Powers Accountancy has been in practice for more than 25 years, 100% consistently owned by Lisa Powers, CPA; M.S., Law of Taxation. Powers Equity was formed in 2005 to counsel & transact in matters of real estate ownership & development. We understand what it means to own a business.

Business Owner

Lisa Powers, CPA, MS., Law of Taxation originally matriculated in the UC system in foreign languages, Lisa left to create a small company which she sold four years later. The high cost of income tax to business was the lesson learned, leading her to become a CPA and earn an M.S. in Tax Law. Through subsequent years she founded and sold a small business accounting firm, keeping the larger clients as a more focused business plan; began a real estate investment /​development career; spent six years as co-​CEO of a user interface company doing large cap client deal-​making; and continued to work with privately-​held companies and their owners for matters of tax and business advisory. She believes in the ethic of a «win-​win» attitude, in business and in life.

She currently serves on the Children’s Hospital Oakland Legacy Advisory Board, co-​taught a multi-​disciplinary course at UC Berkeley Bechtel School of Engineering — «The Start-​up Company», and is a past three term president of the Golde
