WHAT happened? On N Judas tonight & the store and sign were gone! Empty & it is so near Halloween? What happened?

Love this shop! A little pricier than other thrift stores ive been too. Ranges from about $ 1 to $ 10 on clothing, that i’ve seen. (not including all high brand items) Grabbed an Abercrombie & fitch button up, orig $ 39.50 for $ 5.50! Brand new :) So siked and I was asking the price for a pair of aviators made in Italy, she said $ 6, which was already super cheap for it but I was low on cash. So i said «eh» and in the end, she offered selling it to me for $ 3.50! Love the employees, super nice and helpful. Give you free paper bags if they have any to hold your clothes. Its small and neat, doesn’t smell like a thrift store. Definitely coming back sometime soon!

As a veteran thrift store shopper, I have to say that Out of the Closet Thrift Stores have the most amazing selection of clothes, books, and VHS tapes out there — and for cheaper than places like Goodwill.
I find some of the best clothes I’ve ever worn at Out of the Closet, and I’ve always gotten them for under $ 10. Can you believe that? You probably can’t, so just go in and see for yourself.
Yes, it’s messy and a bit disorganized, but it’s a thrift store. Get over yourself. Hidden treasures lie all around you. Discover!

I use to volunteer for aids healthcare foundation. I love shopping there!

Writing this review for their furniture donation pick up service. If you are trying to donate furniture in the Bay Area, I couldn’t recommend this place more. The drivers were prompt, super professional, really effective communicators, and all around fantastic to work with. They made getting rid of my furniture a pleasure.

One needs to approach Out of the Closet with the Bohemian sensibilities of a San Franciscan, really, if one is to fully appreciate the experience.
It’s big. It’s messy. They have the most random things ever. The people working there are always friendly, often scattered.
Best of all, they take donations and will do a tax credit for it, which ends up being better than selling at Buffalo Exchange or Crossroads, at the end of the day.

Get yoselves to Target and buy some cheap-​ass mirrors for your «dressing rooms.»

This place isn’t huge which is why it doesn’t have a huge inventory probably. I think it depends on what day you come here, so I’m willing to give this place another try. Anyway, when I was here, the clothes were alright and there wasn’t much in the way of furniture or décor stuff for the apt. I think I’ve seen more than one of these around the city so I’m looking forward to my next visit.

This Thrift Store is full of winners, but they are hidden by lots of losers! I came in here randomly with a friend one day since it was right by her Dads house. Oh my gosh! The designer jeans were oozing in this place. The counter person even pointed us to a rack full of Joe jeans etc on sale that day for ONE DOLLAR. WHAT. WHAT.
No one else was in the store but we still frantically searched through the rack before anyone could beat us to it… hah girls! Sadly we didn’t find any jeans on the rack in are size! I noticed lots in smaller sizes like 25 and 26. Damn!
I did get some designer shirts and a pair of American Eagle jeans for a dollar. Fist pump!

This is one of my favorite actual thrift stores and the best of all the OOTC. Everything is a great deal and their selection is huge. Again, it is a hit or miss because IS a thrift store but sometimes you find really amazing finds that you won’t find elsewhere. Love this freaking store!

It takes a certain mentality to shop here. Its not for everyone. Some people can’t imagine buying used clothes or knickknacks. Others don’t have the patience to go through the racks. Luckily I’m neither of those. I can’t imagine paying full retail. I have multiple siblings and shared clothes as a child so used clothes are nothing new to me in more ways than one.
A visit to Out of the Closet is like a new treasure hunt every time. Sometimes I walk away empty handed, other times with something fabulous and new to me. My wardrobe has definitely been supplemented with purchases from here especially from the dollar rack. Love the dollar rack! I’ve even donated things that are no longer of use to me. Because its all for a good cause.
My favorite find here was a 1999 Willie Mays bobblehead that was a stadium giveaway at Candlestick long before I really got into Giants baseball and all of its swag. It was only a few dollars and, to top it off, knickknacks were 25% off that day! So you never know what you’ll find but its almost always a fun hunt here.

This is best OOTC, got me some cool slacks, a jacket and nice retro lookin’ shirt for big times!
Out Of The Closet is used clothing, probably stuff from dead peeps and playa’s that don’t got any more room in their apartments for this stuff no more.
So that’s how I got the down threads on my body now!
I almost bought a sharp suit here but I got no place to wear it. Somebody invite me to a funeral!

I love this store! I have found countless gems in here, including a leather corset, long cowboy jacket, red snakeskin pumps, an authentic Guatemalan shirt for my guy, jeans, and two designer dresses!
Basically they have so many donations, that it’s best if you go all the time and take a look. I also bring my clothing here to donate because it’s such a good cause!

i like it but it’s not that interesting to look around. last time, i got an all-​silk club monaco dress for seven dollars and change. it was on super-​sale, not a bad find at all.
some of the stuff is not in great condition so you have to be careful before you buy, like any second-​hand store. the «changing rooms» are also not for the modest — just a curtain with gaping holes on either side.
because it’s a smaller store and not terribly curated, sizes are often hard to find, though this is also because i am of painfully average size.
overall, it’s just one more fun place to shop for a good cause.

