Oh my goodness. I can’t believe how delicious their papusas are! I am literally writing this review as I’m eating one so I’ll remember the exact feeling of happiness lol. I’m not too familiar with the food but the slaw-like side for the papusas is so amazing and I feel like I can eat it as a salad. I also ordered the steak with beans and rice and it’s so favorful and tender. I love that this place is open late so I can fulfill my late night papusa cravings. Thank you flor for taking care of us for my father’s birthday dinner !!!

After a show I came here with my friends, I didn’t know what to expect. There is only one person checking tables and taking orders. The burrito was good but I can make one better. Im only here because Taco Bell was no an option. I am very thirsty and need water. Slow service. Even when I paid she took forever. I didn’t even get my water, I’m already in the car, they charge 25 cents for a to go box, but I wrapped my burrito in a napkin because I’m on a budget. Goodbye

I’ve been going to this place for a long time, and never thought to write a review. I saw it was listed as a ‘Mexican’ restaurant and that didn’t seem right. It’s a Salvadorean restaurant; that’s why they serve pupusas and their chicharones are so good. Maybe the difference doesn’t matter to Unilocal, but I’ll bet it makes a difference to the people that own the place. Anyway, this place has great food, is open all day AND till the wee hours of the morning. The chips and hot sauce are fresh and delicious. The ‘Platillo Typico’ is a great sampler for those unfamiliar with the cuisine. Sure, you can get tacos and burritos here, but that isn’t what they do best. Although the Enchiladas Suizas are fantastic. And yes, I once found a bone in the chicken enchilada, but, guess what? Chickens have bones! They buy whole chickens, they cook them and pull them apart to make your dinner. That’s where chicken meat comes from. Sometimes you miss a bone, shit happens. If that fact frightens you, stick to frozen/boneless chicken breast at Taco Bell. Generally, if I find a bone in a Chicken or Fish dish, I am happy in the knowledge that someone in the kitchen actually bothers to buy and process whole animals. Maybe they even know how to cook…

3 starts because their chicken borrito had bones(((((((it was not mentioned on the menu that you may stab the roof of your mouth with a chicken bone because they stew/boil/steam their chicken meat)))), it was bland but at least the beans were scrumptious. The pupusas revueltas were delicious and if I decided to come back it will be the only thing I order from here. I got up to pay at the register because it was busy and only one lady working the floor, which I had no problem doing… BUT I kind of wish I never did because I saw the lady put tortillas in the warmer THEN touched the calculator, a pen, the menu, a little notebook to write down my total, the cash register, handled my debt card and then TOOKOUTTHETORTILLASWITHTHOSEBAREHANDS. I might be too much on the whole clean hands thing but I was totally grossed out. who knows what kind of microbes are crawling on those menus! also, the bathroom had no paper towels.

Love this place! The best popusas in town and inexpensive. Very attentive and friendly service. This place has been there for over 30 years. Also, it is open until 3am and weekends until 4am.

One of my dirty secrets in life is that I don’t really like pupusas. They’re simply not as good as lots of other things you can eat and I don’t really get the hype. BUT the pupusas as Los Panchos are really really good. Like good enough that if most pupusas were this good(and I’ve lived in some pretty Salvadoran neighborhoods) maybe it’d change my mind. Los Panchos is a delicious outlier.

Went on a date here. The atmosphere is casual, busy, and the staff is friendly. I got the loca papusa. I think it has everything they have put inside, it was tasty. The chips and salsa had some good heat. The hortchata was a little bit too sweet for me, it had a medicinal taste. I hope to return.

I LOVEDthis place the first time i went. Has great Chorizo & eggs. My husband gets the Enchiladas &LOVES them. The Salvadorian Horchata tastes a little bit like old dirty water.(Don’t get it) Other than that, the beans & rice are delicious & the flautas are very good also. The 3rd or 4th time i had this food i ordered delivery and it was a HUGE mistake. The food was cold and horrible. Maybe they changed the chef. Never will go back.

We come here about twice a month with the ladies after Sunday night dinner. We are all Salvadorian so we enjoy our pupusas and cola champan. My boss’s sister works here so we are always treated so great and with the best attention from all the staff, we always find parking in front or a few stores down. It’s usually pretty busy but fast service and attentiveness and of course being in our ambiance what’s better then that to kick back with the girls on a Sunday night. — that sounded like some oldies. Haha definitely love this place.

I was very pleased, I love their pupusas, although it was the only one I’ve ever had. My friends raved about this place so I thought I’d give it a try. The dining area is somewhat spacious. The people are awfully friendly and They’re quick which is another plus. Definitely going back some day.

Pupusas! If you ask what kind they have they will say all kinds. The menu only says cheese & mixed so this means they have cheese, chicken, pork, beans, & veggie and mixed is pork I think lol! The wait was long to get them even after I called in an order to pick them up :/ Pro’s are they open insanely late 4am to be exact, crazy.

Returning to SF after having moved away five years ago, I was disappointed to learn that El Zocalo is no longer, but relieved to find out that Los Panchos does late-night pupusas, Unfortunately, as Jay N notes, the pupusas here are definitely on the greasy side. Sure, 2:00 am is not the time to be counting calories or fat grams, but still…

I love Los Panchos. Why? Because it’s open till 3 and it’s near my hood. First of all, the cole slaw is a great touch. I love anything pickled, and they give a great amount. I’ve never had papusas prior to this place, so I was in for a ride. The chichiron and cheese papusas is definitely worth a try if you come here. There hasn’t been much of a wait when you go after 12am.

This is my go to for Salvadorean food. WHAT I GET: 2 papusas with rice and beans. Chiccarones and Cheese. Im not a bean person and I am in love with their refried beans. I once told the older female server that I was in love with their beans and she told me «oh mija we put alot of care into the beans» The chips and guac… topped with Salvi crema… SOBOMB Get the horchata… its Salvi style

Oh holy, pupusas! How to eat a pupusa: 1. Eat it with your hands! But it you can’t, cut your pupusa to a small bite piece. 2. Take some curtído(cabbage) to put atop the piece 3. Lastly, if you like spice, top it off with some spicy salsa sauce from the tortilla chips Tina’s Tips and Tantrums — My first and not last time trying Salvadoran food. Mom and pop shop! — Pupusa consists of a flour fry panned on each side. The size and shape of a CD and as thick as an DVD case. Only way I can relate the two. — Pupusa con chicharron y queso! $ 2.25 per pupusa?! How can you beat that? — I don’t eat Mexican food, but Mexican food does not come close to Salvadoran food. — Crunchy yet soft at the same time filled with pulled pork and cheese. Without the curtído, it wouldn’t taste the same! It gave it a great texture and vinegar taste to balance it out. — $ 40 with tip for 5 people
