Believe all the hype! Christina is so awesome! She made me feel so comfortable and most importantly, beautiful! She’s responsive, kind, professional, and beyond talented! I was lucky enough to book her for my engagement photos but was too slow to book her for my wedding! Word to the wise, book her as fast as you can!

Christina is awesome! She did my hair and makeup for my wedding day and I looked perfect. She really listened to what I was looking for and delivered. My mom kept saying that my husband and I looked like celebrities. Folks, I give you the power of makeup… and Christina wields that power! Besides being totally awesome with a makeup brush, she can also work a curling iron.
The only thing that may be a turn off. would be the price. BUT if you really want quality work and someone who knows what they’re doing and who cares for the client THEN Christina is your gal!

Chris was great. She really went above and beyond her normal duties and assisted greatly during our photo shoot (even though she didn’t have to). She made me look amazing and fresh for my wedding. She showed up on time and did an excellent job helping me to maintain my look throughout the day. Without her, our photos wouldn’t have turned out as nice. I would recommend her to anyone. Christina is a gem! Not only is she talented, she just has the best possible personality that eases you from any anxiety from your big day. I asked Christina to do my makeup for engagement shoot, my mendhi/​Sangeet night, my wedding ceremony and reception. I had 4 individual looks and 4 amazing days of pictures. Christina makes you look flawless but still human. I felt like a princess on all my wedding day events. I can never thank her enough for glamming up my face and my hair. Thank you Christina!

From the moment I made initial contact with Christina, which by the way she was lightening fast at responding throughout the entire wedding planning process which I’m sure many of you can appreciate, to the day of the wedding, she took it upon herself to provide the best service and experience. Christina spent a lot of time with me during the trial and the wedding day, listened to my requests, gave me great skincare advice, and was super accommodating. Christina really went above and beyond my expectations to make me picture perfect for my wedding!
For someone like me who wears makeup on a daily basis, it can be difficult to find a makeup artist who can apply makeup the way I like since I’m used to putting it on a certain way. Well with Christina, I was so, so happy with her work from my eyebrows, liner, shadow, contouring, all of it! I would love for her to do my makeup and hair any day!
Beyond her amazing work, I really enjoyed getting to know Christina. She’s an awesome person and I really hope to work with her again soon. Thank you Christina, you’re seriously the best!!! :)

I had the pleasure of letting Christina do my hair and makeup on my wedding ceremony this Sunday, the 26^th of July — 2015 including touchup before the reception the same day. My wedding was a Bengali, Indian traditional wedding in San Jose. A couple of photographs are up here on my Instagram profile (

My new husband generally does not like any makeup on me, but he was completely blown away! Christina does a brilliant job on the eyes and spends time working through the makeup on your big day. She did an excellent job on my hair as well — for my wedding ceremony, her wedding bun was really good. During touchup and before the reception, I kept my hair open. Christina did a lovely job by curling my hair from the bottom and straightening it on top. She is such a pleasure to work with too!
Christina might seem a little pricey initially in comparison to other makeup artists, but trust me — she is worth every penny! And I’m sure you guys only want the best for your wedding day!
Recommended for everyone out there! I’m definitely going back to Christina more often for makeup on very special occasions. All the best Christina!

Christina did hair and makeup for me for my wedding and also did hair for three of my bridesmaids as well as makeup for two of them. Everyone looked ABSOLUTELY stunning! I did not do a trial because I was not living in the bay area until right before the wedding and the makeup could not have turned out better. We also had flower crowns in our hair and Christina worked them in beautifully. There are not enough good things I can say about Christina, easy to work with and beautiful work about sums it up. Would highly recommend her to anyone.

