Established in 1998.

Marilyn Jaeger Skincare has been in business for nearly 2 decades! MJ started with 1 room on Union Street, expanded to a Moroccan inspired flat on Spruce St and was able to custom build and design our intoxicatingly beautiful Studio at 3384 Sacramento St. in 2009. MJ, her Architect and Feng Shui guru created magic together in this location, which is our flagship studio. We have our 2nd location in the Rockridge District in the East Bay. Our highly skilled team of Estheticians and Massage Therapists love what they do and is clearly reflected in their incomparable services. Marilyn created Spotless potion for ingrown hairs, razor bumps and a treatment toner for blemishes and breakouts. Marilyn Jaeger is widely known as the Bay Area’s master esthetician, bringing bold, beautiful brows back to the bay. Throughout her 18+ year career, Marilyn has founded Marilyn Jaeger Skincare Studio, with locations in both Rockridge and San Francisco, created Spotless, a product for treating and preventing ingrown hairs, acne and inflammation, and inspired thousands of women and men with stories of her life’s lessons and passion for empowerment and wellness.

„I focus on healthy mind, spirit and body.“ It’s an infinite, positive feeling,» Marilyn states.

Jaeger has clients who travel from all edges of the earth and economic backgrounds to indulge in the array of services at her two studios, including brow shaping, Brazilian bikini waxing, facials and massage. Marilyn dedicates her time at both locations to treating her clients and training all of her employees thoroughly on her techniques and philosophy to ensure that every client receives an authentic ‘Marilyn Jaeger Experience.’

I’ve been going here for bikini wax and facials for years. I celebrated a milestone birthday last month and organized an after hours get together for about 12 of my gals here at the SF location. It was SO MUCH FUN — the staff was so accommodating, we brought in some snacks, had some wine, they treated us to hand treatments after our services… all my friends had massages or facials and everyone raved about their treatments. Marilyn even did my makeup for me after my facial, before we headed out to dinner. We got the royal treatment and it was such a wonderful way to catch up with friends and enjoy some relaxing time. So aside from coming in for a regular appointment, I recommend this place for a little private after hours party if you have a special occasion to celebrate. Thanks to everyone who helped make our evening so enjoyable! I had the best birthday!

Terrific customer experience and service! Was treated to a surprise 60 minute massage as a Christmas gift and this was my first time visiting the studio. Andrew was the masseuse and although he was very chatty while trying to get to know my preferences for pressure and pain points, he was terrific during the massage. I don’t like to talk, I prefer to zone out and just enjoy! He delivered a great massage and I even fell asleep!
The studio was welcoming and relaxing. The prices are market rate, if not lower for some services! I will be returning for another massage soon!
I also plan to try a facial. I love the girl I typically see, but Marilyn Jaeger studio is so conveniently located to my apartment and is less expensive!

Tonight was my first experience and it was amazing! I was recommended to come here for a wax from a friend and from start to finish was impressed. Perfect service at the front desk with professionalism and class. I will be back for many more waxes and try out new services.

Marilyn herself is outstanding, and so is everyone else I’ve worked with from her carefully chosen professionals. I usually see Liz as my aesthetician for waxing, and she is great — fast and very skilled. She is also a wonderful facialist when I choose to splurge on one. The space on Sacramento St. is another wonderful aspect of this studio — it feels both luxurious and relaxing.

I have been coming to Marilyn Jaeger’s for years, and have enjoyed all kinds of treatments. HOWEVER… I had never had my brows tinted, waxed and whipped into shape like I did today via Marilyn. My brows look the best they have ever looked! I also asked if they had time to add on an eyelash tint (which I get there all the time) but they were booked. Marilyn knew I was having a rough day so she made it happen. I left there feeling so much better about myself, my day and the kindness of others. Thanks MJ and staff!

