Mother’s Playground

A nice park to visit whether you are a regular or just visiting the city.
We brought our daughter over here before visiting the academy of science. She loves this place. There’s the usual swings and playground set, of course. The park felt very welcoming as you walk down a hill to get there. Dogs were able to roam around freely. Nobody really minded them roaming around as long as they didn’t really get into trouble it seems. Very cool!
The random people at the park seemed consistently nice which is awesome. We shared a bench with some people we didn’t know and they were welcoming. This park was really crowded when we were here but there is a lot of space to have your privacy if needed.
At one side, there are chopped logs for you to sit on. Nothing that truly separates this park from any other park besides location. But, I can honestly say if you go here, especially with friends or family, you will enjoy.

This playground is ok. Has not been renovated in a long time, which gives it that retro you might break something at any moment feeling.
Pros: close bathroom, sand play area, good swings
Cons: equipment old and outdated, some feature broken/​not working

Great playground that’s never crowded and has a big grass area if you want to sit on with a blanket. I love that it’s walking distance from my in-​laws and to Stow Lake. My daughter loves the swing and then walking over to see the ducks.

Brought the chidlren in for a day out! Loads of slides etc to entertain them. Very safe and secure and good setting for the parents to sit down and supervise!!! Will most definely be returning again!!!

Really old playground worth checking out if in the area. Some renovation recently completed but mostly patchwork. The surrounding lawns and groves are very pretty though.

Been coming to this location since I was a little bambino. Now mine go here.
Dont let your Dogs loose here people of there will be trouble.

Mother’s Playground isn’t the most glamorous spot in Golden Gate Park, but it’s never very crowded, and has a good mix of jungle gym options for kids. Six swings, two slides, and lots of options for climbing around. The whole playground area is one big sand pit.
The play structure isn’t terribly modern, but everything works; nothing dangerous or anything like that. There’s a huge grass field that kids can run around on (although it’s a steep hill), and there’s a bathroom nearby (along MLK Drive).
