s even worse than when it was on Market Street, and that’s really saying something.
The only nice thing I can think of to say is that it was better than Tommy’s.

When did it become okay to hoodwink patrons through the application of appealing décor only to shock their stomachs with horrible food and terrible service? really. the gaul. this was like a bad Denny’s episode off of interstate 5 outside of Delano, CA. and i like Denny’s. so the next few sentences are directed right at Leticia’s: first off, your margarita’s SUCK and gave us vertigo. in the BAD way. the chips are always on the table, they are not served to you. they are like the table centerpiece. that’s gross. your salsa tastes like it is straight out of five jars you blended together for kicks. and the ultimate disgusting finale is your ceviche, which arrived in a shrimp cocktail glass drowning in cocktail sauce. again, BAD cocktail sauce. the only thing you didn’t destroy was a side of refried beans. i will NEVER GO THERE again. oh yeah, your service is disenchanting too.

EDIT (³⁄₁₉): Leticia’s is closed and Crepevine is opening in its place! Every time I walk past it I want to burst into song a la the munchkins in Wizard of Oz…

I’ve been here a couple of times for work things, but yuck. The interior is too empty and blah and the food doesn’t make up any for the lack of atmosphere. The only redeeming quality was the huge, fruity margaritas. They weren’t great, but they sure did get us drunk.
EDIT: Dude. Leticia. Your margarita on the rocks served in a pint glass (maybe larger) is only the second drink in my life to make me throw up. Sweet. I feel like I’m in high school.
I swear if my coworkers talk me into going there one more time…

Came here last night for a dinner w/​5 of my co-​workers. We were seated very quickly and they even let us change tables a few times before we were satisfied with our location. Our drinks came quick and so did our food. We wanted them to slow it down a little because the plates were too big for our table, but they said they couldn’t. The steak quesadilla and seafood paella were really good. We also really enjoyed the banana vallarta. We were there mostly so we could hang out, celebrate, and get a little loud, and it was perfect for that.

The first time I went, I told myself I would never go back. The service was terrible, the food was cold and it took a good 20 minutes to get a margarita. I gave it a second chance and the only thing I enjoyed were my fajitas. The good looks on the outside are very deceiving!

Leticia’s moved out of the very gay Castro and relocated to the space once occupied by the very gay Alta Plaza at the end of the commercial Fillmore corridor in lower Pacific Heights. If the old locale was big and dark, with a hint of stale Dos Equis in the air, the new digs are smaller, brighter, and oddly configured, because in the middle is a bar, and a rather large one at that, dominating the space. Despite a scattering of Mexican floor tiles and wall art and adobe paint, the interior looks fairly generic, and a lot less colorful than the thematic atmosphere found in chains like Chevy’s. Upon being seated, you’re served the seemingly mandatory basket of chips (here thick and, surprisingly, nearly free of salt, which usually encourages the downing of several margaritas) and salsa (on the thin side, tomatillo green rather than red, and fairly zesty). Menu options are typical. A very decent Pollo Vallarta is a huge platter of chicken strips and prawns sauteed in a sauce of white wine, onions, peppers, and tomato, with Monterey Jack cheese melted on top. Beans and rice are served on the side, the standard accompaniment to all dinner entrees. You’ll find portions are large, everything is overpriced, and nothing is extraordinary. If you happen to find yourself in a Mexican mood after a movie at the Clay, Leticia’s will do, but a far better bet would be any of the hole-​in-​the-​wall tacquerias in the Mission.

I know this is going to make me sound like a goob — but I’ve been to Leticia’s like four times… all the other reviewers are correct in saying that the food is mediocre and the drinks are watered down… and yet i’ve been: multiple times! It could be a combination of sometimes friendly bartenders (who invited us to a party the next night he was hosting for doctors– a straight arrow into my bleeding heart :), the quantity of food (i didn’t say quality) or the general din that seems to rise above the crowd anytime after 7pm. What can I say, if you’re looking for a big, loud kind of Mexican restaurant without the baggage of La Barca, this sort of hit the spot!

SLOW service. I work a block up and have come here a few times for lunch and it always turns into a long lunch, and not the good kind of long lunch. Ugh. The food is okay — really overpriced and what is up with the american items on the menu? Did they not think that Mexican food was enough? Avoid.

Leticia’s was disappointing all around. The chips are too thick and hard, and the salsa is very watery. When we went there, we couldn’t order a blended margarita because all of their blenders were broken! I’ll never go back.

Sorry, Leticia. You look like an inviting restaurant from the outside, but like a cheap bar from the inside. We expected, at least, a great Mexican meal. But even that was too much to ask — if your chips and salsa were an indication of what was to come — you are right. We cut our losses by ordering a few (inexpensive) appetizers. Hopefully others have a better experience.
