I wandered in here on my way somewhere else and left with two beautiful kilim woven pillowcases. Love them! While I was looking, another couple was making arrangements for a large purchase. After they had finished up and wandered around a bit more, they mentioned that they were interested in a lamp and were told they could walk out with it free of charge. Pretty cool. I was also given a few bucks off my small purchase for getting two things. It was a nice change of pace after dealing with mostly chain home décor stores.

I had an excellent experience at Nomadic Arts. I had spent months and months trying to figure out how to solve my problem — I wanted a coat closet in a dining room buffet package. Our dining room is also our guest room, so it has a Murphy Bed that fits to the wall so we can have a proper, formal dining room. When it is a dining room, I wanted to have a buffet for serving and a coat closet with a couple drawers for linens and for guests to use for clothes. I spent hours trying to figure out how to modify Tansu chests, buffets, etc. to no avail. That’s when I remembered Nomadic Arts. I’ve admired the furniture in this store for years and have always wanted to get something from there. Guray helped me design the perfect piece — in fact we did two pieces — matching buffet and a dining table that would nestle into the buffet when the room was converted to a dining room. The work is beautiful, the timing was just as expected, and we picked it up with no worries, damage, etc. I am thrilled with the result and would work with Guray again in a heartbeat.

I had a fairly terrible experience with Nomadic Arts. The actual end product is pretty good and the prices are great but my experience working with the business was terrible.
Everything they make is custom made in Indonesia. This keeps the prices down but what they don’t tell you is how backed up shipping is to California right now. The owner told my wife and I it would take about 6 weeks to build and ship the furniture to SF. It ended up taking 5+ months because the product was stuck in China and the ports in SF are completely backed up with other shipments. Not the store’s fault but they should have told us this before we purchased their product.
The shipping delay wasn’t actually what caused me to give them a 1 star review. The real problem was what happened when my shelves actually did arrive. The owner said I would have to pay an $ 85 delivery fee (never mentioned before) to have the shelves moved from 9^th and Folsom to Van Ness and Market. Seriously? You can wave the delivery fee? or give me a discount or anything for being 5 months late? My wife got upset and eventually convinced the owner to deliver it himself for free. When it was delivered, the owner was in a rush and I told him to just drop off the shelves in the front entryway, I would move them into the bedroom and he could be on his way. That’s when everything went really bad. I walked the shelves into my bedroom by rocking the legs back and forth (it was really heavy) and when I finally got the shelves into place I turned around to see a trail of red wood stain marks across my entire carpet. I freaked out and tried my best to get the stain out of the carpet but it didn’t really work and I had to call a professional carpet cleaner in to have my carpets cleaned. Even the pros were unable to get the stains completely out of my bedroom carpet. Sure, I’m the one who moved the shelving into the bedroom but I purchased these shelves as bedside tables, the owner knew these were going into a bedroom, you’d think he’d mention — «Oh btw, sometimes the stain from the wood can run, you might want to put rubber feet on the shelves». I called the owner and told him what happened and he said he’s never seen that happen. He offered very little sympathy or to help pay for the carpet cleaning or discounts on future product.
Overall a terrible experience, I wouldn’t purchase anything from Nomadic Arts again, which is really unfortunate because I do think their products are good.

Beautiful solid wood pieces at such good prices. The owner is so nice too! We get so many compliments on the furniture we bought from here

My wife wanted a tansu cabinet. We searched online and many of the antique pieces were well out of our price range. She then found Nomadic Arts online and noted that one could order a cabinet. Turns out, they make the pieces to order. Long story short, she ordered one, and we love it. It is beautiful. Guray helped us with this «long distance purchase» via phone and email. They don’t usually ship the items but in this case he helped us immeasurably.
We are now looking into other items to purchase!
They are absolutely GREAT!

We bought all the furniture for our kitchen more than ten years ago and we can not be happier with the quality. These people are very honest and they always make sure their customers are happy with their purchase.

Although it took 11 weeks to arrive (because it had to be custom-​built), my new desk is just *perfect*. The wood is beautiful, the fit and finish are top-​notch, and even the delivery guys were great. Five stars, two thumbs up!

I have bought several pieces of furniture here. I am always impressed with the quality and how helpful the owner is. I recently bought a bed which I ended up having a problem with when I got it home. The owner Guray Ozbek was great. He and I worked together to fix it. I have always felt I got my moneys worth here.

The furniture at Nomadic Arts is solid and well-​crafted. Guray is a pleasure to work with, and they went the extra mile by securing the bookcase we bought to the roof rack. We’ll definitely keep Nomadic Arts in mind for future purchases.

