Little Joe’s Pizzeria

Nice little pizza parlor in the heart of Excelsior-​Mission Terrace border. Decent place to get your slice of Pizza pie. I dined here a short while ago with a work colleague. Pizza with the Green (Vege Spinach) and White Sauce (Ranch Dip) and Lemonade.

This place is THE BEST!!! I ordered a pie and they said it would be 45 minutes. The pie was delivered in 30 minutes. WOW! This place is the best pizza place I know.

Favorite pizza in the neighborhood. Old school pizza joint with quality pies.

So sad to be leaving this review but Little Joes has officially lost my business.
We do not live in the city so when we want pizza we always call ahead and dine in. Well not tonight. When we arrived, with our two toddlers in hand, the older lady in the front was so nasty we were shocked.
She did not make eye contact with us nor did she explain why we couldnt dine in like usually do. Her workers behind her kept their heads down as is their slave master was talking.
This is our last pizza from this place. We will start going to Escape from NY pizza in the mission. While the traffic may be hectic at least the customer service is exceptional.
This woman should not be dealing with customers. The quality of the pizza does not outweigh their disrespectful, nasty, employee attitude.

Finally received my delivery in 1hr 45 min.
this was as 1pm … In the afternoon, not ‘prime time’

I moved into the neighborhood and just went this weekend with the family. Will not go again. I should have asked the specific price: $ 6 Bud light in the bottle, $ 3.50 for a glass of milk for the kids. Pizza was ok.

I called in an order for delivery, got an XL pizza and chicken wings. The order took around 1 hour and 15 minutes to arrive, which was right around what they told me. As far as the pizza goes, it wasn’t as good as other reviews led me to believe. I think it was due to the dough being very thick and somewhat hard. This could be because it was delivery and the pizza was probably sitting around for a bit. The toppings were good but overall the pizza was too bread-​heavy. The chicken wings, however, were very good. I asked for parmesan cheese and pepper packets which they didn’t include. Overall experience was ok, I probably won’t go back for the pizza but I could see myself going back for the wings. Customer service was good over the phone, no issues there. I probably should have ordered thin crust, maybe that would have added an extra star to the rating.

Still the BEST pizza in the city in my eyes. Expect nice healthy fat slices when you eat here. The staff is A++ and the food is five star quality for sure. I stand by this place 100% as I grew up on bravos pizza and Little Joe’s since I can remember, yup!.. Born and raised in the mission baby. But I’m going to have to say that in the end I stayed faithful to Little Joe’s, as everything about this place was better. From the Italian mafia black&red leather/​suede décor to the Mexican food on the menu. Yes folks! The Mexican food here is legit too. Don’t believe me? Try the REAL «Mexican pizza» thats on their secret menu (Sshhhhh). Not into Mexican I understand try my favorite «P.M.S pizza» pepperoni, mushrooms and sausage. Mmmmmmn so good I just made my mouth water lol. Either way if it’s dine in or take out, one huge slice or a whole pie! This is the pizza place to go in the city.

Good pizza… the girl that helped us was the only working so kudos to her. The staff was very helpful when you walk in. Pretty cool looking place, the bar was pretty cool looking. The place looks pretty much like a 70s place

This review is strictly based on one employee!
I called to make a simple order for pickup on a Monday night. I felt like the lady who answered was rushing me off the phone. Anyways, she said it’ll be ready in 6 min. I got there in 10min. As I walked in it took her like 30 seconds to notice I was there. When she finally noticed i was there before talking to me or simply smiling she starts talking to an employee and hands him something. She finally looks at me, and simply waits for me to start telling her what I wanted. After a few seconds of awkward silence I realized that she wasn’t going to say «hi» or «how can I help you?» so i said «Hi i ordered a pizza over the phone» in which she confirmed my order in which she got it wrong. I told her I asked for garlic fries not garlic bread. In which she responded that she said on the phone that they had garlic bread. Which left me confused as to why she would even say that on the phone. If I ask for garlic fries and you don’t have them then the logical substitute would be regular fries. Not garlic bread. That’s a whole different food. Anyways back to the story. She was very annoyed that she made bread and told her coworker that someone needs to take the bread home because I made a mistake. She then quickly tries to charge me, all this time in shock of the rude service I’m receiving. So before she swipes my card I remember for a drink. (keep in mind that most places will ask you if you want a drink beforehand.) which she rolls her eyes. Pauses when sliding my card and says with a snirky attitude «anything else?» (emphasis on the «else») and 15 min later i finally get to leave. (originally said 6min until ready) BTW it was the rude large lady. Don’t want this review to be directed at another lady who might work other shifts.

