P Michael Hine, DDS

Simply put, Dr. Hine is the best dentist I’ve ever had. I’ve been seeing him for over 18 years. I’ve had 7 dentists in my life. He’s the best of them. He’s clear, concise, truly concerned with my welfare, and pain free. He has excellent connections for procedures he does not perform. Meaning, if he sends you to someone, that person will be excellent also.

Excellent service all around. My dental insurance recently changed after many years, and I wasn’t thrilled to have to find a new dentist. Wow! What a terrific dentist, person and office Dr. Michael Hine, DDS has. I was referred to Dr. Hine from a trusted friend. I was looking for a new dentist after 15 years with one who ended up being very unethical. Anyway, she praised Dr. Hine up and down. She has been going to him for over 20 years and continues to see Dr. Hine.
She assured me that not only was a he a very skilled and excellent dentist but that he never did or recommended any unnecessary work. That is very hard to come by among dentists.
I have had such a great experience with Dr. Hine that I referred my family to him as well. He’s great. He’s ethical, he’s kind, gentle, honest. In fact, he referred me to not one but two specialists who were both excellent. I have had extensive dental work done over the years so I can say with utmost confidence that Dr. Hine is excellent. As far as teeth cleanings, they are also excellent, thorough, gentle and my teeth have never been so clean.

I also want to encourage anyone out there who has a lousy, greedy or unethical dentist but is afraid to change, to do so. I waited for years for some inexplicable reason (my files were there, he was familiar with my dental history etc.) and each time I had a new procedure, it only got more expensive and worse. Trust your intuition and get out. Your teeth are finite in number, don’t mess around and don’t give your business to anyone who does not treat your teeth and pocket book with the utmost respect.

I’m 70 years old and have endured a long lifetime of dental problems and a legion of dentists, ranging from barely adequate to quite good. Finally, multiple friends insisted I go to Dr. Hine. I’m SO grateful to them… and to Dr, Hine and his excellent staff for more than 7 years of maintenance and treatment that’s head-​and-​shoulders above any I’ve ever experienced before.
Dr. Hine’s skills, methods and technology are superb, absolutely state-​of-​the art. As others have mentioned, he communicates honestly and thoroughly so I’ve always understood my problems, options and treatments. Most important, his dental work has been PERFECT in every way.
Example: I’ve lost several prominent teeth to periodontal infections. After large upper and lower partials built by an East Coast dentist started to fall apart after just two years, Dr. Hine designed and built new partials, completely solving difficult and complex problems with attachment and stability. They fit perfectly and so comfortably I forget they are not real — and they look attractive and perfectly natural.
Moreover, it’s all been virtually painless… to me, the ultimate test of a dentist’s and hygenist’s skills .
Every aspect of Dr. Hine’s office are equally excellent. The front office staff and hygenists are totally professional and welcoming. Ever appointment is kept right on time and I’ve never waited «in the chair» more than a few minutes during treatment.
I wish I had a dentist and a dental practice this good all my life. This is a 100%, total, unqualified recommendation.

I have been seeing Dr. Hine for about twenty years and I have referred my wife and several friends and colleagues to him. He is easily the best dentist I have ever had — before settling in SF I lived in several other cities and used several dentists. Scheduling and re-​scheduling appointments with Dr. Hine’s office is a snap, the hygienists are all very friendly and professional (most have been with him a long time), and the office is conveniently located. You can’t go wrong with him.

I love getting my teeth cleaned at this office because they are so caring, thorough, and prompt. Dr. Hine is excellent at what he does, and does it with such attention to detail. The bonding he’s done is perfectly matched to my other teeth.

I have been going to Dr. Hine for more decades than I want to admit! I was referred by my oral surgeon when I had my wisdom teeth removed and I have been seeing the doctor and his hygienists ever since.
It is always a pleasure to see the crew even if I have to have a crown placed or an old filling replaced. Dr. Hine is so quick that the procedure is almost over before you know it. I think having a dentist I trust has kept my teeth in much better shape. Getting them cleaned by gentle and professional people like Bianca keeps me coming back even though I no longer commute to San Francisco for work. Its worth the trip plus I get to check out downtown a bit before I return home.

