MUNI – 54 Felton

Not a bad line if I only need to get from my house to balboa park/​daly city bart/​ccsf. Although it almost always reeks of urine, there is not much that can be done about that.
However, I once made the mistake of taking it the wrong way (it was my second time on the line and i wasn’t paying much attention the first time). I ended up all the way in the bayview, but i felt like i was on Mars. I was like ‘where am i?‘

Wow, I can’t say much but I think someone is stealing 54 buses -.-
The 2130 (0930PM) bus gets within 4 – 6 minutes of my station and magically disappears. Not only on the GPS tracker but the bus never actually arrives at the station even after waiting much longer when its way overdue. Like 7 or 8 times out of 10. I sure learned my lesson and got myself a nice pair of hiking shoes.

So… about the 54. It’s nice to have an alternative when the M decides to go ghost ryder (which happens pretty frequently), but it’s a hit and miss. Only because this line shows up every 30 – 45 mins. What’s convenient about this line is that it goes to Daly City Bart which is a short walk to Century Theatres, if you’re a movie goer, on the other end it takes you to the middle of no where land, which I’ve been before and felt very lost. Nothing special about this line unless it’s your only way home.

Runs between Bayview Hunter’s Point and Daly City BART. Although buses on this route don’t come every 5 – 10 minutes, it is very nice to know that it’s not crowded. There are actually a few friendly drivers on this route as well. That is another good thing.

Pros:
— There is a seat available when I get on the bus (+1 star)
— It drops me off in front of Balboa Park and Daly City BART Stations (+1 star)
— Stops on Howth St and Geneva Ave, within a walking distance from City College of San Francisco Main Campus (+1 star)
Cons: Frequency of buses operating this route aren’t very frequent which is the only criticism I have
2÷24÷2014:
This route makes a stop on Geneva Ave at Cayuga Ave with the 29, 43, 8X, 8BX & 88. It is only school days when this route is also filled with students once they start coming out to the bus stop between 3:30 pm — 4:00 pm.

54 Felton gets 3 stars because it’s not usually crowded compared to the busy 44, 29 & 8X.

Frequency is low but it is a nice line. It goes by a block from my house and can take me to balboa bart or daly city bart. It is tracked relatively well on NextMuni and programs like it (actually a very important criterion).
Rather than the low frequency, a major downside of this line is that it doesn’t really go anywhere that useful. I can walk to either of those bart stations in around 12 minutes.

Pros:
— Almost always less crowded than the 29 (though that probably has something to do with the first con below)
— Goes to the Daly City BART station, and thus saves you the $ 2.75 (minimum!) you’d pay to get there by BART
Cons:
— Routine 40-​minute waits, even during the busiest times of day (1 to 2-​hour waits if it’s after 8pm)
— Many times, 54 drivers have ignored my stop requests (then again, my stop is on a steep block and this might be dividing the driver’s attention)
Summing up: I’d take this bus a lot more often if it came more often.

This is my first time being on 54 –felton outbond. i thought that since it was closer to my work, and gets to my house in just 1 bus, I decide to try it out.
First, I checked on 511 and 311, both says the bus would be at the 3^rd and Hudson stop at 4:20pm. So speed walking got me there are 4:10 ish. waiting passed the 4:20 time, I called 311. This time the operator told me that the bus will be there at 4:40. So i waited. and waited, and waited. Luckily, I had something to read, or else I’d be bored to death!
The bus FINALLY came at 5:15. (extremely patient!) got on, had a nice seat. The bus driver was very apologetic.
In the middle of the route, up in the hills, another 54 bus driver in the back told everybody to get off and get on her tiny bus. OMG! She was the worst driver I had ever encountered. She was rude, cussing at elderlys, and slaming on breaks. The bus was packed to the limit, and she still insists to cram everbody into the bus. She yells at every single passenger that tried to use the back door. (Very difficult to understand how to open the door)
I finally got home in 2 ½ hours. Next time, I rather wait for the 44 or take the T line and transfer to 29 bus. It probably would have taken ½ the time.
The star is for the nice, apologetic driver.

This bus line only gets one star for being a block away from my house. Other than that, they’re never on time even though their route isn’t ever congested.
The bus drivers are the worst. They drive recklessly and even stop the bus to get out and grab a snack at a liquor store with passengers inside. I’ve also had them miss a turn, therefore missing about four stops along one street. Real professional for a bus service that always guarantees overtime and starts at over $ 27/​hour. I’ve seen Gucci shoes on one of the drivers. Keep it real

u can see many beautiful girls on this bus, u can see a lot of empty seats on this bus, u can be safe on this bus, by the way, 44 is the most dangerous bus in the world. u can see a lot of robberies on the 44 BUS almost every day.

It takes you to Daly City BART Station from Hunters Point without having to transfer buses. Haha, you save money by not having to purchase a BART ticket.

I can choose between this bus and the 29 to get to my place and since this bus is usually almost ALWAYS late I end up taking the 29. And when it does come, it smells like crap. If you have a choice between the 29 and 54, go with the 29, more frequent service, but also more crowded.

1 star for me usually being able to SIT DOWN
–1 star for being fucking late almost all the time
–1 star for me seeing 2 buses in the other direction and 0 in my direction in over 35 minutes of waiting this morning. I gave up and freaking drove to work.
This isn’t a math review. But they should be happy they get 3 stars instead of the 1 stars I’m feeling right now. Ghetto bus!