I met her years back at a photoshoot I took part in and ever since she did my makeup that day, my end goal was to basically stalk her business and keep in touch until the day I was to get married: P
Fast forward 6 years and the time has finally come, except that Christina was now in the Bay Area. I definitely did not plan for that in my vision lolll. My (now) husband and I also moved to the bay the year before so it turned out we were conveniently neighbors with Christina, but our wedding venue was in SoCal … My husband definitely knew how determined I was to have Christina be the one that does my makeup — because it’s Christina and she’s amazing, of course — so you can imagine how ecstatic I was to find that she did makeup lessons! Which was ideal for brides that would be having their weddings far away (Me! Me!).
The makeup lesson was 3 hours long — and rightly so – there are so many things to know about makeup! Christina was so great in guiding me step-​by-​step. She would do one side, stop at a certain point, I would mimic her, then she would continue. She not only broke down the steps in a digestible way, but she also shared with me tips, techniques, and the right tools I was to use.
I had flashbacks of the times I would YouTube makeup tutorials — you know the ones you try to mimic and it ends up looking like a drunk, overdone version of your everyday look — but this was not the case with Christina. This was a one-​on-​one session tailored just for me, my skin type, my eye shape, all of me, to still look like me on one of the most momentous days of my life. And I looked like a bride. A ready-to-walk-down-the-aisle-and-take-a-million-kabajillion-photos-with-everyone-and-their-mom’s bride. And I even got to give myself brownie points because I, of course, got to do almost half (thanks to the guiding light named Christina Chen lol ;))
One of the biggest takeaways for me was something personal. I’ve always had eczema since I was a child. My skin is sensitive and scars easily. During my session with Christina she also gave me amazing advice on how to help my skin. The products and makeup removal advice she told me have changed my routine completely since that day. It’s been only 2 months since my appointment with her and my skin is what I’ve always wished it could’ve been. I can now be completely without foundation and be confident. This is priceless for me. I think that if it was anyone else, that they would just do the lesson and not get into any of the complicated extras that are involved, but Christina did. And I’ll forever be grateful for that :)
I obviously would recommend Christina to anyone and everyone, and I’m excited to! The 3 hours spent with her has helped me in the long-​term so much — whether it be my everyday makeup routine, or a dinner date with my *husband* — I can feel empowered to create my look! I can’t thank Christina enough! :)

Christina was amazing. I loved my hair and makeup. We got married under the Rotunda at the Palace of Fine Arts so my hair had to withstand the wind tunnel effect. All of my pictures came out gorgeous and my hair was perfect all morning, day and night. She accentuated my features without erasing who I am and gave me just what I wanted. To top it off, she’s just a really pleasant and kind person and you really enjoy your time with her. Thank you Christina!

I had my trial with Christina this past week and she was wonderful. I have never had my hair or makeup professionally done before and she made me feel comfortable and at ease during the entire process. She was a pleasure to talk to and was helpful with suggestions for the hair styling options I chose. I’m really excited for my big day and can’t wait for Christina to bring out my best look.

This review is a few months late, but last September I had my engagement session booked with our photographer and was emailing makeup artists like crazy trying to book someone for hair and makeup. I was stressed because I have always had a hard time with makeup. I am Mexican, but most people think that I’m Asian due to my almond eye shape and so I am always struggling on how to do my makeup. My fiancé was also really trying to get me to wear my hair up in a bun for the pictures (his favorite on me. weird I know haha). Plus I don’t usually wear a lot of makeup and whenever I have been to makeup artists before for dances or big nights out, they always paint my face 4 shades too light and make me feel like a clown. Needless to say, I was nervous.
But as soon as I got Christina’s email I knew she was the person for me. She was so bubbly and enthusiastic and excited to work with me – exactly what you want for someone who is doing your hair and makeup for pictures you will have FOREVER. She also almost immediately sent me a whole bunch of links to updos and makeup from pinterest and we settled on Sarah Hyland’s bun from the Emmy’s last year (LOVE) and I think Jessica Alba’s makeup from some random event. We even had to reschedule my photographer to the next day because Christina had a wedding on Saturday, but I wanted to work with her so badly, it was absolutely worth it!
Anyway, day of, I showed up at her fairly tiny studio and she was so easy to talk to and always asked before she did anything (ie type of foundation/​powder I was comfortable with, eyelashes, eyebrows, etc) but she was really good at explaining that since these were pictures, I might want to put a tad bit more on, especially since no one would really be seeing me. I even at some point asked her to move my bun down half an inch which was a total pain in the ass for her, but she did happily. In the end, I was ecstatic with my look and have never felt prettier. The pictures turned out AMAZING.
Thank you, Christina, for doing such an incredible job! I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for hair + makeup in the city!

This is a proxy review for Christina on the behanlf of my wife.
She did my wife’s make up for our wedding back in October. We had a day time wedding, so the mrs. needed to get her make up and hair done at the ass crack of dawn, and Christina was totally fine with the schedule. We got into her studio at about 5:30am, and got out of there in two hours as she had estimated, and had plenty of time to book it up to napa.
She was punctual, very positive, flexible, listened to concerns, and had great suggestions. All in all, the wife seemed very happy with the experience, and have been hounding me about writing up a review so others will know.