Terrible pizza, terrible customer service, terrible business…
Here’s how a recent experience went–
I called to place an order for two large combination pizzas recently and when they finally showed up nearly 2 hours later, they were cold and the cheese was coagulated.
When I called to voice my complaint, I was told by the condescending woman who answered the phone to «pop them into the oven and heat them up!» I mean, really? I just spent nearly $ 60 on two of your pizzas and you’re telling me to «pop them into the oven?» Arghhhhhhh!!!
Never again will I order food from this establishment. Bravo Pizza is one block away and is way better! Plus, at Bravo they’re actually friendly.

My standards aren’t that high for pizzerias. It’s easy to make pizza taste good. But this pizza was delivered to my house with a big burn mark on the crust which isn’t actually the reason I’m not calling these guys again. Their Caesar Salad which costs 11 bucks is just romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese, super greasy old croutons, and some overly sweet soybean based dressing that didn’t seem to have any anchovie paste in it at all. There were no anchovies in the salad. I’m SO tired of getting cheated this way. If you charge $ 11 for a salad, it needs to be good.
Their pizza also costs too much.

After an evening of terrible customer service prompted a family member of mine to write a one star review, I figured it was time I write one myself.
First off, I’ve been going to Little Joes for as long as I remember. I grew up eating their chorizo and jalapeño pizza. When our family wanted pizza, Little Joes was the place to be. Up until now I would order pizza from then atleast once if not twice a month.
The pizza tastes great, it’s my favorite, however, as the years went on I began to see a decline in customer service. When Dining In the waiters are extremely aloof and don’t really seem to care about providing customer service. If you’re thirsty you’re better off asking for a pitcher of water than hoping they’ll be quick with refills. Not that t matters, you could go up to twenty minutes without seeing a waiter, which is almost impossible considering how small this place is.
I would sometimes order delivery and the Woman who answers the phone who is also the owner is extremely rude. She seems to think she’s doing you the favor by answering the phone. She’s got no customer service skills whatsoever, basically she’s a Bitch.
After all these shortcomings I chose to keep my mouth shut because I love the pizza THAT much. I used to be proud of this place and tell all my friends and visiting family about it. After the recent review about the gnat in the pizza and how the situation was handled by the owner I am disgusted.
I will NEVER go back to Little Joes. It’s a shame to see a place I held so dear turn into a shithole of bad service that leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Little Joes has lost a long time customer and I will be spreading the word about this terrible place.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant with my family since I was a kid and had never received such horrible customer service as I did tonight. It was honestly the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
We ordered an extra large pizza and half way into my first slice I found a FLY IN MY PIZZA! I immediately brought up my slice to the woman in front who I believe to be named Patty (who is also the owner) and pointed out the fly that had been cooked in my pizza. She looked at the slice and said she had noticed them flying around earlier as if that was an okay excuse as to why there was a fly in my pizza. She brushed it off like it was no big deal, so I went back to my seat thinking that maybe she would compensate me in some way. My sister and cousin continued to eat their half of the pizza but I no longer had an appetite and left my half alone.
When our server came with the check I noticed that they didn’t even bother to give me a discount or anything. I really didn’t want to be that person but I asked our server if there was a way we could get us a discount since there was a fly in my pizza and I couldn’t even enjoy it. She had no idea that had happened and took the check back to talk to the owner. When she came back she said the owner gave her a hard time and didn’t want to give me a discount but she took $ 10 off of the bill. She also told me to just go ahead and talk to the owner myself.
When I went up to the front to talk to patty again I was not trying to be rude in any way but I told her that I thought we should get more of a discount especially since half of the pizza was going to waste. She started arguing with me and saying that it was just a little gnat and that she had eaten at worse restaurants where she found hair in her food. first of all, why would you want YOUR restaurant to be held to those standards. Second of all where did you learn your customer service skills from? She then went on to yell at me and say that if I didn’t want to pay for it to leave and never come back. I was so shocked to get that response from her and it really pissed me off. especially coming from the owner! I work customer service and I’ve worked as a server and I know this issue could have easily been resolved. But instead she turned into a way bigger deal than it had to be by yelling and threatening me to never come back. Sorry, but when I was a server I would have never of made my table pay for a meal that had a pest in it! I wasn’t looking for a freebie, I had no problem paying for the half of the pizza that was eaten, but the way she spoke to me made me never want to give them a single one of my dollars ever again. I’m more upset about how she handled the situation than finding the stupid fly in my food. I would have gladly returned but after the way she treated me I am never going back there again and will make sure my family and friends never do either. It’s sad that she represents the restaurant because it used to be one of my favorite pizza spots. By reading some of the reviews I see that I am not the only one who feels this way.

