Muni 66 Quintara Inbound/Outbound

I take this bus everyday to connect to the 43 so I can get to school. It’s always been right on time, the bus drivers are some of the nicest you can meet, and you are almost always guaranteed seat of your choice. Since I ride it so often, the drivers know me so if they see me running to the bus, they’ll wait (unlike other drivers who could care less)

This route SHOULD be my lifeline to work. But, sadly, it is not meant to be. My recent experience confirms that I cannot trust this route to get me anywhere on time. I was returning home from work… thus, not in a terrible rush. But, you know, I wanna go home after work. Silly me! After waiting 25 minutes at 9^th/​Judah, midday granted so I understand it will come less frequently, the bus finally arrives! Awesome. It’s like winning the lottery! The bus unloads. The driver steps out, too. «No load» he says. What? We mill about the doors as he shuts them and proceeds to eat his lunch in the back of the bus. Okay, break time. I get it. Probably some kind of rule that every four hours, the driver has to stop and regroup, rest, poop/pee…whaEV. But don’t they usually do this at the terminus of their route? Twenty minutes later, we see movement in the bus! So he ate well and then got off the bus, locked it and blocked the wheels and went over to the pastry shop. We mill about again. one elderly woman appeared to be banging her head against the side of the bus. I was strangely moved by this. Ten minutes later, I wanted to bang my head, too. But our hero returns! «Load» he says to the growing crowd of sheep destined for the fine grazing of the Qunintara prairie lands! And load, we do. Usually this bus is empty… but because several other connecting lines had discharged their sheep, we were packed! The driver, remember he’s our GUY, takes his seat. But, wait, no! There is something that has caught his attention. Dare I say his imagination and curiosity is so PIQUED that he leaves his seat, intent on the rubber stripping on the door! An inquiring finger from our hero discerns a flaw? A safety hazard? I’m so glad he took at least five minutes to determine that we are in ship shape and ready to roll finally. But, wait… what’s this? His back pack needs to be examined carefully, a bottle stowed inside might not be completely secure, and did I remember to check my cell phone one last time «Information gladly given but safety means unnecessary conversation must be avoided.» He held this conviction for we were never informed about these further delays. Our hero must be trusted. It’s like a Disneyland ride in many ways. You queue up, you wait, you are mildly entertained by your fellow riders, the bus ride begins, you anticipate your destination… and then it’s over. Except for the guy who with great passion and intent picked his nose the entire ride, I cannot say that the ride was thrilling. I was safely discharged at my corner and waved goodbye to my friends. 66 Quintara is one of the best MUNI routes to get on. It is easy to get a seat upon getting on the bus. I like the fact that buses operating this route aren’t as crowded when comparing it to other MUNI routes. If you are looking for a quieter bus ride, this line is the solution. This bus route gets 5 stars because it’s a good way to avoid getting on crowded buses and there are seats available when you get on the bus.

This particular MUNI line is pretty reliable. It’s a quick alternate to get from one end of the Sunset district to the other end of the Sunset district. It doesn’t run as often as the more popular MUNI lines, but to avoid traffic and large crowds on the bus this is the line to take.
