History

Established in 1969.

Bob Chaney hired two new people to expand the in-​store staff at Chaney’s Pianos and Organs. Bill Kloos was a piano sales consultant and Paul Funston specialized in teaching organ to seniors in a group class environment. In 1980, Bob Chaney chose an early retirement from retail piano and organ sales. Bill and Paul were the logical successors. With Bill’s expertise in finance and piano sales and Paul’s experience in keyboard education and customer service, Bob felt he had chosen the right people to support long term customer service and who placed importance on piano and organ education. The years following 1980 have been filled with new growth for Music Exchange Inc. while maintaining the personalized customer relationships that begun in 1969. Music Exchange is still a family owned company and we now have showrooms in Walnut Creek, Dublin, Sacramento, Santa Rosa and San Francisco.

The President of Music Exchange is a Bay Area native and started the company as a small neighborhood piano store on Main Street in Walnut Creek.