I know the digs are all mafia-​esque, which I would love to visit first hand. Just dive right into the whole mood, in one of their big, shiny, red vinyl booths. But so far I’ve only experienced Little Joe’s delivery.
And, I can’t comment about their pizza because I’ve only ordered their Mexican food so far…
Having read raves about their Mexican fare, I had to try.
Chicken tacos the first time. Beef tacos the second time. All delicious.
They are all the things good tacos should be. Crunchy shell, tender filling, flavorful & juicy. Taste fresh & old school. You can order a la carte, 3 tacos, or the dinner which is 2 tacos w spanish rice, refried beans, & 2 corn tortillas. They garnish the tacos w avocado slices & tomato. Props for both the rice & the beans. Authentic to boot.
The dinner is generous & very filling. The tacos a la carte are doable. I can actually eat 3 of them, though then I’m done for the night.
Both times delivery was swift.
Authentic & delicious Mexican food at an Italian joint? I’ll take it.
Incidentally, it’s actually located on Mission Street near Italy Avenue. Get it?! Mexican & Italian food, @ Mission near Italy!!!
Just sayin.

WINGS 4 STARS /​PIZZA 2 STARS I don’t know if it’s just because it’s Super Bowl game day, but pizza was a disappointment… It had no sauce, and wayyy too much crust, I left ½ my slices because there was nothing on it! Won’t be going back for the pizza

Expensive for the quality expected, I paid close to $ 30 for an 18″ pepperoni mushroom and onion. There were only a few pepperoni pieces and the onion (used as a filler) overpowered the entire pie. I’m not talking small pieces of onion, large disc slices usually found in your typical onion ring were used in this simple yet seemingly sophisticated formula of what a good pizza should be.
When ordering from Little Joes, don’t forget to order extra sauce if you want your pie by regular pizza sauce standards; the pizza I received was quite dried out and reminded me of frozen pizza

Yay! Good pizza that delivers to my place. You have no idea how happy this makes me. Plus, the prices are right and I love the décor of the place when I go to pick up a pizza. It just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.
It’s not gourmet $ 22/​person pizza but it is solid, well made and taaasty.
Did I mention they deliver? Like, to my house?!? (Yeah, I’m a LOT excited about that!)

Decided to try this place because it was pretty close. There were plenty of other pizza places around, but this place had good reviews.
Large pizza cost about 24 dollars. Pizza was a little too salty. It lacked flavor. Crust was a little on the hard side, and quite dry. The cheese was done right but that was about it.
Garlic bread was okay but would not order again, nothing special.
Given the choice to choose between this or a Costco pizza at the same price, I would choose the Costco pizza.

Fantastic pizza and very friendly service… I used to frequent Bravo Pizza and quite frankly just got burned out on the attitude from the misanthrope who works at the front… sorry Pete but I just can’t deal with it anymore. Way too much negativity… Plus, this place has great pizza!
I’m editing my review now… LEGIT 5 STAR PIZZA!!! SOOO glad I found this place!!!
