I am not ashamed to admit that I am an idiot when it comes to financial planning and investing. Since giving what little money that I had to someone else to invest it for me was not an idea I was super-​comfortable with, I figured that was a path I would never go down. Still, I met and/​or spoke with Aram on a few occasions to get his input on financial matters, and he was always gracious, informative and attentive. He never made me feel like I was asking stupid questions, even though I probably was. Eventually I asked if he would consider taking me and my husband on as clients, even though relatively speaking, we didn’t have much to start with. We met, discussed what our goals were, and he explained his philosophies and exactly what we could expect if we signed up. So we did — and that was about four years ago. My husband and I still laugh about how we began investing through Aram’s company right before the stock market went all to hell. The thing is — even during the really dark times for Wall Street, we still seemed to be doing pretty well! Especially during those times, Aram was very attentive to us as clients, sending frequent correspondence not only regarding our account, but also to discuss current events and how that had, or would, affect the financial market.
You can tell that Aram really loves what he does, and his enthusiasm shines through in all of his interactions with us. He even happily suggested some books to provide background on his own philosophies (my husband said they were good reading.) The bottom line is — it turned out to be a great decision to sign up with Niehaus, we trust Aram wholeheartedly, and he does a great job!

Liberty Hill Investing has been managing the majority of my investments since 2005. The fact that we’ve weathered the worst financial storm since the Great Depression together, that I am still a client, and that I am willing to give five stars in this review should speak for itself.
I’ve retained two other investment accounts over the same period, and Liberty Hill Liberty has consistently outperformed them (by a margin of over 20%), as well as the S&P 500 (by a margin of approximately 34%).
I believe Liberty Hill’s «secret» is in making level-​headed decisions. Although I was salivating at nearly 200% gains at one point in late 2007, Aram reminded me that– for better and for worse– his approach is long term. His stock picks are based on a calculated study of fundamentals — not fads, tips, or the breaking market news. As my investments with Liberty Hill have slowly but surely outpaced other investments, I am reassured of my long term financial stability. If you’re looking to get rich quick, you’d best look elsewhere; if you’re looking to build a strong financial future, this may be the place for you.
I find the fees to be reasonable, and I enjoy dealing with a real human being with an email address and phone number who can answer my questions and respond to my concerns. I can even make requests that would likely be impossible under other circumstances. (For example, as a vegetarian, I requested that Aram sell off some stock that he had purchased with a company whose principal business deals with meat. He willingly obliged — unfortunately, that stock has since gone through the roof.)
Update 2013: Just did my taxes, prompting me to do an annual checkup on my finances. With the market now recovering, I’m happy to report my account with Liberty Hill is not only doing well, but well ahead of other my other investments, which are still struggling to make up money lost during the recession. If I weren’t locked in to those other accounts, I’d happily transfer more of my money to Liberty Hill’s management.