I had a friend’s wedding to go to in LA and wanted to learn how to do my own makeup for the event. I’ve always longed to for smokey eyes, but when I tried to learn from videos, the results never looked quite right (which was very disappointing and discouraging).
So, I decided to take a formal makeup lesson from Christina… and I’m so glad I did! Prior to our session, I sent her photos of the looks I was interested in learning. The 3 hours surprisingly went by quickly. She answered ALL my questions and made me feel more comfortable about applying makeup. I learned a lot and got some really good tips on how to apply makeup and what colors/​shades are best for me. She even gave me tips on how I could style my hair for the event. I got complimented a lot for my makeup at my friend’s wedding. :)
The class was totally worth it! Thank you, Christina!

Christina did my hair and make up for my wedding and she was amazing. I showed her pictures of the look I was going for and she nailed it. I like the more dramatic glam look plus it captures better in pictures. I felt like a princess! It was worth every penny. She definitely uses the best products and takes her time! I love that she did contouring! I never did a trial run everything was through email and she always got back to me right away. I will definitely be using her services again. I highly recommend using her you won’t be disappointed!

Such a great experience! I would say I was a makeup novice before seeing Chris. She was able to show me a number of useful techniques and recommend some ideal products. Now I am much more comfortable in the application process which is a relief. I used to think putting on makeup everyday was a cumbersome task, but armed with the tips I picked up from the class, I breeze through it in half the time and double the results!
Totally worth it and highly recommend!

I really enjoyed having class with Christina. She is really professional at her work and a very nice person. She shared her experiences with me how to apply makeups and taught me how should i do it myself.
I never really wear any makeups during my day to day life because i found it doesn’t look quite right on me, that’s why i started to search for a makeup lesson then I found her.
Her price is very reasonable and its easy to get to her place. She asked me to emailed her the looks i like so she can have a basic idea what she need to teach me before i went to the class. During the class, she is very patient with me and encouraging me to apply the makeup after her demonstrations.

Christina is amazing and soo so so talented. Brides, you won’t go wrong w/​Christina. She is patient, she is smart and she’s excellent at her craft. I had a Boudiour Session in San Francisco and w/​Christina’s help, I never felt sexier with my make up and big teased hair.
Located right off the 101N Freeway, it’s easily accessible and I can’t wait to see her again for future events.

I recently got married and used Christina for my trial, engagement photos, and wedding day. I’m not into hair and makeup; I spend as little time on my hair as possible and go for the simplest blow dry and brush style, and I know pretty much nothing about makeup or how to apply it.
She was great about staying in touch by email and was always willing to change the style, which was no easy feat, I’m sure, since I kept changing my mind between appointments. But she was so understanding and patient and took my feedback into consideration, and I got the natural look I wanted. For me, getting the look I was really happy with took several tries and evolved from one appointment to another (mainly bc I was so indecisive). I was so happy with the way I looked on my wedding day (which was the most important of the three sessions anyway). :)

Christina was so easy to work with. Not only was she responsive to my e-​mails and messages a year in advance to my wedding date, she was extremely patient and provided suggestions that were useful and cost sensitive!
Her assistant on the day of was also very friendly and quick but precise with her work. All of my bridesmaids looked fabulous! Christina and her assistant did a wonderful job on my mother and MIL. They were very attentive to their concerns and made adjustments to make them feel more comfortable.
I had two looks and the turnaround time was only about an hour. Christina worked her magic and was able to transition me from my tea ceremony look to my church ceremony look close to the timeframe.
I’m very thankful to Christina for making the process so easy and stress-​free! I would recommend her to anyone whose looking for quality work and someone who will truly listen to you ad help you make what’s in your head as an idea into reality.

Christina does excellent work! She did the makeup /​hair for my wife and her bridesmaids for our wedding recently and both of us were very happy with her work. She did an excellent job making my wife and the bridesmaids look beautiful and natural. My wife doesn’t normally wear (or need to wear) a lot of makeup, so it was great that Christina was able to make her look great while not making it look like she had a ton of makeup on. She also did a great job styling my wife’s hair and giving her the look that she wanted.
Christina was a pleasure to work with for our wedding. She was always on time and even came out to our wedding to do touch ups between the ceremony and reception. She also did the makeup and hair for our engagement shoot and did a great job. She has a studio in SOMA, which was super convenient for us since our engagement shoot was in the city.
We would definitely recommend Christina and would use her for special events in the future!