Nice looking, quality furniture at a good price + excellent service = a winner in my book. Guray is a nice guy to work with. I wanted a new dresser the same height as the one in the store, but wider. He worked with me to put something together and had it custom ordered. It takes a while (about 2 months), but it was worth the wait. In addition to the dresser, I now own two bedroom end-​table cabinets and an HD TV stand. All solid and look awesome!

My second trip to Nomadic Arts, and the the second time I’ve left an extremely happy customer. Guray is an absolute pleasure to work with, and he really stands by what he’s selling. This furniture is built with excellent craftsmanship for a great price. I will definitely keep coming back as I need new pieces.

I haven’t purchased but I think I will from Guray! I’ve visited many furnitures in the bay area and I’ve spend my half day in Mission district of SF today and found Nomadic Arts is a piece of gem in the neighborhood! With their prices and solid Mahogany wood, you might be spending at least ¹⁄₃ or more cost in else where. I’m doing measurement and will be back to talk about the design (free) with Guray and hope delivery will be on time as he quoted and craftmanship will show as nice as displays in the store I saw today. But honestly, they have good taste and good quality of wood as far as I can see on the floor and the prices is amazingly low.

Furniture here is the real deal: heavy teak. Prices are reasonable and owner is cool. You can get stuff custom made too. Chairs benches tables wardrobes consoles— he has it all.

Amazing selection of very high quality furniture.
By «quality» I mean the joins, the slider mechanisms, the finish, the decoration, the craftsmanship. All top notch.
I do not mean the «quality» you find in other stores such where «it was made in Italy by an 81 year old craftsman but ignore the fact the doors on the tv stand don’t line up — it gives it character — and all this for only $ 15k».
The prices here are _​really_​competitive.
Great, speedy and friendly delivery service. Happy to get stuff up stairs, lay out the cover sheets so your stairs, walls and rails don’t get dinked.
We’ll definitely be back when we need more…

Given the reviews, I was hoping for decent quality merchandise and good service, but I received none of those things. As other poor reviews have alluded, the side and bottom panels are very flimsy wood, which for me arrived broken. I’d add the service has been amazingly poor. Conveniently for them, they offer NO RETURNS! Way to stand behind your merchandise, gentlemen.
Mid-​July:
I purchased a media center which was delivered with a broken panel. When I called to discuss either a return or repair, Guray told me he would come fix it ASAP, but was too busy to discuss it at that time. He promised a call back later.
Late-​July:
No call comes, so I called him back ten days later to see what’s up. Astoundingly, he laughs at me when I calmly questioned what happened and when I can expect repairs. Between chuckles, he promises to come out the upcoming Friday to fix the panel. I’m furious at this point, but I leave it alone in the hope repairs occur quickly and I can forget I ever made the mistake of shopping here.
Upcoming Friday:
Friday comes, and Guray leaves a message that he’s too busy to do the job and he’ll call back with a new time.
Today:
It’s now MID-​SEPTEMBER and I’ve gotten no response. Clearly he has no intention of fixing a mistake from his shop and shows he won’t stand by his merchandise. It’s no coincidence they have a no return policy!
Save yourself the aggravation and go with a more reputable provider. I’ll be submitting a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Excellent furniture selection with great prices for what you get. They will even custom size or make what you want. Solid mahogany furniture, super sturdy, great prices. The staff is very helpful.
Ive bought 2 pieces from here over the last couple of years and they have held up well.
If you are looking for study, Indonesian style furniture, this is the place. The furniture kinda reminds me of Pier 1 type, but solid and at a reasonable price!

My husband and I spent a day searching for a small dresser for our bedroom. We wanted something that was reasonably well made, but we didn’t want to buy the $ 2,000 dresser we saw at Room & Board. We looked at about 7 different stores before we found Nomadic Arts.
They have a huge selection of wood furniture at reasonable prices (we found a dress for around $ 400.) The store had lots of good looking options for dressers, tables, and coffee tables and they were all made of real wood– no veneer stuff that can chip and split over time. I didn’t see much in the way of sofas, but if you need anything in wood this is your place!

To date our Nomadic Arts collection consists of a bookcase, coffee table, desk, and 2 nightstands. And we hope to add more, much more. We’ve been so happy with all of the pieces we’ve bought– the quality of the wood and the craftsmanship surpasses any of the other stores we’ve shopped at in the city. Their furniture is sturdy, without sacrificing style and artistry, and they can customize the pieces to fit your living space and style.
What’s most impressive and commendable about these guys is their service. They will go above and BEYOND to make sure that you are 200% satisfied with their products. One such example is we had requested some holes drilled into our bookcase because we were going to use it as a media tower. It arrived at our place without the holes, so Guray made a personal visit to our place in Burlingame the next day to do this himself. While he was here, he also buffed out some scratches on our other wood furniture. It’s so rare to come across this kind of dedication to customer happiness and Nomadic Arts has a client for life.
