In addition to providing three different size private mailboxes for rent with 24-​hour access, we are an Authorized Shipping Center for FedEx, UPS, and DHL. US Postal Services are available as well. Stop by and we’ll help you choose the rates and services that best fit your specific needs.

Any items you bring to us to be shipped will be professionally packed to industry standards. Also, if you need to purchase your own packing materials for at-​home projects, we have a large selection of boxes, envelopes, bubble wrap, tape, and other materials to handle all your packing and shipping needs.

As far as the ‘plus’ in P.O. Plus, we always have a notary public available during store hours … we also provide copying, printing, faxing, certified shredding, and similar services. Connect to our website or stop by the store to learn about all the other services we provide.

History

Established in 1982.

P.O. Plus, your one-​stop center for all your shipping and mailing needs, opened its doors in 1982 and is one of the oldest gay-​owned and operated businesses on Castro Street. Our success can be attributed to our commitment to excellent customer service throughout the years. P.O. Plus has been owned by Paul Moffett since 1994.

Can’t rave enuff about this place. I can bring anything in here, however oddly shaped, and the staff here will package it, bubble wrap it, whatever needed to mail it in one piece. And they try to save me money whenever possible. Mostly run by a group of bear daddies. So helpful and friendly– honey bears for sure!

Been here many times over the years, almost always for notaries, an exceedingly rare service. These guys are friendly, professional and fairly fast; a great combination. I like that they welcome dogs :)

The friendliest staff all around! Just drop off all your packages here, so much less of a hassle. They also do USPS postage and mailing — why go to the USPS down the street and wait forever when you can just do it here?
However, there is a $ 2.75 charge for up to 10 minutes to use the computers to print (10 cents a page). Whatttttttttt. Be warned.

This package store in the Castro that looks like it’s entirely staffed by Bears (as is tradition) is a small, but efficiently-​run operation. They do everything from UPS to fedex to USPS, and they do it well.
I came in a week ago trying to mail about 250 letters. Everyone stopped to help me double count and make sure I had the appropriate amount of postage going on the mail. It’s rare that you get customer service like that, and if I end up in the Castro for business again, I’ll be sure to check them out.

Amazing customer service! Everyone is always helpful, friendly, and efficient. They have always gone above and beyond to help me in every way. They have helped me ship abroad, ship locally, notarize, and always make the extra effort to make the shipping process as easy as possible. I have been a box holder and customer of PO Plus for many years. For my job I need to both send and receive a variety of packages, plus due similar things personally, particularly because my friends and family live all over the place in the US, including Hawaii plus other countries outside of the US, which always can be challenging with what one can ship and what cannot be shipped, to other states and countries.
I just have to take a few minutes to thank my good friends at PO Plus, you’ve saved me AGAIN! Particularly you Paul and Jason, you are the best — I love PO Plus — THANKS!!!

Not only is this place great for shredding, but it’s also got a friendly and efficient notary service.
Basically, you can come here for anything you need taken care of in the «what do I do about these papers??» department.
Shredding — super simple. You just walk in hand them your shredding. They weigh it and charge you. You can either watch them feed it into the locked shredding bin (gray bin) or trust them to do it later.
Notary — you’ll need to wait your turn. When it’s your turn, you get a friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient (as in efficiently does everything right without skipping any signature spots) notary. I would go directly here the next time I need a notary.
I’m not sure how their prices compare, but if they are any more expensive than anywhere else it’s because they are worth it.

Who knew that you could look forward to shipping a package? Everyone there is always so friendly and helpful it’s a little insane. I suppose it might be more expensive for shredding than some place in San Mateo but time=money for me, plus that dose of happy that hand out, I’ll stay right here and keep giving them my business whenever I can!

Top notch service. Absolutely top notch. I walk in with my huge UPS package and some tape to tape the printed shipping label to the package. The guy behind the counter was quick to attend to me. He reached out to take the printed label and although I brought in my own tape, he said «No worries, we don’t need it!».
Try getting free tape from UPS down on Market Street! They wanted to charge me a $ 1 just last week!

Why would you mess with the post office or ANY other mail service? I have been a customer for over 5 years and my experience has been AWSOME ! So many service buisnesses these days get by with mediocre staff and spotty service. This PO plus has been a literal lifesaver for me, shipping medications and auto parts when I have been stranded. Being proactive and calling me if they had a question which helps alot when your traveling.
People seriously just forget the rest and come here… excellent service, great staff, no shenanigans. Life isnt an easy game… so do yourself a favor and become a customer.

OK place to shred stuff in the city but much more expensive (over 2x) than the shredding-​only places in Bayview or San Mateo. Would call ahead to check and compare rates, especially if you have a lot to shred.

Just left PO Plus. Required Notary services and was stressing over a place to go. About to call a mobile Notary service when I remembered this store in the Castro.
Unbelievable customer service provided courtesy of Gene! Calmed me right down! Took care of everything, including copies and FedEx shipping! All in one stop! And the price was extremely reasonable.

Cannot say enough nice things about these guys. they helped me figure out how to safely ship a TV, even though they said it was dumb because it would likely break. i packed it myself but they fixed it for me after i brought in not full enough with packing materials. and it made it safe and sound! seriously the nicest thing a merchant has done for me in recent memory. they have my shipping business forever.

Every time I walk away from PO Plus, I think, «I need to write this place a Unilocal review». But by the time I reach my condo — one tiny block away — my scattered brain has moved on to how I need to sweep to porch, pick up the dog-​doo, or some other mundane task.
But not today.
Here it is… This place is the best. As far as shipping needs, they’ve got you covered… FedEx, UPS, USPS. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. PO Plus truly has a neighborhood feel, and they truly care about everyone who walks up those little brick steps and through that door.
My friends, you shall never go to the post office again.

Had to ship a camera lens halfway across the country and really, really did not trust USPS to provide the necessary service or assurance for that cause so I came to P.O. Plus. I was greeted by Paul who took the necessary measures to ensure that the lens would be protected. He literally pulled out a measuring tape and chose the box just snug enough to give it that extra protection.
Yes, I did pay significantly more here than I would have had I gone with Flat Rate Shipping from USPS, but at least I left with peace of mind. Oh, and I got to play with Tucker, so yeah. :)