I have seen the same esthetician for 15 years but after moving to SF from Woodside I was hesitant to find somebody new. I’ve been to Marilyn Jaeger twice for eyebrow and bikini waxes and could not be happier! FYI, the services are cheaper if you book online through Unilocal

I had an 8:30 am appt today. I try to book early am so I don’t have to deal with metered parking or delays in treatment schedule as the day goes on and so I can get to work on time. I got at least one email confirmation request and several text messages asking me to confirm this time. I even had to give my credit card online to hold the appt when I booked it, and presumably would have been charged if I had been late or no showed. I showed up on time today, no other customers appeared to be there, yet I was kept waiting 10 min, which sounds like no big deal, but was stressful when wondering if I’d make it out before getting a parking ticket.
Immediately upon walking into the room with Nadia (?) I said «please do not stick your fingers in my ears.» Her response was unacceptable: «ok, I’ll try to remember that.» What the hell? It is a pretty simple instruction to remember, but no less than 90 seconds into my treatment she plunges her thumbs in a wet washcloth into my ears! Kind of reminded me of getting a «wet willy» as a kid when my big brother pinned me down and stuck a wet finger in my ear! UNPLEASANT! Moreover, I am being treated for an ear infection by my doc, had just applied some medicine, and was told to keep them dry! If the staff cannot follow a simple request like that then they should not be working there. The woman at the desk looked surprised when I responded no to her question of whether I wanted to leave a gratuity. Imagine if you went into a restaurant and requested a peanut free or dairy free meal and the response you got was «I’ll try to remember that!»
All in all, a rather unpleasant experience. I do believe I purchased a package of peels there, and the price is reasonable which is why I did not give them one star. Also, first tried to simply leave this feedback privately in the «contact us» section on their website, but the link was apparently not working so I decided to leave it here.

I love this place! I’ve been seeing Christine for brows. She’s sweet, professional, and knows what she is doing.
I haven’t had a facial, but I have used products that are sold there and I’m so happy with everything that I have purchased there. I highly recommend the different skincare lines that they sell.
I’ve had my lashes done by Catherine several times now and I LOVE them! When I started doing this, I thought it would be a one-​time splurge, but it has quickly become a necessity. She’s incredibly sweet, professional, and takes great care in making sure that she gives you the best lashes you could ever ask for. She’ll talk to you about your preferences and what it is you want to achieve and will work with you to come up with a realistic game plan. She’s so meticulous and patient so you can be sure that you will leave 1000% satisfied! She also has amazing options for add-​ons — you can do glitter lashes, lashes with Swarovski crystals, mink (cruelty free!), silk — you name it, she can do it.
Her prices are incredibly fair and competitive. While you can definitely find someone cheaper, the fact is that you get what you pay for. I honestly can’t imagine paying any less than what she costs and still get the same quality of service.
Aside from the convenience of not having to do a single thing to my eyes everyday, my lashes have become healthier since I’m no longer using an eyelash curler or mascara. I can’t praise her enough. I used to be the type of person that at the very least HAD to have mascara on if I left the house but now I feel like I can just wash my face and go. Aside from feeling glam, the convenience speaks for itself. I don’t think I can ever go back to a curler and mascara.

I recently moved to SF from Texas, I lived in Austin my entire adult life. I had one person take care of my skin the whole time. So naturally was nervous and reluctant about letting someone new take over, but it had to be done. I chose Marilyn Jaeger Skincare, and boy did I make the right decision.
Christine is who ended up taking care of my my first visit, my brows are really important to me, and she did an amazing job! She did such an amazing job in fact that after hearing about all the services offered I booked a facial with her as well. I just the 45 min facial and I have never felt so pampered in my life, and my skin was glowing for days!
Marilyn Jaeger has found a client a for life, I hear all the girls are taught the same technique which is comforting in case Christine isn’t around when I need something done. I defiantly recommend trying the place out, and again Christine was amazing!

Note: This review is from an *employees perspective*. I had the pleasure of working for Marilyn for about 6 months. Please don’t let this short period of time fool you. I absolutely loved working there. But unfortunately, I had to move back east because someone very close to me is terminally ill.
My experience with MJSS was unparalleled. I have been working in the spa industry for over 5 years and her business was by far the most organized, efficient, and successful company I have worked with. I attribute that to her perfected techniques and highly educated staff. The estheticians at MJSS are amazing. They really know their stuff. and that’s because MJ makes sure of it!
Most of my past spa experience has been ‘back of the house’; working in massage, esthetics and nail departments. But the majority of my time spent at MJSS was as a front desk coordinator. And boy, did I learn a thing or two about superior customer service. The front desk coordinators are trained to perfection and taught the little things MJ does to make each client feel special.
The decorum of the entire spa is utter perfection.
Thank you MJ and your amazing staff for a wonderful experience. I made a few forever friends in that short period of time and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to have worked with you all.