Service = friendly, enough. Depends on who you get. ;) some like it surly, some like it hot, and some like it low-​key.
Prices = reasonable. It’s a secondhand thrift shop, non-​profit and for a good cause!
I’ve found many t-​shirts from here, some furniture (when they had a bigger selection of it) and some kitchen stuff (when they still had tons of space) and some cheap books (always!) Their items are mostly organized.
I love the eclectic collection of vinyls, books, clothes, costumes, wigs, jewelry, and other knickknacks that can be found if you’re browsing around…
Only warning: it’s a bit smaller than it used to be about 2 years ago, so try not to swing too many bags or flail your arms around here, unless you want a po’d gay guy or broken merchandise on your conscience…

When I was a kid, I was completely enchanted with C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. I would go exploring all over the house looking through linen closets that would transport me to some magical place. We didn’t own any wardrobes or armoires, and the closets had no fake panels in the back, just old clothing and forgotten items. But to an only child these «hidden treasures» could fascinate me for hours, hence my love for thrift stores.
On my recent trip to San Francisco, I spotted this location of OFTC, and had to stop in. Racks of tasteful fashion covered the floorspace. A nice book collection is housed along two walls, featuring current and hard-​to-​find authors. The furniture pieces weren’t bad, either. But what I was most impressed by was the selection of Men’s Clothing. I found two excellent shirts — a nice blue one from Guess, which was practically brand new, and a fine Italian designer shirt, white with purple diamonds, that I wore to a soirée here in Los Angeles. Both were priced quite reasonably, and one was 30% off.
The cashier who rang up my order was friendly and personable, and a nice pharmacy is attached as well. I will most assuredly be returning here on my next visit to the Bay Area. Who knows, maybe they’ll even have a wardrobe for sale.

Not exactly a Goodwill as the prices here tend to be a bit high but when you consider that the money goes to a good cause the extra buck or two doesn’t really make that much of a difference.

So though I’ve heard from several people that they have really good luck here… yea, me not so much.
The issues that make it not work for me personally:
1) The sizes here run larger 10 – 14 +
2) There’s many more t-​shirts and dresses, and few if any skirts.
3) No vests
4) 2.00 per shirt more expensive than Goodwill
5) Only one gothy top that was 4+ sizes too big.
I would come back when I’m looking for more striped shirts and jeans… but for my goth/​clubbing/​plaid skirt needs?

Although there was a pretty sweet picture of Bill Clinton on the wall, I’m really reviewing what’s behind the door in the back of the store. You know why you go there.
Throughout my life, I’ve worked at many places– daycare center, casino, healthcare facility. What they all have in common is LOTS and LOTS of germs. So many germs that I almost NEVER (knock on wood) get sick. When I see my friends’ Facebook statuses bemoaning how they are sick again, I am smug because I have yet again escaped the cold/​swine flu/​ebola that is tormenting the rest of them.
That is until I got a nasty cold. Granted, it had been going around my office, but usually it skips on by me. Not this time. It made it’s way in and made me miserable.
So then I started getting paranoid. About everything. All those signs around town? You know the one with all the black shadow of people and that one red person? I took it as a sign. And then I started seeing signs everywhere. And then I started having quasi-​panic attacks. Then I was compelled to find out once and for all if I was going to be susceptible to many colds in my future, or if I needed to be checked into a mental institution.
Thankfully, all is good in my world. I am not sick, and in hindsight I realize my prolonged cold illness was because Mr. Cold brought along his jerk friend Mr. Allergies, who seems to have taken up permanent residence in my sinuses.
So when your paranoia strikes, come here. Quick, great staff, no blood drawn. Everyone should do it, even if you’re fit as a fiddle.

I’ve been going here for a long time and I have found great treasures hanging on the clothes rack or in some box on the floor. Quality name brands too! A wool Pierre Cardin sweater. Eddie Bauer long dress coat. amazing things that are reasonably priced to begin with. But there’s more! Many have color-​coded tags so an $ 8.25 sweater could be ¹⁄₃ off, ½ off or 50% off. Today I picked up two nice wool/​cotton sweatrs and a nifty travel bag for $ 9.25! My plan was to find some things for under $ 10!
I have a bit harder of a time finding pants. they’re hit or miss. I won’t ever buy used shoes. people’s feet are personal. But there’s some quality items to be had. There’s also an area for kitchen equipment like coffee makers, dishes. sometimes there’s some nice furniture too.
In this economy, Out of the Closet fits your budgetary needs.
