I want to say thank you to Grace and her team Shirley, Soki and Teresa. They were very helpful and professional. Our stuff was done quickly and their service was awesome.

Kudos to Grace and her team members Shirley, Soki and Teresa! They were super duper awesome and went above and beyond the call of duty. I truly appreciate quality customer service.

I rarely leave comments in Unilocal.However, after getting my things done quickly and precisely beyond what I expected at this office, I know I should let other people know about its good services, friendly and helpful staff. I give them only 5 stars just because I am not able to give them more. Many thanks to Grace, the manager and her team, Shirley, Soki and Teresa. You guys did a good job! :)))))

I went to register our rock star company called: OnePlus1 on September 1^st, 2015.
I arrived at 3:45pm, and was quickly helped by Shirely at the desk. She gave me the registration documents and asked me to sit down to fill them out and return. When I sat down someone asked me for help on the computer so they could renew their business. He insisted as there was a problem in communication and maybe computer knowledge. It took a while to input his information, twice. By the time I was finished I arrived back at the desk and it was 4:30pm! Shirely wasn’t there but another person. Thinking I had time until they closed, I was told that they no longer give out tickets to process your paperwork!
I politely asked for a reconsideration, but was told repeatedly no. Then I tried to turn on the charm, and it appeared that the ladies who work there are real humans. No seriously, pinch them. Shirley talked again to her manager Grace who gave the thumbs up to personally handle my case. To add salt to injury, it turned out that one of my other business license wasn’t complete and this would cause even more delays! It was apparent they wanted to close on time at 5:00pm. Again, instead of throwing their hands up (time was now 4:45pm), they huddled and tackled the problem by having both Soki and Teresa expedite the paperwork required to get my very precious new company started on time! You’ll hear about us around Super Bowl Time! Shirley then handled the data input while Grace approved!
Finally, I have nothing but great words of thanks and praise for those who are working at the City Treasurer & Tax Collector office. Moreover, these women; as a team, put their personal schedules and protocols aside to do what was right. I don’t advise you fake crying like I did, but turn on the charm and you can get things done (time 4:59pm).

This is an office that is obviously staffed by ignorant and/​or lazy beings. The billing department continues to send a tax bill to our address that belongs to someone else. This has occurred seven times now. The previous five occasions I have written «Return to Sender» in bold letters on the envelope with an explanation below saying that the addressee does not live at our address. And, of course, no one at the Tax Collector’s Office bothers to do anything to rectify anything although the return address has in bold letters «Address Service Requested». The sixth occasion upon receiving yet another tax bill I called their office, however, the 311 group is assigned to take messages. The person I spoke to was nice and assured me that she would take down my message about the mail mishap. Of course, nothing was done about it again as now the seventh time yet another tax bill has been sent. All of this is wasting taxpayers’ funds in the reprinting and resending of this tax bill. It could be avoided if the people who are working (and being paid by me and everyone else living in SF) in this office would do what they are supposed to do and get the correct billing address to send this bill to the right person!

Very disappointing to realize that to pay… mind you to pay… we have to stay in line at the info desk with only one person behind the counter. No regard for people’s time. One older gentleman voiced the fact that they should have another person behind the counter to assist and he was actually «asked to leave» if he didn’t have time to wait. It’s a shame, how dare someone feels that it’s ok to address someone in such a way. Not only we are forced to wait since this is the only way to get to the actual window to pay, there is also a wait to the windows as well. Dear Mayor this is a disgrace! No regards for San Francisco small businesses as it clearly shows given the direction our city is taken. Let’s provide some much needed service to the people that make this city and have respect for their time.

BE SURE YOU PACK A BAG LUNCH ! !
Expect to wait… and wait… and wait some more — And then to be told to go to the back of the line again.
If you already have a payment voucher, things might move along reasonably. But if you have to generate a voucher, or do anything that requires any but the most routine activity, expect interminable waits. Today I spent FOUR HOURS in the Treasurer’s office, attempting to generate a renewal voucher for a business license. I was sent to the assessor’s office, then back to the Treasurer, & on & on. Admittedly there were complications, but nothing should take that kind of a wait. And someone who has been sent by Treasurer staff to another city hall dept should not have to go back to the end of a long line when they get sent back to the Treasurer’s office, on the incomplete information staff there had provided.
In fairness to the staff, rank and file people really seem to be doing their best, and even some of the higher-​ranking staff try to do an honest job. But I had to wait a full hour to see the section supervisor, Grace O’Connor, only to be treated rudely by her, and be given information by her that I later learned (from a higher-​level official) was incorrect. That made a return visit necessary, requiring even more waiting.

Calls get routed to 3−1−1 and they don’t always know the answer so the response time is 3 – 5 business days. That’s not helpful.

Hmmm, I wonder if the Tax Collector’s office reads Unilocal?
So I actually wrote the review below while I was on hold with the Tax Collector’s office, waiting for someone to pick up. About 2 to 3 minutes after posting my initial review, a real live person actually picked up the phone. The person who picked up was friendly, but it was easy to sense that she was trying to hurry up and get rid of me. I totally understand, as they, like many government offices, are probably understaffed with no staffing relief in sight. If you do have to call, make sure you write down your questions and any follow-​ups before you call, because it’s easy to forgot something when you’re being rushed like that.
A little later that afternoon (maybe an hour or two later), someone else from the Tax Collector’s office returned my call in response to the messages I left the week before. I didn’t actually speak to this person, but he too, was very nice, and left me a very detailed voicemail in response to my questions. Glad to see that they actually monitor and respond to messages. Or maybe they just read Unilocal.
3 stars (A-​OK), because it shouldn’t take that long to receive answers to a few routine questions.

I work for a financial institution and have worked with the Bank on San Francisco staff many times. They are wonderful to work with. Leigh and Marco are GREAT! They provide excellent service to our group.

They amazed me. Well done San Francisco, well done.

I needed to get a business registration certificate for a sole proprietorship quickly. Who knew it would be this easy? Fill out super simple form, go to City Hall Tax Collector’s office, stop at front desk, get a number, quickly get called, turn in form, pay a nominal fee, and wala! You are now registered to do business in the City of San Francisco.
The lady at the front desk is very helpful. Someone should give her a raise.

This place keeps going downhill.
I get my newly minted resident golf card in the mail on July 12, 2008.
New card says it expires on July 3, 2008.
