Orchidholic

orchids are one of my favorite flowers (that and gardenias)! somehow i manage to keep orchids alive a lot longer… which is much better for my wallet!
the staff at orchidholic are extremely friendly and they remember who i am, even though i only come in once a quarter or so. and yes, it’s because that’s approximately how long their orchids last! great quality orchids, that last 3 – 4 months (if you take proper care of them).
in addition to the standard orchid selection, i also come here to buy orchids with «special shapes» they some how bend the orchid stems into either spirals or hearts (you’ll find them around valentine’s day). the spirals are my favorite and so far, unique to orchidholic. the spirals fit perfectly on my coffee table, giving it visual appeal and more importantly, they don’t block the tv!
i typically stay away from the ones on sale. they tend to be only a couple dollars cheaper, but don’t last as long (a couple weeks vs. a couple months).

Gorgeous, huge, beautiful orchids. Ordered a dozen double stemmed, completely open white phalaenopsis, and they were perfect. The prices are a little bit higher than the neighboring shops at the SF flower market, but the blooms seem larger. One gripe, they never answer their phone! Also, even though they are supposed to be open at 6:00, when we went to go pick up, no one showed up until around 6:20. Just confirm times (I guess when you order in person because they don’t pick up the phone –they need the order about 3 – 4 weeks in advance if you want them fully open for an event) for pick up for your actual event before you go! Would definitely recommend them for weddings; our guests were so excited to take them home.

Not too many people know I’m a sucker for orchids, but one trip to orchidholics was all it took to get me hooked. I’m all about supporting local florists and all, but the selection and prices are unbeatable. After you shop for orchids here, you’ll never want to buy orchids anywhere else.

Amazing prices on fantastically beautiful orchids. They mostly have phalaenopsis orchids here. Tons of colors to choose from. I got beautiful one with yellow and pink flowers (too lazy to look up the name right now). A four inch-​potted plant with two spikes (one branching!) was only $ 13.50+tax! (four inch-​potted with only one spike are $ 11.50, and they usually have fully opened orchids on sale around $ 8 if you don’t mind that all the flowers are already open). Only two of the flowers were open when I bought it, but I expect to have more than 13 flowers as the spikes keep growing! Gorgeous!

My husband and I ordered all of our flowers (read: orchids) for our wedding from Orchidholic, AKA E-​plant world. We decided to do our flowers ourselves under the guidance of my husband’s uncle, who arranges flowers for weddings in New York. I knew I wanted all orchids for our wedding. After visiting Orchidholic’s shop in the San Francisco flower mart, and their greenhouse in Half Moon bay, it was obvious we found the right place.
First, orchidholic has a great selection of gorgeous orchids, that are all lovingly grown in their beautiful greenhouse in half moon bay.
Second, orchidholic’s orchids are very priced very reasonably! Considering the variety and quality of the orchids, we were thrilled with the relatively low cost of each plant.
Third, the owners of orchidholic are so nice and really went above and beyond for us when we ordered our flowers. About a month before the wedding, we went to the greenhouse and had our orchid plants set aside. The owners then «bloomed» the plants so that they all had multiple flowers on each stem when our wedding took place. They also went ahead and arranged all the plants for us in flowerboxes we picked for the centerpieces, and even cleaned the leaves so they weren’t dusty! When I saw our centerpieces for the first time, I almost cried because they were so beautiful.
Thanks in part to orchidholic, our wedding looked lush and extravagant and elegant. Our orchid centerpieces looked expensive, but were actually one of the most modest expenditures we made for our wedding.
It’s so obvious that the owners of orchidholic love orchids and love what they do. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