I have been seeing Christine for facials for the past two months. She is very sweet, easy to talk to, and does not push products — in fact gives samples to try. Nice touches: a glass of wine while you wait, neighbor discount, and a super cute puppy. After half a dozen peels my skin is looking better and I am loving this place!

I moved here from Sacramento and prior to Carla had only ever seen one person for my brow waxing, so I was a little hesitant to try someone new. As soon as you walk through the door, the calm serene spa atmosphere takes hold and I just want to sit and sip the wonderful water Marilyn has ready for clients. I love this place and the owner is all about service. She always greets customers if she is there and her staff is attentive and polite. The services are not cheap but if you want cheap — stroll down the street to a nail salon and get waxed in a dirty room by someone who doesn’t speak English and seems to lack any real training in cosmetology.

You wait in a really nicely decorated lobby with fun things to sip on, then your super nice esthetician greets you and walks you into a dimly lit and modern painted room. She leaves. You take your clothes off, crawl onto the comfy bed, snuggle in for an hour and half of relaxation. The esthetician returns AND begins her sales pitch for 10 – 12 minute on what you need to add-​on to your $ 125 facial. Oh, and what products are you using and how they might not be quite right… really, and when I say I bought them when I had my last facial here she shuts up.
The first time this happened to me I thought it was a fluke, the second time I almost got up and left. Look, you want to make more money, that’s great, but ask me about it on the phone or before I take my clothes off.
They sell SkinCeuticals products that are nice — you can find them elsewhere for less.
This place is not worth it.

The atmosphere here is exactly what I want when I want to splurge and pamper myself a little — dim lighting, good magazine selection, antioxidant water, calming music.
Big plus: They have pillows to accommodate baby bumps so you can lay on your stomach while getting massaged.

My experience with MJSS is starting off splendidly. After looking at the usual suspects (i-​Spa, Nordstrom, Red Door, Kabuki, yadda) for my regular birthday massage/​day spa treat (it’s tomorrow), another Unilocaler’s review for a completely different business referenced MJ. I thought, why not, let me check out something new.
I’ve just gotten off the phone and had an experience that made me smile. Not only am I booked for a 90-​minute massage tomorrow, 15 of them are comped for my birthday. This is something that they do for all customers, it was explained. I’m a first-​timer, and there’s also a small discount for that. I’m fine paying top dollar for great massage work, but this is just good business. The woman on the phone was so lovely — genuinely happy to deliver good service over the phone without it feeling fake in the least. She explained that I should arrive a touch early so that they can acclimate me to the salon, as well as get a drink in me (wine, tea, etc) before I head off to my appointment.

Here I sit comfortably before heading out to my birthday dinner. I feel fantastic. Thanks to probably the best massage in my life. I’m not kidding. I’ve had a ton of massages, from all types of providers (day spa, independent, medical massage practice, etc) and Amanda’s hands are gold.
I feel comfortable saying that I will schedule monthly massages at MJSS for as long as I can. Great location, fantastic customer service, extremely clean, and just an amazing massage experience.

Don’t let the name fool you, Marilyn Jaeger is a great spot for massage too. I’ve been coming for a few months to de-​stress and they’ve been great. Thus far I’ve been quite promiscuous, trying out whomever is available when I book. As a result, I’ve probably met almost every masseuse in their employ and while some are a little better than others, they’ve all been consistently good.
The front desk staff is friendly and courteous and I really like the relaxed warm vibe of the place (no pretention here). Prices are on the high side, but in line with other Pacific Heights comparables like International Orange. My only complaint is that occasionally the massage tables aren’t long enough for me (I’m 5′ 11″) so my feet dangle off the end. Not sure if each masseuse brings their own table, guess that might explain the variation (sometimes they can adjust the length, sometimes not).