Having moved a lot I’ve seen a lot of dentists and Dr. Hein’s office is one of the best ones I’ve been to. The front desk staff is extremely nice and helpful and the hygenists are top notch. Dr. Hein is very friendly and explains all the procedures thoroughly before beginning.
I have never had to wait for an appointment, unlike other places where I usually sit at least 10 to 15 minutes past my appointment time. Overall, I am a fan of this dental office and if I hadn’t moved away from San Francisco I’d continue to be a patient.

Easily the best dental experience I’ve ever had. P. Michael Hine and staff are extremely knowledgeable and welcoming! Everytime I come here for a visit there is always the same level of consistent patient care, that is quite frankly difficult to find nowadays. Best dentist in San Francisco. I moved to the city about 2 years ago, and kept putting off finding a dentist because I was so afraid that I would end up with ridiculous bills for all sorts of dental work. I kept telling myself I’d go back to my hometown dentist in New Orleans, but lets be honest, who wants to go to the dentist when they’re on vacation?
I was referred to Dr. Hine by two of my coworkers, and I’m so glad I went. They’re so friendly, and they really take the time to make sure you’re comfortable. Every single step in the process was explained to me — things had definitely changed since the last time I visitied a dentist. I DEFINITELY recommend coming here.

Well, once you go to Michael Hine, you will be one of the lucky few.
First, the staff at his office are so knowledgeable, they explain what they are doing, and why they need to do it. I’m one of those people who needs to know what is happening to me every step of the way, and this office really gives you the information you need.
Second, embarrassingly enough, it had been a while since I had been to the dentist. They were very understanding and I felt so at ease.

I hadn’t been to the dentist in over 10 years. I went to Dr. Hine and they found 10 cavities… one for each year i didn’t go.
Needless to say, a lot of work needed to be done. After 4 visits to fix, each time explaining what he was doing and walking me through the process. I had a great experience with Dr. Hine and the staff there.
The only complaint that i have is the elevator in the building he’s in is REALLY slow… so make sure you show up with enough time to get to the appointment!

Dr. Hine was highly recommended to me by a dear friend. My first cavity ever was long over due for a crown and after undergoing an orthodontic treatment it was time for the crown. He was very patient with me and explained the entire procedure and answered all of my questions and concerns and gave me all possible options. He also notified me that I was in need of an unfortunate root canal which I had to take care of before receiving my crown. He also explained that procedure to me and gave me referrals to some doctors in the neighborhood who specialized in root canals. After having my first and hopefully only root canal I was back at Dr. Hine’s office. The drilling and molding for the crown took no more than an hour my first visit and then 40 minutes my final visit. He was gentle with the numbing and accurate with the procedure. I’m happy to put this behind me, but I just wanted to let people know about how great a dentist Dr. Hine is and how helpful and knowledgeable his front desk is.

I have been going to Dr. HIne for about 4 years and have not had a filling or crown or cavity for the first time because of the superior technique of the hygenists there, Bianca, Ella, etc. Dr. HIne has a gentle touch and the latest in tools and instruments. A great experience every time and I look forward to the dentist for the first time in my life.

This is the best dentist in SF. I been going to Hine for 4 years and not a single cavity nor any other problems. He was referred to me by a man who has been to his office for over 20 years starting with Hine’s father in law, and he says Hine is even better than the original. He has fixed many of my friends teeth with lots-​o-​problems and all of them have been super happy that I referred them to him. He is exactly what you are looking for: conscientious, honest, highly skilled, honest, kind and most importantly honest.
I completely and totally trust this dentist.

As dentists go, he’s pretty standard: comes in after the hygentist cleans the teeth, shakes hands, and pokes around for all of 30 seconds. He’s perfectly nice, but with a vaguely Christopher Walken auora about him. He did a moderately good job with a cavity, notwithstanding a few days of pain that I don’t think should have been there.
The reason worth writing home (or to Unilocal) about him is that his staff is one of the best I’ve encountered. Very knowledgeable hygentists, they do a great job with the cleaning. For basic maintenance issues, his office is a solid choice. Not so sure about more complicated undertakings.
