I have been a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in California since 2006. CPAs are required to pass a Uniform CPA Examination and fulfill strict educational, experience and ethics requirements for the states in which they practice. In addition, each CPA must complete 80 hours of Continuing Public Education (CPE) every two years as part of license renewal requirements.

Michael J. McPartlan, CPA was formed in January 2013 to provide quality tax, accounting, and litigation support services to individuals, small businesses, and other clients in the San Francisco Bay Area. My motivation for opening my own business was to increase my opportunities to work with clients on an individual basis and utilize skills I’ve acquired to offer valuable service for their tax and accounting related needs.

I am a former partner in a prominent forensic consulting services firm in San Francisco. I have over 15 years’ experience in the accounting field in a wide variety of areas. In addition, I am a member of the AICPA and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants («CalCPA»). I have been an active member of CalCPA through speaking engagements and committee service. I have also been a contributing writer for the California CPA, CalCPA’s monthly publication, and am a graduate of the 2010 CalCPA Leadership Institute program.
I am a part-time lecturer/adjunct professor at San Francisco State University (SFSU) teaching tax to upper division students during the Fall and Spring semesters. I am a native San Franciscan who holds an Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Accounting emphasis) from SFSU and an Associate of Science degree in Criminology from City College of San Francisco.
